Wingnut Wrapup

Here we are again!  I think Trump's use of THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD has gotten the wingnuts all excited, so they are out in force, dropping their own bombs, if only verbal ones.  I report, you decide- or laugh or ignore or whatever.

I am dedicating today's Wingnut Wrapup to Jeffrey Lord, a brain dead right wing liar who of course was seen by CNN as so politically astute that they just had to pay him to come on their network and preach the word to the American people, for uttering one of the most offensive political remarks of the last ten thousand years; to wit:

"Think of Donald Trump as the Martin Luther King of healthcare"

But there he sits, on our TV's, and there he will remain, demonstrating once again the real reason why this country can't find a way out of the wilderness.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Ari Fleischer, Both as a Jewish American and a Press Secretary, Empathizes With Spicer"

Remember Ari Fleischer?  He was George W. Bush's "press secretary," with the same job as Spicer, lying his ass off every single day to support an incompetent, worthless President.  Of course he empathizes with Spicer.  I bet Jeffrey Dahmer empathized with John Wayne Gacy, too.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:   "While We're All In A Fuss Over United, Look What Gulf Carriers Are Doing"

And what was that? Sending squads of goons onto the planes to beat random people for fun?  Selling passengers tickets and then dumping them in a ditch somewhere in the desert? No, this:

"...take a gander at the actions of some Gulf carriers--who, armed with generous government subsidies, are exploiting unenforced trade agreements to create an entire economy based on aviation.

The subsidies enable the Gulf airlines--Ethiad, Qatar, and Emirates--to make questionable business decisions that don't mesh up with customer demands"

I.e. exactly what capitalism is all about in the Republican world, unless it doesn't work in their favor.  Case in point: the coal industry, kept on its feet by Republican subsidies, despite its being as competitive as buckboards in today's economy.  It's only wrong when the people getting the benefit can't contribute to the Republican party with a small sliver of their proceeds.

“No company could tolerate such financial losses except for those receiving a never-ending stream of state subsidies."

Like the coal companies?  Despite our subsidies, five of the six largest US coal companies have gone bankrupt since 2000, but they are still getting the benefit of a playing field tilted radically in their direction, almost entirely (we haven't forgotten you, Joe Manchin) by Republicans.

John Stossel, Town Hall:  "Somehow, firing Tomahawk missiles at Syria suddenly changed people's opinions of President Trump. Now they call him a "serious" leader.

William Kristol said Trump's action "reassures you."

Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, long critical of Trump, now say he "deserves the support of the American people.""

It changed people's opinions.  Republican people, that is, if the examples cited above are all that John has.

Jonah Goldberg, Town Hall:  "New Sheriff Fires a Warning Shot in Syria"

Oh God, who woke Jonah up?  Anyway, I remember seeing a pretty fair number of cowboy movies in my time.  As I remember, the guy who rode into town and shot the place up, and then rode away was not the sheriff, he was the bad guy.  I mean, am I right, or what?

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "Haley: US Ready to Help Bring Syrian Conflict 'To An End'

But how?  Maybe by bombing the whole place back into the stone age. That's the only idea they seem to have and, while that would technically accomplish the purpose of bringing the Syrian conflict to an end, I'm not sure it would really be perceived as a masterstroke of foreign diplomacy.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "FBI: Yeah, We Had A FISA Warrant For A Trump Adviser (Obtained It Last Summer)"

The FBI had credible evidence that a Trump advisor was colluding with the Russians to steal the election.  That is a bad thing about the FBI, not Trump.

Streiff, Red State:  "Avoiding Infinite War, Trump Notches up Some Diplomatic Successes Against North Korea"

If you believe that one, I have some great news about how Hansel and Gretel defeated the Big Bad Witch by sailing their fleet close to the witch's ports.  Fairy tales seem to be all the rage these days.

Jim Jamatis, Red State:  "How Did Islamic Protest Against a Christian Governor in Indonesia Become a Problem for Marvel Comics?"

How did something in a comic book become a problem for right wingers?  That's what I would like to know.

Patterico, Red State:  "Study: Support of Trump Now Considered “Conservative”

No shit, Sherlock.

Nathan Lichtman, PJ Media:  "Reporter Tells Kellyanne Conway That Trump Isn't Covered Fairly in the Media"

Reporter?  That would be one Michael Wolff, who writes for the Hollywood Reporter.  The last time something true appeared in the Hollywood Reporter was, oh, well, let me get back to you on that one. It was before my time, for sure.

Debra Heine, PJ Media:  "Report: House Investigation of Susan Rice Scandal Expanding...They are investigating if Americans beyond the Trump team were unmasked."

They haven't been able to find anyone yet, so they will "expand" the investigation, perhaps to the population of the whole world.

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "A Dem win in Georgia will cause huge backlash!"

Vote against us and we will throw a giant tantrum! And they will too, just like they do about everything else we do.

Michael Reagan, Newsmax:  "Unmask and oust the White House mole — President Donald Trump needs to learn the identity of the man or woman leaking embarrassing information about infighting between White House staffers and fire them immediately"

See, letting people know what chaos reigns in the White House is the same as being a traitor or a spy. Because to Republicans, truth is treason.

Jay Baggett, World Net Daily:  "Bible clue found in 3,000-year-old donkey dung"

Man, I'm glad to have that settled.  I just wonder why they didn't think to look in donkey dung first thing.  I mean, they spend most of their time spreading horse crap.

Tim Jones, American Thinker:  "Opioids and 'the Good Life'...Opioids represent the culmination of what secularism and liberalism have accomplished in their efforts to tear down all restraints to one’s conscience by destroying Christianity and biblical morality"

That's why opioid use is so heavily concentrated in liberal areas of the country:

Oh wait...

E. Jeffrey Ludwig, American Thinker:  "The Pursuit of Equality Is Deconstructing and Killing Us"

Better to give up on that idiotic, un-American value and go back to slavery, the way God intended.

In Touch Weekly:  "It looks like Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle Duggar, have found themselves in a parenting controversy!"

Oh my God!  Call out the National Guard!  Man the lifeboats!  Too bad they didn't find themselves in a "parenting controversy" instead of just a ratings controversy when they discovered that their son, the product of their oh so religious upbringing, was an incestuous child rapist.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  " BREAKING: U.S. Responds to Death of Green Beret By Dropping Massive Bomb in Afghanistan...Bomb never used in combat before..."Mother of all bombs"

Thank the Lord!  After eight years, the country has finally returned to Republican diplomacy!  The bomb? A fuel air bomb, or MOAB, nicknamed a "daisy cutter,"something mainly known from its use in an early scene in the movie "Outbreak."  Weapons like this have been sitting around for decades, but leave it to Donald Trumpto drop THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD!!!!  It was dropped, allegedly, on an ISIS tunnel.  It was never designed for underground targets, but then, it is THE BIGGEST BOMB IN THE WORLD!!!! so how could you not think the pathetic Trump would use it first chance he got.  Of course, every right wing site I am looking at is crowing at the majesty of this useless act of egomania.  A random example:

Kristinn Taylor, Gateway Pundit:  "Another Promise Kept: Trump ‘Bombs the Sh*t’ Out of ISIS – Drops ‘Mother of All Bombs’ on ISIS in Afghanistan"

Another promise kept!  Trump promised to drop a bomb on someone and he did!  Forget the fact that this one bomb accomplished nothing except fuel Trump's mastubatory love of violence.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "North Korea Scared Everyone About A "Big Event" That Was Just The Opening Of A Street"

"Everyone" meaning you and all of your right wing friends, Christine.  The headline of this post should really have been, "Right Wingers Make Fools of Themselves Again!" but unfortunately, if right wingers told the truth, that would be the headline of every item that appears in Wingnut Wrapup.

Town Hall:  "Russia Thinks They Finally Have An Answer To The F-15"

Get scared, people!  The answer to the F-15?  The Russian SU-35, a plane first introduced in the late 1980's.

And how about a little out and out fantasy:

Susan Wright, Town Hall:  "Doubling Down: Steve Bannon Had Nothing To Do With Trump’s Success"

Right, Susan.  We'll keep your opinion in mind.

And what would a descent into wingnuttery be without a visit from The Stupidest Man On The Internet:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "BREAKING: House GOP to File Criminal Charges Against Lois Lerner in IRS Scandal"

Hate to break this to you, Jim, but only the judiciary can file criminal charges, and they exonerated Lois Lerner of any wrongdoing in this Republican smear job months ago.

And please remember that this all revolves around questioning the tax exemption claims of hundreds of right wing political groups who said they were not political, but "social welfare organizations," a condition of getting tax exempt status.  Of course, Lerner was absolutely right: not a single one of these lie factories has a shred of right to tax exempt status, but I guess you are not expected to take that fact into consideration when deciding whether she should be thrown in prison for her attempt to actually uphold the law.

Cristina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "Congress Expands Unmasking Probe to Examine Whether OTHER Presidential Candidates Were Surveilled"

They got nothing, but that won't lead them to drop the whole thing now, will it?

Eric Rush, World Net Daily:  "MR. PRESIDENT: PROSECUTE OBAMA OPERATIVES"

What for?  Who cares?  Well, here's a hint of the grounds:

"...it would behoove the Trump administration to aggressively and even ruthlessly pursue the prosecution of those former Obama administration operatives who materially participated in the clandestine surveillance of Trump’s campaign last year, those who are engaged in the sabotage of the new administration and those progressive ideologues in positions of power who continue to support the radical Obama-era agenda"

So:  first of all, prosecute them for something they didn't do.  Second, prosecute them for continuing to oppose the current administration.  And third, prosecute them for still advocating things they believe in.  Democracy, Hooah!!!

Before its News:  "Shocking New Info Released About Michelle Obama ...Did you know that Michelle Obama’s real name is Michael Robinson?"

Just to show that no lie, no matter how despicable, will ever die with right wingers.  This absurd, disgusting story has been around for years, because Republicans never succeeded in finding one thing wrong with the Obamas, and here it is again; "new news" which is neither new nor news, but just an old lie; i.e. all they have.  Just so you can check it out yourself, here's a photo from a right wing website, showing Robinson and Michelle:

A chance to meditate on what it is about these two photos that might make certain people think they are of the same person.

And let's just hang it up there.  "Bye!

What did the MOAB cost? #MotherOfAllBombs

I see a number saying the government paid $314 million for 20 of them, or about $16 million apiece. That, of course, doesn't count the cost of getting the thing over there and flying it to its target (they are dropped out of cargo planes.)

As a comparison, that works out to about five Trump weekend trips to Mar-a-Lago per bomb. I'll leave it to you to decide which is a better investment.

We must have been watching different films. The Sheriff of Nottingham was always the bad guy in the Robin Hood movies. Perhaps he's Trump's model sheriff.

My favorite director, Chuck Jones, based two films on the Robin Hood legends:
Robin Hood Daffy

I think the link to Rabbit Hood got lost.

The Marvel Comics thing is actually a real, interesting story. Here's an article about it from a non-wingnut source:

http://www.vulture.com/2017/04/marvels-x-men-were-rocked-by-a-hidden-koranic-message.html

tl;dr: an Indonesian artist who's also a Muslim wingnut managed to sneak some coded "Muslims shouldn't vote for non-Muslim politicians" messages into X-Men under his editor's nose (American editors not generally being familiar with Indonesian political controversies) Marvel had to issue an apology and cancel his contract when Indonesians pointed out the hidden messages.

You can bet if the tables were turned and a Christian wingnut artist-for-hire had sneaked anti-Muslim memes into a comic book with a worldwide audience, then Red State would be leaping to the artist's defence. Didn't that actually happen with the newspaper comic "B.C." a number of years ago?

I had seen the Marvel story before, Anonymous, so I knew it was real. I guess the point I was making is that while we have treason and starting a World War to worry about, this is all they can find to ignite their outrage about us.
