Why We Don't Need Blanche Lincoln Any More

Blanche Lincoln yesterday: "Are we willing as Democrats to also push back on our own party and look for that common ground that we need to work with Republicans?" Lincoln asked." Blanche, you disingenuous idiot, how about worrying about pushing back on the Republicans to look for the common ground you need to work with your own party? Ever think of that one? Why not try that for once, and see if it gets you any further than the nowhere you have helped to create for the last year?

Ignorant Vice Presidential Candidate- a Republican Tradition

Dan Quayle (remember him?) on Fox news, transcribed by Talking Points Memo, where you can see the video if you'd like: "They're gonna go to budget reconciliation, which I believe would set a very bad precedent, because essentially -- if they could do it, and I don't know if they can do it, but if they could do it -- what you have done, effectively, is to take away the filibuster in the United States Senate," Quayle said. "So, therefore, you have 51 votes in the House and 51 votes in the Senate. That is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind. That is not the constitutional process." How do I lie to you? Let me count the ways: 1. "That is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind." From an recent article in Time Magazine (this information is easily confirmable lots of places:) "The filibuster, long seen by its proponents as a necessary check on power and by its critics as a frustrating waste of time, has been around since th...

The Black Boehner

Harold Ford, who hopes to be the "Democratic" Senator from New York: "To address the anxiety Americans are feeling, Mr. Ford thinks that the White House needs to focus squarely on the economy. "First we need to cut taxes for businesses in the country, small and large," he says. "We ought to provide a six-month exemption from the payroll tax for all firms less than five years old. We ought to extend the current capital gains and dividend tax rates through 2012. We ought to make permanent all the research and development tax credits for businesses making those investments. And we ought to lower the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%." Just what we need, huh? Another so-called Democrat pushing the entire Republican everything-for-the-rich agenda. This guy is worse than Joe Lieberman. What a surprise that the Wall Street Journal is totally behind him. How many corporate finanaced campaign commercials for this tool do you think New Yorkers will have to...

Same as the Rest

Atrios reports: "Michael Steele has decided to go rogue using his status as RNC chairman to make money while the RNC bleeds money..." I agree, of course, but I'd like to know how that sets him apart from the Bush Administration's management of the country. For that matter, how does it make him different from any Republican?

David Broder, Wrong Again

The World's Most Pathetic Newspaper Columnist, AKA David Broder, carrying on his one-man campaign to revive the Republican party, in the Washington Post today: "Now that the Minnesota Supreme Court has ended the long count on the 2008 Senate race by awarding the seat to Al Franken, Democrats -- at least on paper -- have the power to pass whatever bills they want, without a single Republican vote. Nothing would be a bigger mistake." Oh no, nothing. Because it's an act of colossal stupidity for Democrats to enact the legislation that voters sent them to Washington to pass. Who pays your salary, David, the Washington Post or Mitch McConnell? "Franken, the loud-mouthed former comedian, will be the 60th member of the Senate Democratic caucus-- just enough for them to cut off any filibuster threat if they can muster all their members." Listen you dick, that's Senator Franken the loud-mouth. Deal with it. When did you ever call James Inhofe or Michelle...
