Bait and Switch

I see Trump voters all over the internet crowing over how Trump is keeping every one of his campaign promises!

Well, every one that involves screwing minorities, I guess.  Here's a promise that seems to have escaped their attention:  adopting a longstanding Democratic pledge to let Medicare negotiate bulk discounts in the price it pays for prescription drugs- something that would actually benefit ordinary people.

"Today, after a meeting with pharmaceutical industry lobbyists and executives, he abandoned that pledge, referring to an idea he supported as recently as three weeks ago as a form of “price fixing” that would hurt “smaller, younger companies.” Instead of getting tough, Trump’s new plan is that he’s “going to be lowering taxes” and “getting rid of regulations.”

So, instead of a benefit for consumers, he is going to reduce taxes and regulations on rich people and their companies.  What a refreshing change from past Republican policy, right?

You stupid fucking suckers who voted for Trump- are you starting to get a glimmer of how thoroughly you have been conned?  You voted for a billionaire because you actually thought he wouldn't be beholden to the other billionaires.  You totally ignored the fact that he is one too, and he never did anything in his whole life that wasn't for himself.  So now you've got a President who is bent on enacting the entire Republican agenda of stealing it all for the rich, only this time, he's not going to bother hiding it; he's just going to do it out in the open, and if you object, he'll send the feds for you.  Hitler had to get the enabling act passed in order to neuter the Reichstag-at this point, it seems like it's going to be just fine with Congress if Trump turns them into a powerless debating society.

Congress has the power to bring this all to a stop in a week, and toss him out into the street.  But the Republicans combine gutlessness with having sold their souls to the rich, so that they are just standing there and letting themselves be gelded.  Maybe, like many of the Trump voters, they are just fine with living in a dictatorship.

Monday, January 30, 2017

I've noticed in the last day or two that the Trump people seem to be trying to clean up Bannon.  I think it is important to have a record of exactly what the Trump voters have put in charge of the country:
Good work, Republicans.  I bet you are so proud of yourselves.

The Ultimate Putin Payoff?

I'm trying not to make the same comments everyone else is making about Trump, but here is an issue that has not received much attention:  Trump's threats to abrogate the NATO treaty, if other NATO members don't cough up unspecified amounts of money.  Here's a report from a little while ago, from the Atlantic:

"Donald Trump’s apparent rejection of the cornerstone of global security after World War II has stunned U.S. partners in the alliance...America’s NATO allies may be on their own after November if Russia attacks them.

At issue is NATO’s Article 5 on collective defense, which states that an “armed attack against one or more of them [members] in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all...”

Well, the interpretation of this position of Trump's has mostly involved the implicit extortion of money from NATO allies by threatening not to aid them if they are attacked, but it has occurred to me that the actual truth might be the exact opposite.

What if Trump's real intention, as the ultimate gift to his master, Vladimir Putin, was to end the commitment of all the other NATO allies to come to our own country's defenses in the case of an attack?  And don't even pretend that this would not be totally in line with Trump's sabotage of our intelligence capacity, his removing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council, leaving it without military input, his apparent attempt to end sanctions against Russia, and everything else he has done to further the power of Vladimir Putin.

This would be a betrayal of our country beyond even the imaginations of his fiercest opponents, isolating us from our allies and leaving us to stand up to any Russian behavior alone.  Well, think about it, because I believe it is all too likely that this is not a conspiracy theory, but true.

The Next Necessary Move

We know that Democrats that emerged from last month's intelligence briefing about Putin's blackmailing of Trump and interference in our elections were enraged, and they have said that if Americans knew what was in that briefing, they would be screaming to get Trump out of there.

Well, okay, guys.  It is time to do what has to be done.  At this time in our history the need of the American people to know what is in those briefings is a thousand times bigger than any secrecy laws.  Unfortunately, if someone does the right thing and makes those briefings public, the Trump administration will slaughter them.  There is only one answer.  Every single Democratic member of Congress, and I mean every one of them, must join together in the release of this information.  Let us see Trump arrest the entire leadership of the opposing party, and accuse them of treason, after we have seen the evidence that it is Trump himself who is the traitor.  That would pretty well show the world what Trump has in store for the country.  If it is not to send him from the White House to prison, then nothing will be and our country is lost anyway.

I will be sending this recommendation along to the Democrats in Congress.  Given their traditional gutlessness, I can't see it happening, so I suppose we will just continue our slide into dictatorship.

Breaking Down

Some more Twittering from Donald Trump, this time directed toward John McCain and Lindsay Graham:

"The joint statement of former presidential candidates John McCain & Lindsey Graham is wrong - they are sadly weak on immigration. The two Senators should focus their energies on ISIS, illegal immigration and border security instead of always looking to start World War III."

Listen, I think McCain and Graham are craven jerks, who talk a good game before inevitably going along with whatever piggishness the Republican party comes up with.  Still, coming from the President of the United States, this is pure lunacy.  The man is deranged.  So, John and Lindsey, are you going to do the right thing and initiate Trump's removal from office, or are you just talking big, before helping him enact his criminal agenda?

Treason and Sabotage

I have stated in the last couple of weeks that Donald Trump's undermining of our national security apparatus, his publicly accusing them of being Nazis, his stated commitment to doing away with much of their ability, is not some specimen of his obvious mental incapacity, but is a payment to Vladimir Putin, in the form of destroying our country's ability to foresee and deal with international threats.

Not many people seem to agree with me about that, but I think Trump just proved that I am actually right, with the most treasonous and subversive act he has yet made as President.

Today, Trump removed the Director of National Intelligence and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council, and unbelievably replaced them with neo-Nazi propagandist Steve Bannon.  It is almost impossible to express in words what a treacherous betrayal of our national interests this is.  At this point, it is absolutely clear that Trump is endeavoring to destroy our nation's security apparatus.  This is, as I have said, a massive act of treason, and a clear sign that he is indeed a tool of Vladimir Putin.

In a decent country, even a Republican controlled Congress would remove him from power in two days, but this is no longer a decent country, it is a Republican one, so God only knows how much pain we will have to suffer before he is gone, and replaced by someone who isn't just as bad.

Crazy Leader

No point, really.  I just liked the picture:

March For Life, Yeah!

Many of you may be unaware of this, but the Inaugural and the Women's March were not the only great outpourings of Americans into Washington D. C. this month.  Today is the 44th annual MARCH FOR LIFE!

And this year, for the first time ever, the event is headlined by the beloved Vice President of the United States, the honorable Mike Pence!  This would, of course, not have been a first, except that for eight years in a row, Dick Cheney was unable to accept this great honor, having had a previous engagement at the March for Death, which took place annually in his office.

Anyway, enough with the dumb jokes, huh?  As is usual, Green Eagle is on the story, which Fox News is covering as follows:

"Pence fires up massive March for Life crowd...Vice President Mike Pence fired up a huge crowd at Friday's March for Life in Washington, telling the pro-life throng their movement is succeeding.  The 43rd annual event was the third massive event in the nation’s capital this week, and drew activists from around the country."

Well, how massive was it?  Curiously, not a single source that I could find seemed to want to be very specific about this, and virtually no pictures were taken from an angle allowing us to see this "massive crowd."  As usual, here is the photo I found, showing the largest number of people*

Judging from this, and one other similar photo that was, unfortunately, in a format that did not allow me to copy it here, I'm guessing that the crowd was in the range of 10-20,000.  MASSIVE!!!

A few comments from an actual news organization- the Washington Post:

"By 10 a.m. the crowd had packed in front of the stage, as hundreds more streamed in to the security checkpoint and down the sidewalks leading to the Mall.

Most were in school and church groups, carrying posters

EventsDC said that 92 buses have obtained permits to park at RFK Stadium on Friday, compared with 450 buses that requested permits for Inauguration Day and 1,200 buses for the Women’s March."

Hundreds more streamed in!  And, as the Washington Post clearly indicates, most of the attendees were in groups organized by the Catholic Church.

Let's just be clear here:  This is a synthetic event, paid for by the Catholic Church, and even so, it managed to gather an audience about 1/25th of the number who came to the Women's march in Washington, if that.  In other words, as with the many other right wing events covered by Green Eagle over the years, a colossal humiliation, which will nevertheless be portrayed by the right wing media and a sad number of supposedly mainstream sources too, as proof of the existence of a huge movement in favor of Republican policies.

No real news here; the existence of a large number of supporters of the Republican agenda has always been a myth, but it's just as well to keep a record of things like this, in our current era of Whatever The Republicans Say Is True.

UPDATE:  I have now seen a picture that may show as much as 30,000 people (whoopee!) I haven't confirmed yet that it is actually from this event, as Conservatives routinely use photos from other events to try to pretend their marches succeeded- I've already seen some from the Women's march passed off as photos of today's fiasco.  I try to be fair about this, however, so I thought I would mention it.

*This is excluding numerous photos from wingnut sources, alleged to be from today's march that were clearly from some other event.  A number of them were from last week's Women's March.  Well, no one ever said these guys were not shameless.

America Today

Here are the new characteristics of the United States government under Trump:

He has asserted the right to commit armed aggression against other countries in order to seize their resources.  This is the doctrine of Lebensraum, which was central to Nazi ideology.

He has asserted the right to use armed force to make cities in the United States do as he commands, which would be clearly illegal in this country but is standard with dictators, from Hitler to Assad, to just about any other one you could mention.

He has commanded that only information that supports his positions, true or false, may be propagated by the government.

He has begun attacking his opponents with patently false charges, implicitly threatening anyone who calls him out on his lies, calling them his enemies.

He has appointed underlings committed to destroying the legal apparatus of government, and using their power for his purposes only.

This right here is enough for any halfway awake person to realize that Trump is hell-bent on turning the United States into a fascist dictatorship as fast as possible.  And he is on the way.

Well, that's the whole message.  More soon, I am sure.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

I must tell you that today I feel overwhelmed by the torrent of abominations being perpetrated on an almost hourly basis by Trump.

As you know, I have predicted for years that the end-game of the Republican party is to devolve the country into a totalitarian dictatorship.  Well, they seem to have now found someone ready and willing to play the role of dictator.  That does not surprise me, but what has shaken me has been the speed, across so many fronts, with which they are deliberately destroying all norms of decency and morality in government.  Destroying any notion of truth, denying the concept that people are not at the top of our government for personal profit, threatening openly to invade other countries to steal their resources, talking about sending the military into cities that don't do what he tells them, betraying the country to a foreign dictator, destroying the health care system and public education, licensing the plundering of the environment by those of us rich enough to do it, openly advocating torture as an instrument of government policy, it just goes on and on, and this is only day five.

I just can't really find the words to turn this into a consistent narrative.

Trump's miserable failure of an inauguration, coupled with the size and energy of the marches the next day, truly ended any pretense that he has a mandate to govern, or the backing of any but a small minority of the country.  Rather than slow him down, however, it has, I believe, sped him up.  He intends to do as much damage to the country as he can, before someone, somehow, stops him.  What that will be, I don't know, but it had better come fast.

A True Abomination

I now must try to deal with something which will seem innocuous to many, but is by far the worst abomination yet perpetrated by Trump.  I have been thinking about this for several hours, since I first heard about it, and for once in my life I find myself unable to muster words that describe the true evil and danger of this course of action, but it must be addressed, so here I go.

It was revealed today that, immediately after the inauguration, Trump issued a proclamation declaring his own inauguration day to be a “National Day of Patriotic Devotion.”

“Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, president of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Jan. 20, 2017, as National Day of Patriotic Devotion, in order to strengthen our bonds to each other and to our country...

There is no freedom where the people do not believe in it; no law where the people do not follow it; and no peace where the people do not pray for it.”
The declaration does not apply to inaugurations in general, only to his.  This is not about the country, it is about Donald Trump himself.  It is Trump who is to be the target of patriotic devotion.

With this act, the time has come when it is not just appropriate but necessary to refer to Trump as Hitlerian.

I believe I know a pretty fair amount about Germany, from its creation as a country in the early 1870's to the end of World War II, and in many ways I have resisted comparing Trump personally to Hitler.  Hitler was a person damaged by a cruel upbringing, and by failure and poverty in his early manhood in Vienna.  He fought honorably in World War I, and then entered political life in a country crushed by its loss in that war, and devastated by the hyper-inflation of the early 1920's. He had a detailed (if obviously repulsive) program for his country, spelled out in the mid 1920's, in his book, Mein Kampf, and from which he never deviated.  Both personally, and in his circumstances, Hitler was vastly different than the coddled, rich bully Trump.  Well, Trump has now, immediately on ascending to the Presidency, ascended past those differences.

Those who know about the early days of Nazi rule know that, as soon as Hitler thought he could get away with it, he began the forced transfer of loyalty from the government to himself.  Soldiers, Nazi party members, and all government employees were forced to take oaths of loyalty to him.  Here is an example of German soldiers taking this oath:

And this is clearly what Trump intends to do.  We can now talk about him as a true despot, who intends to throw off the chains of two centuries and more of American laws and ideals, to enshrine himself as entitled by his very nature to rule the country forever.  This single act should suffice for any informed person to utterly reject him, and refuse to recognize that, in any way, he has a right to determine the course of our land.  Unfortunately, our sycophantic press will dismiss this act as having no real significance, and consequently, virtually no American will perceive what has just happened, or even realize that it took place.

Wingnut Wrapup, Trumpapalooza Edition

Today's Wingnut Wrapup respectfully dedicated to Marc Lamont Hill, a black Sheriff who has decided to cast his lot with Donald Trump, and who sensitively had this to say about another black man:

"I am tired of this jigaboo telling black people who they should be, what they should do. He's a lackey for Democrats"

So that is what we have come to in this country, thanks to the VERY NOT RACIST Donald Trump, and what he has licensed.  I guess that if you are for him, you are now free to call black people jigaboos.  FREEDOM!!!!  So that's what they mean when they use the word freedom.  It's not just about flying the Confederate flag any more.  And let me say once again that the highest accomplishment that any Conservative can strive for, is to get his racist, white supremacist garbage to come out of the mouth of a black man.  Well, let's just move on here, before I get sick on my keyboard.

And a shout out to right wing talk show host Tomi Lahren:
"Tomi Lahren says it's no wonder a lot of Donald Trump supporters were no-shows at the inauguration, because she says she was attacked by a left wing mob right in the street. We got the super conservative talk show host in D.C. Saturday night, where she mocked what she called the "loving, intolerant left." She says the viciousness in the air is why the Trump crowd was smaller than other inaugurations. ..."

That's right, no one showed up at Trump's inaugural because they were afraid of being cold-cocked by someone in a pink hat.  So far, that's the best excuse for their humiliation I've heard yet.

Well, let's just move on.  And may I note that, in general, the wingnuts have responded to Trump's inaugural disgrace by just ignoring it.  Of course, there was this:

Ryan Saavedra, Gateway Pundit:  "REPORT: Expert Says Only 800,000 Attended Obama’s 1st Inauguration NOT 1.8 Million; Comparing Apples To Oranges"

Alternative facts on the march!  Of course, that would still be three times the number that Trump got.

A couple of weeks and they will start in earnest to rewrite history, but right now, not much to report on that front.

Justin Holcomb, Town Hall:  "Obama's Lie: Guantanamo Bay to Remain Open"

Once again, blaming Obama for what Republicans forced on him.

And a masterpiece from the king of self-delusion, the legendary Stupidest Man on the Internet:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Trump Added-Saved 1.3 Million Jobs Before His First Full Day of Work!"

Talk about alternative facts.

Governor Matt Bevin, Town Hall:  "Great Once Again...This week our nation will experience a wonderful American political tradition, as we witness the peaceful transfer of executive power. The new President will assume office riding a wave of voter enthusiasm not seen since Reagan."

Just say anything, no matter how big a lie.  Trump has the lowest approval of any President elect since polling began, and right now he's on a path to sink into the 20's by spring.  That's a real wave of voter enthusiasm, all right.

"...people in Kentucky, Ohio, the United States and across the world have been waiting for someone to step up, to stand up, to boldly say what needs to be said, and to speak the truth unapologetically. "

The truth.  Fact checkers have rated three quarters of everything Trump says as lies.  But to right wingers, lies are the truth, I guess.  Always have been, always will be.

Tyler O'Neal, PJ Media:  "Joss Whedon Wants 'A Rhino to F**k Speaker Ryan to Death'

Sounds like a plan to me.  And on the plus side, it already has more details than the Republicans have managed to come up with in eight years for their Obamacare replacement.

Ryan Saavedra, Gateway Pundit:  "REPORT: Obama Scores Worst Legislative Record In History...A new report released by the Washington Times suggests that President Barack Obama has the worst legislative record in history.  Over the course of his eight years, he has signed just 1,227 bills into law — less, even, than one-term Presidents Carter and George H.W. Bush. Digging deeper into the numbers, Congress spent less time in session, handled less business on the chamber floors and generally sputtered for much of Mr. Obama’s tenure, according to The Times’ index."

And this is all Obama's fault.  Not the actual Republicans who controlled Congress, and swore the day he was elected to destroy him.  I BLAME OBAMA!

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Pro-life Group: We Were Never Given an Explanation Why We Were Dropped As Sponsor From Women's March"

And I guess you just couldn't figure it out on your own.

John C. Goodman, Town Hall:  "The Left is Panicking Over Donald Trump"

And you're not?  Headline I imagine from 1933:  "The Left is Panicking Over Hitler.  Relax, Guys, He is Going to be Great!  The Greatest!"

Helen Raleigh, Town Hall:  "It's In Our Nation's Interests to Give Betsy a Chance"

It's in our interest to let a lunatic Christian fanatic destroy public education.  Oh, I can see how that would be true, right.

And now a specimen of mammoth delusion.  Or just a typical Republican lie.  Take your pick:

Jeff Crouere, Town Hall:  "The Best Presidential Transition In American History...Despite constant media criticism and harassment, Trump assembled an outstanding cabinet filled with individuals of extraordinary talent...
His critics also complained that he picked too many wealthy business magnates; however, these are exactly the type of people that the country requires right now."

Individuals of extraordinary talent.  Extraordinary talent at enriching themselves at the expense of everyone else.  Just like Trump.

Kimberley Ross, Red State:  "Sorry, Women’s March. You Can’t Truly Be Pro-Woman Unless You’re Pro-Life"

Says you, asshole.

Jay Caruso:  "Alt-Right Leader, Richard Spencer, Punched In The Face By Protester"

In a just world, this Nazi would have been beaten within an inch of his life, and only kept alive so he could be executed for treason.

Rick Moran, PJ Media:  "Do We Elect a President to 'Put America Second'?  What's wrong with being "Nationalistic?"

Oh, I don't know, maybe this:

Or this:

But apparently, enough time has passed since 1945 that it is time to give it a try again.

Tyler O'Neil, PJ Media:  "Franklin Graham to the Clueless Liberal Media: 'Rain Is a Blessing'

Why of course it is.  It started raining the minute Trump began his speech.  It would have been even more a proof of his blessing if he'd been hit by lightning.  That would have really been an anointment by God.

David P. Goldman, PJ Media:  "Donald Trump, American Hero...The protagonists of American popular culture are outsiders with scant patience for authority. The Western heroes invented by Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour and portrayed by William S. Hart or John Wayne, and their urban cousins -- the private detectives of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler -- play loose with the law and play dirty with the opposition, but they have an inviolable inner code. They don’t betray their friends and they don’t exploit the weak."

And exactly how does this describe Trump?  I never knew that the guys in Zane Grey novels or Dashiell Hammett's detectives were born-rich, sexually abusive bullies who cheat anyone they can out of anything, and then brag about how wonderful they are.  Man, it is going to be hard for these wingnut paid propaganda writers to sanitize this guy, but if they think anyone ever is going to see Trump as the new Sam Spade, or imagine him riding off on a horse into the purple sage, they are a lunatic.

PJ Media:  "It Didn't Take Long for the Media to Compare Trump to 'Hitler's Rise'"

Well, it is sort of obvious, isn't it?

Christina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "Violent Leftist Protesters Shatter Windows Of A Starbucks In Downtown D.C.!"

Oh my God!  A WINDOW!!!!  SHATTERED!!!!  At a STARBUCKS!!!!!  Meanwhile, Trump shatters medical care for 20 million people, but no sense bringing up something that insignificant.

Michael Gaynor, Renew America:  "These days leftist losers exemplify sore losers, and they are shameless about it"

Michael, say what you really feel.  Something like:  "These days loser leftist losers exemplify sore losers, and they are shameless losers about it, losers.  Losers, losers losers!!!!  LOSERS!!!!1!!!@!! " There, doesn't that feel so much better?  Loser.

And a little rewriting of history?

Wes Vernon, Renew America:  "In the middle of the 20th century, the world made an almost seamless transition from the residue of World War II straight into a highly troubling aftermath.

Reports and hearings, in and out of Congress, showed that a demonstrably hostile force on both a worldwide scale and here at home had attained influence in many of the areas of society – education, entertainment, news media, powerful foundations, family relations; and also government, especially our own State Department, whose propaganda and "diplomatic" efforts had the effect of foisting upon us a Communist China."

Man, I thought that kind of lying went out with the John Birch society.

Mark A. Hewitt, American Thinker:  "We Need a Law to Prevent Another President Obama"

This article is filled with tendentious and utterly false nonsense about what it means to be a "natural born citizen," but let's just cut to the chase here.  We know damned well what they mean when they want to prevent "another President Obama."

David Krayden, Daily Caller:  "Trump Inauguration Speech Spared The Poetry And The BS"

I.e. it was dead boring and full of angry crap.

Ted Goodman, Daily Caller:  "Trump Signs Two Executive Orders, Takes First Actions As President"

Remember when executive orders were Communist abuses of the Constitution?  Oh yeah, that was last week.  By the way, Trump has signed a bunch more already.

Truepundit:  "Mattis Celebrates First Day At Pentagon By Blowing Up ISIS 31 Times"

Remember when using executive power to drop bombs was an unconstitutional ground for impeachment?  That was last week too.

Truepundit:  "GREAT AGAIN: Supermarket chain Kroger to fill 10,000 permanent positions.
Supermarket operator Kroger Co said on Monday it would fill 10,000 positions this year, joining a list of companies that have publicized routine hiring plans as President Donald Trump puts pressure on companies to employ more U.S. workers."

I guess they are just hiring them to stand around and do nothing, since they apparently are hiring them only because TRUMP!  Actually, this is a decrease over the number that Kroger hired last year. Trump will probably claim credit for those jobs too.

Truepundit:  "Democrats put aside decorum to immediately resist Donald Trump"

Decorum.  Trump.  In the same sentence.  Amazing.

Connor Balough, Prntly:  "Syria Activist: Where Were You When Obama’s Terrorists Enslaved Iraqi And Syrian Women?"

Obama's terrorists enslaved women.  I tried to find out when that happened, but when I clicked on the link, I was taken to a site trying to get me to buy something from Ron Paul.  So I guess we will never know about Obama's terrorists.  Sorry.

Shelby Carrella, Prntly:  "Trump just saved taxpayers billions by FREEZING pay raises and hiring for Federal Workers"

He can save  more by just using slaves.  That will be next.  And by the way, more proof that all Conservatives care about is "cut my taxes," and the well being of anyone else, including workers who have devoted their lives to the country, means not one damned thing.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Organizer For DC Women’s March Against Trump Pictured Flashing the ISIS Sign"

And here they are, the horror:
This is just intolerable.  Proof that all liberals are really Muslim terrorists!!!  And believe me, it doesn't stop there:

And God be Praised, that is all I can take today.  The wingnuts are raving like never before, but I'm worn out.

Is there no behavior so despicable that it is beneath Donald Trump?  Here's a tidbit from Britain's The Independent:

"Donald Trump delivered a rambling, boastful speech on Saturday in front of CIA staffers in an attempt to win over support in the intelligence community"

If you watch the video feed, which was totally focused on Trump and did not show the audience, you will hear applause and cheering.

"...Pool reports later clarified that the attendants who were cheering and clapping when Mr Trump spoke were not CIA staffers but people who accompanied Mr Trump to the briefing."

He brought his own paid stooges with him to cheer and clap to fool the American people into thinking that the CIA attendees were on his side, despite his having savaged them repeatedly during his campaign.  And it largely worked, because most American coverage of his remarks makes no mention of the fact that the applause he got was phony.

This was the first speech he has delivered to a government agency, and right from the beginning, they were used as nothing but unwitting props for his display of egomania and narcissism.

We are on a steep downhill path in this country, and how low we will get before it is over, God only knows.

Off With His Head!

A few days ago, I posted a prediction of how the Trump Presidency would work out, with the Republicans in Congress forcing Trump to go along with every bit of piggish legislation they have dreamed of for years, and then kicking his ass to the curb.

I just came across an article about a Facebook post by Robert Reich, which reported this:

"Writing on Facebook, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich relayed a conversation with a former GOP member of Congress who claims current members of the House are playing along with President Donald Trump for now but will dump him at the first possible moment...“They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.”

They all think Trump is out of his mind,” he explained. “So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will …”

“They impeach him?” Reich asked.

“You bet. They pull the trigger,” was the reply."

Well, Robert Reich could be as wrong as Green Eagle, but it's interesting to observe that others are starting to see the outlines of a similar future for Donald Trump.  As I predicted, Trump will not go like Nixon; he will fight back with every dirty trick he knows, and he knows plenty.  It will be one of the greatest entertainments that any government ever provided to its citizens.

Too bad that, at the end of it all, we'll end up with Mike Pence, or Paul Ryan.  Otherwise, it would be a real treat.

An Inaugural Followup

A few things to add to my previous comments.  First of all, expert opinion seems to be settling in on a number of attendees at Trump's inaugural of around 250,000, not the 300-350, 000 that I had settled on.  I hope this is not too much inside baseball, but I believe there are two reasons that I arrived at my erroneously high number.  First of all, I initially started with a number of 600,000, before there were really clear pictures, and I guess when I saw the real photos, I just couldn't bring myself to believe a number that is so low.  And I don't like to underestimate their crowds, because they are always so small as it is, and I want to be able to defend my numbers as not being motivated by wishful thinking. It's not often that I am not cynical enough about Republicans, but this was one of the times. And here is another factor that I have realized for some time, but that I often forget.  Republican crowds are, in the aggregate, older than Democratic crowds, and the older people are, the more resistant they are to being packed in tightly with other people.  That alone should have probably shaved 30-50,000 off of my estimate.

Well, okay, on to an article this morning from the New York Times:

"Crowd Scientists Say Women’s March in Washington Had 3 Times More People Than Trump’s Inauguration...Marcel Altenburg and Keith Still, crowd scientists at Manchester Metropolitan University in Britain, analyzed photographs and video taken of the National Mall and vicinity and estimated that there were about 160,000 people in those areas in the hour leading up to Mr. Trump’s speech Friday.

They estimated that at least 470,000 people were at the women’s march in Washington in the areas on and near the mall at about 2 p.m. Saturday."

I guess they are assuming about 90,000 ticketed people between the reflecting pool and the Capitol.  That number seems significantly too high to me, but let's just leave the total at 250,000, or about one seventh the size of the crowd at Obama's 2009 inaugural.  That is a humiliation for Trump so profound that cutting his estimated attendance even further could hardly make it worse.

Here is a very interesting graphic from the Times article:

Obama Inaugural crowd- 2008- the areas outlined in red are the areas of maximum crowd density
Trump Inaugural crowd
Women's march crowd

Well, I don't even think I need to explain this to you.  The events of these two days have stamped on the nation's consciousness the illegitimacy of Trump's Presidency, and how few people actually support him and his piggish, treasonous agenda.

The only thing to discuss about this any more is the insistence of Trump and his surrogates that his inaugural was the largest ever, despite the obviously ludicrous nature of those claims.  People are writing this off as a product of Trump's diseased ego, and while I take a back seat to no one in accepting that he truly has one of the sickest egos ever to be seen, I think there is something else going on here.  Right from the first full day of his Presidency, he is attempting to bully the American people into accepting whatever he says as true, no matter how patently false.  His speech at the CIA was little more than a mixture of self-adulation combined with an implicit but clear warning of the danger of contradicting him in any way, and the behavior of his spokesmen yesterday and today only reinforced the threat that Trump is going to force people not to say a thing in public that counters his narrative.  This is the behavior of Nazis, of Stalinists.  We'll see how far the supine mainstream media in this country go to abet him in forcing the American people to accept his lies, over and over again.

Women's March

Well, preliminary evidence is coming in about today's Women's March on Washington.  Here are a couple of pictures, and then my comments:

The lower picture is of the Mall, of course, looking from the Capitol toward the Washington Monument.  The other is on an adjacent street.  It is very difficult to calculate the size of this demonstration, because there is tremendous spillover from the Mall onto the parade route.  Even so, it is obvious that there are far more people on the Mall alone than attended the Inaugural. News sources report far larger attendance that expected, with size estimates in the 500,000 range, or close to twice the number of people who attended the Inaugural.  And remember that this is one of many marches being held today, with those in the large cities likely well above 100,000.  150,000, for example, were reported in Chicago, and I can tell you that my wife and I tried to go to the one in Los Angeles, only to find that it was impossible to drive and park downtown, and there was a three hour wait at the metro stations.

More to follow, but I think the American people are delivering a decided message today, and that message is, "Screw you, Donald Trump."  I was very active back in Vietnam days, and I must tell you that this is the first time in all the decades since then that I have felt the level of commitment and anger that I saw then.  Trump, in concert with Congressional Republicans, may very well be able to do tremendous damage to this country in a short period, but they may very well have awakened something which is going to crush them out of existence, and take control of the country away from their hate-filled, racist, vicious supporters forever.

"Unbelievable, Perhaps Record-Setting Turnout"

Well, that was Donald Trump's prediction for his big day.  And how did that work out for you, Donald?

Green Eagle loves to make a record of the turnout for right wing demonstrations, which is inevitably a small fraction of what they claim, and I am not going to stop now.  Better pictures will undoubtedly emerge in the next few days, but here is what we can see already:
Oh wait, my bad- wrong picture.  Oh yeah, here it is:
A little hard to see what is going on here.  Just for your information, for some reason, the ground on the mall has been covered in white plastic for Trump's inauguration.  Maybe someone had the idea of just rolling it up and using it as giant garbage bags to dispose of the Trump supporters.  Unfortunately, they apparently scattered like cockroaches before the cleanup crews arrived.

Well, what can we see here?  The photos are a little bit hard to see.  They were apparently taken from the top of the Washington Monument, so they don't show the whole Obama crowd, which went all the way back to the monument.  The Obama crowd was estimated to have been about 1,800.000 people.  I think it is clear even in these inadequate views that Trump would be stretching things to claim that even a third as many turned out for his inaugural- we are being kind to credit him with 600,000, which, for comparison, would be about twice the size of the last large Iraq war protest, several years ago.

Other measure would seem to comport with this.

"The Washington transit agency tweeted a little before noon that there were 193,000 trips taken by 11 a.m., down from 513,000 by the same time on Jan 20, 2009"

When you consider that Friday is a work day for many people, and that at least a fair number of these trips must be for other purposes, this is pretty stark, and would be well within the likelihood that Trump's crowd was no more than a third the size of Obama's.

We've seen even greater disparity in the number of bus parking permits applied for by Trump's people, and not just Obama's, but even the vastly larger number of permits issued for tomorrow's march against Trump.  Or  consider this story:

"The crowd also did not appear to be great for commerce. Vendors Karone Williams and Dominique Christian set up a table full of Donald Trump merchandise only blocks from the White House. But two hours into their gig, they had sold only six items: a couple of hats, some T-shirts and a $5 rain poncho.

“It’s been real slow,’’ said Williams, a D.C. native. “We’re just trying to make a few pennies."

Williams couldn’t explain the slow business."

No, but I think just about every sane person in America could.  And lady, Trump's Presidency is about him making money, not you.  Deal with it.

But of course, our magnificent mainstream media are already on the job, arguing away the significance of this humiliation.  The Washington Post already has this to say:

"So we can assume that Trump's inauguration was not quite as popular as Obama's...To a large extent, such comparisons are simply a form of partisan competitiveness."

A third of the crowd at best is "not quite as popular," and anyway, it is meaningless, so forget about it.  Even though we know the Republicans would be trumpeting it to the skies as the greatest mandate ever if the crowd sizes had been reversed.

We have never, even with the stolen election of George W. Bush, seen a President enter the White House with less right to be there, and the American people, at least the sane ones, despite lecturing by the press, know it damned well.  Now, let's see how Trump's supporters compare to the people who show up in Washington tomorrow.

UPDATE:  And here is a better picture, clearer and showing more of the Obama crowd:
Looking at these two views, I would say that Trump would be floating in a sea of delusion to claim that he even got a third of Obama's crowd.  This looks more like 300,000 max.  And remember that the people can get on the Capitol side of the reflecting pool by invitation only, so those are the committed partisans.  The people on the mall side of the reflecting pool represent the ordinary citizens who showed up for the event, and I don't think I am being unreasonable to wonder if there are even 100,000 of them.

UPDATE 2:  Let the lying begin!  Here is the picture that is now featured as the background at Donald Trump's Twitter page:
The crowd in the background is actually a photo of Obama's 2009 inauguration.  There is no lie so despicable and so easily disproven that they will not trot it out.

UPDATE 3:  And the parade!  I first saw news of this shortly after the inauguration, but I didn't quite trust the source, and I wasn't sure that the photos were taken during the parade, and not before or after.  Well, here is Mike Pence walking past the bleacher area:
And one more...I can't resist:
And what you are looking at here are the VIP stands.  He couldn't even get the Republican leaders to make his show look even barely normal.  The English language does not contain words sufficient to explain what a humiliation this is.

No one showed up for the parade either. I read somewhere that there were more people in the parade than watching it.  Man, this is pathetic.

Inaugural- Let the Lies Begin

Long time readers of this blog will know that one of the things I have continually covered is right wing marches and demonstrations, contrasting the wingnuts' claims about them with reality.  I have been assuming that such a fact check is going to be needed for the Trump Inauguration, which every sign seems to indicate is going to be pretty pathetic, but Trump got out ahead of me, and has been making public claims about the crowd that turned out in front of the Lincoln Memorial, for his Inaugural Concert of Has Been Musicians.  Here courtesy of Buzz Feed, are Trump's claims:

Trump thanked people for coming by the “thousands and thousands” and added that he didn’t know if a concert outside the Lincoln Memorial had ever been done.
“This started out tonight being a small little concert, and then we had the idea maybe we’ll do it in front of the Lincoln Memorial. I don’t know if it’s ever been done before,” Trump said. “But if it has, very seldom. And the people came by the thousands and thousands, and here we are tonight, all the way back. All the way back.”
“We thought it would be a small concert and tens of thousands of people were there,” Trump said. “It went all the way to the back. They never had so many people. And very few people ever had a concert at the Lincoln memorial.”
Trump apparently did not check very far back into history, or he would have discovered that President Obama had a similar concert in 2009.

Or maybe he was just lying, as usual.  Anyway, MSNBC estimated the crowd at 10,000.

I was unable to find a decent picture of the crowd at this event, but here is one from Obama's concert:
Estimates of the size of this crowd were in the range of 400,000.

More to come tomorrow, you can be sure.

Making America Great Again

Well, at last we have a concrete proposal from Donald Trump about how he plans to make America great again.

"In an interview Wednesday with the Washington Post, President-elect Donald Trump was asked just exactly how he plans to make good on his promise to make America great again. One potential he floated to the Post‘s Karen Tumulty: military parades in DC and New York showing off the armed forces’ human and materiel strength.
The Post reports:
“Being a great president has to do with a lot of things, but one of them is being a great cheerleader for the country,” Trump said. “And we’re going to show the people as we build up our military, we’re going to display our military.
“That military may come marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. That military may be flying over New York City and Washington, D.C., for parades. I mean, we’re going to be showing our military,” he added."

And what a magnificent way to increase the welfare of the American people.  After all, Trump will be joining a long tradition of doing this to improve the lot of citizens:
 Soviet military parade-catch the date
  Military parade by you-know-who
And let's not leave this guy out.

Yes, Trump will be joining a long tradition of substituting displays of belligerence for any meaningful work on behalf of the country, but then what else did his people vote for, but more hatred?  Americans, I hope you can find a way to pay the rent or your medical bills with these parades, because you aren't going to be getting much help any other way.

Reality Versus Republicans, ACA Edition

Health care- just who to believe?  A knotty problem.

The Republicans' intentions regarding Obamacare, according to the Congressional Budget Office, would accomplish the following:

The number of people who are uninsured would increase by 18 million in the first new plan year following enactment of the bill. Later, after the elimination of the ACA’s expansion of Medicaid eligibility and of subsidies for insurance purchased through the ACA marketplaces, that number would increase to 27 million, and then to 32 million in 2026.

Premiums in the nongroup market (for individual policies purchased through the marketplaces or directly from insurers) would increase by 20 percent to 25 percent—relative to projections under current law—in the first new plan year following enactment. The increase would reach about 50 percent in the year following the elimination of the Medicaid expansion and the marketplace subsidies, and premiums would about double by 2026.

So, to be brief, the Republicans' almost unchangeable intentions are going to steal medical coverage from a tenth of the population, and double the cost of insurance for everyone else.

Of course, Republicans see things differently.  As reported at Daily Kos, they are taking this tack:

Congressman Steve Scalise:  "CBO misses the point. Obamacare will be replaced with lower costs and more choices."

Well, actually higher costs and less choices, but why quibble over a couple of details?

The Stupidest Story of the Day

From James Hohman at the Washington Post, and no, I don't link to anyone who writes this kind of garbage:

"Monica Crowley’s announcement shows that rules of politics still apply for Trump

Donald Trump and his team believe that the rules and norms of Washington do not apply to them. They are wrong, and yesterday brought a significant proof point."

So he ditched a spokesman that embarrassed him in public.  That does away with the corruption and treason, I guess, as well as the daily signs that he is mentally unstable.  It does away with the bullying and deliberate incitement of racism.  It does away with his willing use of the Presidency to harm anyone who stands in his way.  Get ready, folks, it's time for the mainstream media to go into overdrive to force us to accept that Trump is just a normal President.

A Brief Note

I had my e-mail account hacked a few days ago, and since then, I have not gotten a single comment on any of my posts.  I'm not the most popular guy on the internet, but it's gone on long enough that I'm beginning to think something is wrong.  I'll try to figure it out, but in the meantime, forgive me if your comments are not posted.

Update:  I found the comments.  For some reason, Blogger has stopped sending them to my e-mail, but they are in the management section of my blog.  Why?  Who the hell knows- they certainly never told me about the change.

Wingnut Wrapup

Back again already. They're howling at the moon these days:

Kurt Schlichter, Town Hall:  "Obama Fades Away As Trump Laughs At His Enemies"

Well, Kurt, his enemies are laughing back.

Deal with it.

Bryan Crabtree, Town Hall:  "Trump vs. Lewis: The Civil Rights Crisis in Atlanta — There is a civil rights crisis in Atlanta. While I'm not specifically referring to the battle of words between Congressman John Lewis (D-GA) and President-elect Donald Trump, it makes this the proper time.

Atlanta is full of modern-day plantations. The policies of leaders like Lewis have led to the entrapment of millions of minorities who are stuck in poverty, bad schools and crime-ridden neighborhoods."

More lies for the white crackers out there to consume.  Thanks for that, Bryan.  John Lewis represents the richest part of Atlanta, just to be clear.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "Here's Who Will Deliver The Oath of Office To Mike Pence"

As if we care, Christine.  Unless they are going to arrest him immediately afterwards, for lying when he promises to uphold the Constitution.

Christopher Malagasi, Town Hall:  "Supply-Side Legend Arthur Laffer Authors New Economics Book for Children"

Not a bad career move, since no sane adult could possibly believe his supply side bullshit at this point.

Davenji, Red State:  "Winning The Climate Change War: It’s The Economy, Stupid...there lies the real solution in winning the climate change debate: the economy and, more specifically, the effects of the proposed solutions on the wallets of the electorate."

It will just cost too much to keep our children and grandchildren alive.  Why, it might cost a couple hundred dollars in extra taxes ever year, to leave them a livable world.  Who is going to go for that?  Let them fend for themselves!  That couple hundred dollars is money in the bank right now, and really, who cares about our dgrandchildren?

Well, it just goes to prove my point:  all modern Conservatism is about is "cut my taxes."  The rest is just window dressing.

Rick Moran, PJ Media:  "Pop Singer Jennifer Holliday Shamed into Canceling Inaugural Performance"

Well, at least she has a sense of shame, unlike you, Rick.

PJ Media staff:  "Poor-Baby Obama Thinks Rush Limbaugh and Fox News Have Been 'Harmful'"

What a crazy idea.

PJ Media Staff:  "Canada's Prime Minister Made Fun of Donald Trump"

Oh, the poor little Donny.  His feelings must be really hurt.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "BREAKING: Far Left Group Is Paying Activists a Monthly Salary to Stop TRUMP"

The treachery!  No one on the right ever paid someone to work against Democrats, did they?

Larry Klayman, Renew America:  "The irony of all irony. As President Barack Hussein Obama prepares – hopefully – to leave office with the nation in near ruins thanks to his hateful and destructive tenure in the White House, the socialist Muslim In Chief's dog Sunny attacked and left scars on a family friend visiting the executive mansion."

God, the dog is in on the plot too!

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "Trump is America's Abe Lincoln, our emancipator."

Lloyd, I don't quite know how to break this to you, but Abe Lincoln is America's Abe Lincoln.  Think about it for a while.  Maybe you will figure it out, asshole.  Lloyd also has this to say, although what could top that?

"Pruitt heads EPA: more leftist slavery ended"

Clean air and water- slavery, SLAVERY, I tell you!!!!   And Lloyd is black.  How could any self respecting person allow themselves to be used like this?  Lloyd, do you think the people that pay you to write this kind of stuff have a shred of respect for you?  To them, you are no better than a farm animal, to be driven to do what they want, and then be sent to the glue factory, and that's just fine with you.  What a disgusting person you are.  But Lloyd isn't done humiliating himself kissing the asses of his masters:

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "Jeff Sessions, finally a reasonable adult heading the DOJ"

A racist.  Lloyd's idea of a reasonable adult.  Boy, I bet a lot of white racists are thrilled that they got a black man to say that.

Reverend Austin Myles, Renew America:  "Soros is the operator of the air hose that has crippled economies all over the world"

Believe me, I couldn't figure this one out.  An air hose that cripples economies.  What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Joan Swirsky, Renew America:  "Kerry exits as congenital liar and traitor to America"

Man, talk about projection.

Michael Barone, National Review:  "Is the intelligence community trying to undermine Trump? "

If they aren't, they are traitors too, Michael, just like Trump.

World Net Daily:  "Pinpointed: 'Locus of satanic power' in world today'

Oh, thank heaven.  We've been searching for years for the locus of Satanic power in the world.  And where is it?

"Bible teacher Joel Richardson, the New York Times bestselling author of “The Islamic Antichrist” and the host of the video teaching series “The Coming Battle for Jerusalem,” may have finally solved the mystery.

In his new book “Mystery Babylon: Unlocking the Bible’s Greatest Prophetic Mystery,” he makes his case for the identity of the city of evil.  It’s the city billions of people prostrate themselves before five times every single day – the Islamic city of Mecca."

What a surprise.  And here, I thought it was Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Or maybe Toluca Lake, California.  One of the two.  Want to know more? You can get the book from the World Net Daily bookstore, for a price, of course.  Bet that surprised you.

Ed Straker, American Thinker:  "Which of Michelle's Obama's Dresses was most Cringeworthy?"

Well what I want to know is if any of them were more cringeworthy than this dress that Melania Trump is wearing:

Oh wait, my bad.  She isn't wearing a dress at all, is she?  Sorry about that, Melania.  Didn't mean to insult your wardrobe.

And speaking of Melania:

Kaitlan Collins, Daily Caller:  "The Outfit Ivanka Trump Just Wore Out In Public Could Make Even A Fashion Critic's Jaw Drop"

She wore it out?  Come on, Ivanka, you're rich.  Donald can afford to buy you new clothes once in a while.  Actually, now that I think about it, maybe that explains the picture of Melania above.  Maybe Donald isn't so rich after all.

Katie Jerkovich, Daily Caller:  "PHOTOS: Mariah Carey Foregoes Top, Shows An Insane Amount Cleavage In London"

Well, they have to fill their websites with something, and I guess it won't be piss jokes.  And by the way, that really is the name of the author of this piece, Katie Jerkovich.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Jerkovich is the real last name of every writer ever selected to appear in Wingnut Wrapup.

Kevin Daley, Daily Caller:  "Comey Faces Uncertain Future In Trump White House"

What?  They've discovered that Heinrich Himmler is still alive?

Davenji, Red State:  "John Lewis Is a National Disgrace"

Right, guy.  We'll keep your opinion in mind.  Because giving black people equality was a nationl disgrace, I presume. Want to hear a little more?

"Let’s dispense with words here- Georgia Congressman and “civil rights icon” John Lewis is a national disgrace. Lewis did not cure cancer, he did not go to the moon, he didn’t even study a peanut. His claim to fame is that he walked across a bridge, got clunked on the head and the rest is, as they say, history."

Jesus' claim to fame is that he gave some speeches and then got hung on a cross.  Big fucking deal.  He was a loser.  If he had been a winner, he would have hung other guys on a cross.  And let us note that Jesus did not cure cancer either, although being God, he presumably could have if he just spared the time.  And as far as I know, Jesus never went to the moon, although given the lack of proof one way or the other, he may very well have studied a peanut.  So, maybe he is a hero.  As far as standing up and suffering for the oppressed, well, this is the Trump era.  Neither John Lewis nor Jesus deserve a damned bit of credit for that stupid behavior.

Jay Caruso, Red State:  "If Journalists Are Concerned About Donald Trump, A Person They Should Blame Is President Obama"

You can't even parody that.

Andrew Klavan, PJ Media:  "My Strange Trumpian Glee...He's doing great so far."

Selling the country out to the Russians, making a fool of himself, his party and the country every single day, appointing the worst, most corrupt cabinet in history, vowing to use his position to get revenge on his "enemies," i.e. anyone who disagrees with him, yeah, he's doing great.  What's not to like?

Hadley Arkes, The Federalist:  "Yes, Americans Could Live Without Government-Defined Health Insurance"

Yeah, but for how long?  This utter tool continues:

"The Distant Planet Where Americans Paid Their Bills...

Has it suddenly become unthinkable that ordinary Americans, doctors, or businessmen could summon the wit to find other ways of attending to their medical needs as they did in the past, when their world was not thickly woven with layers of insurance?"

On that distant planet, i.e. before Ronald Reagan took over, medical care was a necessity, provided by people who did it because people needed it, not to make tens of millions a year for an insurance company CEO.  Now, our health is a distant second to corporate profits, and that is why we need the government to smash the health care "industry" down and do away with the vampires who are feasting on our lives.  Get it now, Hadley?

Jeffrey Rodack, Newsmax:  "Newt: Trump Can't Become 'Reasonable' or He Will Have 'Failed'

No comment needed on that one, I guess.  I just want to point out that if that is Newt's main worry, he can relax and lay off the Prozac.

"Remember, most of the bureaucrats voted for Hillary Clinton. Most of the bureaucrats deeply dislike what Trump is trying to accomplish"

What, selling our country out to a foreign dictator?  Yeah, I'm guessing that most Americans deeply dislike what Trump is trying to accomplish.  Not you, though, Jeffrey.  Not you, and enough other brain dead, hate-filled racist assholes to put him in the White House.  To you, treason is just fine, if you are promised a tax cut, right?

Newsmax:  "Enter Your Name or Anyone's – Brace Yourself for Results"

What, ten thousand spam e-mails?

Newsmax:  "Doctors Shocked: Most Diseases Don't Need Drugs..SPECIAL: Find natural remedies and cures for 70 of the most common medical conditions"

And you can find out about this shocking development, just by sending in a bunch of money.  Isn't it funny that you never see things like this at Daily Kos, or Crooks and Liars?  They are supposed to be news sites, you know.  Why are they ignoring the important news?

Newsmax:  "Knights of Malta Insist Ouster over Condom Scandal Was Legal"

Boy, there's a breaking story I don't think I'll be following all that closely.

Dmitri Voltova, Prntly:  "SHOCK: Trump’s Inaugural just raised more money than Obama did in 2008, 2012 COMBINED"

Because that's what a Presidential inauguration is all about- making money.

Dmitri Voltova, Prntly:  "Vote: Should SNL be cancelled after they’ve been exposed as a Left Wing Propaganda?  Should the unfunny Saturday Night live be Cancelled after they’ve been exposed as left wing fake news propaganda and hate speech?"

Of course they should be cancelled, and all their reporters thrown in jail.  That's the way the free press works now in our country.  By the way, Dmitri, be my guest.  Cancel the "unfunny Saturday Night Live."  Just leave us with the funny as hell one, featuring Alec Baldwin.

Dmitri Voltova, Prntly:  "SHOCK: Orlando Terror-Wife arrested, liberals Panic because she’ll expose the REAL story about Pulse!"

Curiously, the article fails to provide a single instance of liberals panicking or doing anything else about this story.  Quel Surprise, huh?  By the way, that's three disgusting stories from this Dmitri Voltova.  I wonder what country he comes from?

And let's just end with this:

Before it's News:  "Stunning Events That Will Take Place Before Trump’s Inauguration...
In 1907, a book was published called “Lord of the World.” This book is about the a U.S. Senator named Julian Felsenburgh, who quickly ascends to become “President of the World.” Felsenburgh has unusual parallels with Obama including that they are both U.S. Senators, both charismatic speakers, and both have visited Paris for major conventions."

And they both ate a hot dog once, and they both have two feet.  Oh my God, it's all starting to make sense now.

"Now, Obama appears to be pulling the strings behind a push for peace among Israel and Palestine."

The bastard!

"The move to have a major convention about solving one of the world’s greatest land conflicts just five days before a president leaves office is unprecedented. Why Obama would decide to do such a thing is not known."

Oh, let's try to take a guess.  Maybe he wants peace, and as he is still President, he is doing what he can to bring that about?  No, that can't be it.  He must really be acting on commands from Satan.

"After (Felsenburgh) takes power, he orders Christians to be killed if they do not renounce their faith."

Man, killing all the Christians.  Didn't Obama leave things until pretty late to get going on that?

"We should be questioning if a 1907 prophecy is coming to life right now."

We should be questioning something buddy, but it all has to do with you and a nice trip to a psychiatrist.

Okay, enough already.  Bye until next time.  They're really on a bender these days, so it won't be long, I promise you.  Or was that a threat?

The Trump Presidency and How It Will Unfold

Well, we are now getting confirmation from a number of intelligence agencies that Donald Trump is indeed deeply compromised by the Russians.  When you add this to the blatant, grotesque corruption in the manner he is refusing to divest himself of his business interests, his picking a cabinet committed to violating his Constitutional duty to see the law is faithfully enforced, and his use of his visibility to engage in petty vendettas against anyone who criticises him, we now have a spectrum of absolute justifications for his impeachment, and he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

Well, what can we expect from Congress?  Well, first of all, let's get this out in the open.  Every person remaining in the Republican party is as big a crook as Trump is, so don't look to them to do a thing about this just because it is the right thing to do.

Here is how I think this is going to play out.  In all the attention devoted to the overwhelming likelihood that Vladimir Putin is blackmailing Trump, to get him to dismantle our intelligence capacity, destroy our participation in NATO, remove sanctions on Russia, and generally do anything he is told, to betray our country to this foreign dictator, what has not been noticed is that Trump has opened himself up to almost certain blackmail from another source, and that is the Republicans in Congress.

The truth is that the Republican majority can kick him out in the street any time it wants, on all sorts of grounds.  So Trump had damned well better figure out, and damned fast too, that the minute he moves into the White House he had damned well better to do exactly what Congressional Republicans tell him to do, and sign whatever bills the Republicans send to him, without one word of complaint, or else they are going to destroy him, and in a public manner that will make the humiliation of Richard Nixon look like a minor embarrassment.  This is their chance to finally enact their piggish, crooked agenda in all its horrible glory, and they are going to take it, and as fast as possible too, and he had better not get ideas that he is in charge of the agenda.

So the reality is that Trump's behavior has essentially made the executive branch of the government utterly powerless and subservient to Congress, for as long as he is President.  Now, how long will this go on?  Well, impotent as Trump may be, he will have one power left to him, and that is to precipitate an almost daily deluge of phenomenal humiliations on this country and on his party.  And you know that he would do that without any incitement, let alone what he will get up to in order to get back at Congress.

How long can this go on, before even Republican Congressmen can't take the disgrace any more?  I'm guessing four to six months.  At that point, I suspect, that even as corrupt as they are, Congressional Republicans won't be able to leave things as they stand, and we will be in for the final Trump circus- an impeachment in which he fights back with every dirty trick he ever learned (and he knows plenty,) and makes things as absolutely painful to the rest of the country as he can.  After that, we get Pence, or very possibly Congress will make him resign too, and we will be faced with the petrifying reality of a Paul Ryan Presidency.

So, when the big show comes, enjoy it while you can.  Once Paul Ryan takes over, you aren't going to have a thing to laugh about for a long time.

And Another Sad Day for Wingnuts

I've been waiting for the grand American Nazi march in Whitefish, Montana, which was scheduled this month, and which has been receiving tons of publicity on the right.  Sad to say, as my good friend Curt has now informed me, it is not to be:

"Neo-Nazis couldn’t raise the $125 needed for a permit for their Montana march...Neo-Nazis and white supremacists have been planning an on-again, off again march in Whitefish, Montana after the mother of well-known white supremacist Richard Spencer began complaining she was being harassed in Spencer’s hometown. Now, it seems, the march is off again after rally organizers were unable to afford the price of the permit to hold the event.

According to The Flathead Beacon, the City of Whitefish received the application for a march on Second Street from Memorial Park to City Hall. The fee for the permit is $125, but the application had only a $65 money order attached to it. Parades are also required to have a certificate of insurance, which the organizers also did not include."

Just another obstacle that the elite has placed in the way of people who are struggling with all their might to make America great again.  However, hope is not lost:

"Andrew Anglin, publisher of “The Daily Stormer,” announced to his readers that the city has refused to issue him a permit and he is speaking with lawyers and the ACLU."

He did not announce, in "The Daily Stormer" that the permit was refused because he could not come up with one hundred and twenty five fucking dollars for the parade permit.  As I have reported so many times over the years, this is just one more sign of what a ludicrous fantasy the hard right is in this country.  They have tried to start rebellions over and over again, many of them receiving massive publicity throughout the right wing media world, and they always end in this sort of humiliation.  Well, Andrew, I just thought I'd soothe your hurt feelings with a photo to remind you of what you thought was going to happen with your march:

Maybe next time, huh?  Is it too late to show up in Washington to be in Trump's parade, where you would be welcome?  And lucky you, the permit for that parade is already paid for.

I don't usually go fishing in the comments sections of blog posts, but this one caught my eye, and I want to include it, because it pretty much sums up what we are up against in this country:

"I want the President to act just as Mr Trump acts. He calls it as he sees it. He is the most brilliant man in the world and when he tweets he is king. He should be king of this country don't you think."

The most brilliant man in the world.  He should be king.  Man, there are a lot of people in this country that need to be euthanized before we can really get back on track.

And now, let's just move on with this reasoned suggestion:

John Hawkins, Town Hall:  "If You Listen to Liberals, Why Not Kidnap and Torture White People?"

Because that is just what liberals have always been for, right?  Kidnapping and torturing.  You know, as I seem to remember, torturing was sort of the going thing on the other end of the American political spectrum.  But, never mind.

Brian McNicholl, Town Hall:  "How to Make Sure Hospitals Are Ready for Obamacare Repeal"

Brian's idea?  Massive increases in money for Medicare.  The Republicans are really likely to do that, right?

Justin Holcomb, Town Hall:  "Officials Release Photos of Airport Shooter, Claimed to Be Fighting for ISIS in Nov. 2016"

This is typical of so many stories today on the right.  That's right- wingnuts are being told that this mentally ill guy from Puerto Rico was an ISIS fighter.  That's how Republicans win- they lie.

Christine Rousselle, Town Hall:  "Friday Fun: Team USA Singing The Anthem After Beating Canada For Gold"

Christine, if your idea of fun is hearing a bunch of people singing the national anthem, I feel really sorry for you.

Streiff, Red State:  "Obama Uses Russian Hacking To Back A Federal Power Grab...Citing increasingly sophisticated cyber bad actors and an election infrastructure that’s “vital to our national interests,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson is designating U.S. election systems critical infrastructure, a move that provides more federal help for state and local governments to keep their election systems safe from tampering."

Well, of course it is a "power grab" to try to prevent the Republican party from forming a treasonous alliance with a brutal foreign dictator to steal our elections.  I mean, that's obvious, right?  Better to do nothing and end up with a mentally unstable ignorant, racist bully in the White House.

Streiff, Red State:  "bullsh** on stilts."

In brief, that is Streiff's reaction to the intelligence report on Russian theft of the Presidency.  Really, Streiff deserves credit for stating outright what all other Republicans are going to claim too.

Liz Sheld, PJ Media:  "OSU Student Advocate for 'Concealed Carry' Shot Dead"

Where was the good guy with a gun?

Ron Radosh, PJ Media:  "Donald Trump's Inexplicable Attack on Our Intelligence Agencies"

Inexplicable?  What in the name of God is inexplicable about it?  The guy wants to shout down the people who know he traitorously collaborated with a foreign dictator to get into the White House.  Why is that inexplicable?

Avner Zaimi, PJ Media:  "This Week's Torah Portion: Yehuda Provides a Model Reconcilatory Prayer"

That should be exciting.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "WTH?… Intelligence Report that Claims Russia was Behind Trump Win Was Based on Intel from 2012 Russian TV"

No it wasn't.  How stupid do you think people are, Jim?  The report specifically said that it contained conclusions but not sources, because that would reveal our intelligence apparatus.

Ryan Saavedra, Gateway Pundit:  "Obama’s New Home Within Walking Distance of ISLAMIC CENTER"

Ooh, that's scary.  Maybe it has something to do with this story:

Christina Laila, Gateway Pundit:  "Update: Ft Lauderdale Shooter, Esteban Santiago Lived Within Walking Distance From Only Mosque in Alaska"

Things are all starting to fit together now, huh?  By the way, did you know that within two weeks, Donald Trump will be living within walking distance of the Russian embassy?

Washington Times:  "Sheriff wants to give inmates community service hours to build Trump's wall"

Great.  The only thing that could be better than building the wall would be building it with slave labor.

Byron York, Renew America:  "On Russia hacks, it's jump-to-conclusions vs. wait-and-see"

Wait for a hundred years or so.

Larry Klayman, World Net Daily:  "evil acts by Obama, coupled with the phony claim that Russia threw the presidential election to The Donald, all in an effort to destroy if not delegitimize the upcoming presidency, is part of a sleazy plan to take away our vote and steal the republic out from under We the People.

To this end, after Donald Trump is sworn in, Obama and his hateful and racist wife, Michelle, plan to stay in Washington, D.C...In sum, the leftist forces of evil are amassing to destroy our last chance to “Make America Great Again” and restore the vision of our Founding Fathers. Freedom Watch and you must not let this happen on our “watch.” To this end, we must quickly mobilize and unite to eradicate these evil forces of the left, using all legal means at our disposal."

Send Larry money.  Just thought I would cut to the chase here, and sum Larry's whole article up.

Jonathan F. Keiler, American Thinker:  "Obama's Phony War on ISIS...There is a lot to be suspicious about regarding the Obama administration's lofty claims regarding American-inflicted ISIS casualties"

See, ISIS is being destroyed with Obama's involvement, so the news must be fake.

David Byrne, American Thinker:  "The Real Reason Race Relations Have Deteriorated"

Marxism!  MARXISM!!!1!!!!1!  Yeah, that's the ticket.  It's not because a horribly high number of American white people have turned out to be race haters.  It's the Marxists!  You see:

"Marx explains the world by exploitation and oppression. Marx specifically argued that a “veiled civil war” exists within society between oppressors and oppressed."

And who would ever believe that?  I mean, the oppressed have no greater friends on this earth than "job creators" like the Koch brothers and the Waltons.  Amirite, or what?

James G. Wiles. American Thinker:  "The Left Means to Break This President"

A long article filled with the usual crap.  One thing James failed to mention was what the Republicans openly committed to doing to Barack Obama.

Larry Elder, World Net Daily:  'Living wage': As wrongheaded as the minimum wage"

Yeah, as wrongheaded as caring about poor people, sick people, refugees from terror, or anyone else that just might happen to have brown skin.  How could liberals be so sick?

World Net Daily:  "17 times more coverage on Obama's farewell than Bush's"

Really?  I wonder why that could be.  I mean, when George W. Bush left office, there was nothing the American people wanted more than to hear a speech from him about how the country should be run.

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "Jeff Sessions, finally a reasonable adult heading the DOJ"

This article is from Lloyd, a black man.  There is just no limit to the willing self-degradation of right wingers.  And a little more from Lloyd, who has been a busy monkey beaver today:

Lloyd Marcus, Renew America:  "Left's mission accomplished: blacks torturing whites"

Because, obviously, that is the Left's entire mission in life- to get blacks to torture whites.  And now it has actually happened once (in contrast to the over 2,000 totally justified white lynchings of black people, about which Lloyd has nothing to say) the left has accomplished its mission, and can go home and watch Trump make America white great again.

Larry Klayman, Renew America:  "The leftist criminals' attempted coup...since this election, we have also regrettably witnessed an unprecedented evil attempt at a coup d'etat by President Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton and other leftist sleazeballs like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to deprive our new commander in chief of his office. In this way, they hope to deny the will of We the People and prevent the nation from any chance of "Making America Great Again."

This comment from Larry, who actually organized at least two (miserably failed) attempts to mass right wingers at the White House to physically take over the building and drag Obama out and kill him (as reported on more than one occasion right here at Green Eagle.)  Not a shred of irony or shame.  But what do you expect?

David French, Renew America:  "Meryl Streep's speech is why the left wins "

The truth?  That's why the left wins? Well, glad to see it's still good for something.

Washington Times:  "Polar bear zoologist blasts Obama's climate alarmism: 'Sensationalized nonsense'

And here I didn't know that any polar bears were zoologists.

Walter Hudson, PJ Media:  "We Deserved Better Than Obama for Our First Black President"

Well, we deserved better than Donald Trump for probably our last President ever.

And that's that.  No piss jokes- aren't you proud of me?
