How Low Will They Go- Part Infinity

If you really want to know what to expect from the Republicans over the next week and a half, you might be interested in this story.  It is currently the number one post at Before It's News. an aggregator of far right videos which I follow for Wingnut Wrapup.  The video to which it is linked, which I did not watch, already has 125,000 views.

Yes, in their desperate attempt to smear Joe Biden, they have now gone from utterly false claims that he made a billion dollars from deals with the Chinese, which seem to interest nobody, to this- a claim that he engaged in "torture raping" Chinese children, which of course fits in perfectly with the bizarre lies spread by QAnon.

The Republicans have engaged in dirty smear tactics in every election for decades, but in all the time I have been following them, I have never seen anything as degraded as this.  And we now have a promise to vomit up more of this sort of thing every hour for the next 13 days.  God knows what they will be claiming by election day.

Update:  Today I learned from the Daily Mail, of all sources, that this "information" comes from an organization founded this year by Steve Bannon.  Surprised?

Update 2:  Alex Jones is now claiming that a diary kept by Joe Biden's daughter alleges years of sexual abuse.  Needless to say, not a single legitimate news organization will touch this contemptible smear, but this is how they intend to end their campaign.  We'll see how much more degraded the Trump campaign gets in the next week, but it is obviously not going to be pretty.  It is almost impossible for a public figure, particularly a political candidate, to sue anyone for slander or libel for anything they say about them; I understand the reason for this law, but obviously, there is something wrong when this sort of thing can go unpunished.  And note, it is always Republicans doing this.

There Just Is No Bottom

So today, on national television, Donald Trump demanded that the Attorney General of the United States immediately open an "investigation" into the latest Hunter Biden accusations, and complete the entire thing and announce his "findings" before election day.  And we know exactly what those findings had better be.

And let us remember the monstrous crime that Biden committed that was (allegedly) revealed on the hard drive of this laptop.  Hunter Biden was on the board of directors of a Ukrainian energy company.  Maybe he should have never been there, but we have known about that for a long time, and known that a Ukrainian investigation cleared both Hunter and Joe of any wrongdoing.  So what did we learn from this hard drive?  There is an e-mail on it from another member of the board of this company, thanking Hunter for introducing him to Joe.  That's it.  Not a single suggestion that anything improper in any way occurred, just that a businessman (that would be Hunter) introduced another high ranking employee of his business to his father.  Even presuming that this computer and its contents ever existed outside of the fabrication facilities of the Russian government or the fevered imagination of the now clearly insane Rudy Giuliani, there is not a hint of a crime there.

But it is enough for our cursing orange baboon to demand that Biden be charged with a crime, and deny that he has any right to run for President.

Well, that is really the sort of conduct that we expect from Trump.  But what I want to know is, why have impeachment charges not already been lodged against this would-be dictator for attempting to use the Justice system to destroy his opponent?  Why are all supposedly reputable news organizations not calling for his immediate removal from office?  Why are the Democrats not demanding appropriate action about this, with at least the fervor that Republicans showed when Obama wore a tan suit? Why are 42% of the American people apparently so evil themselves that they glory in this sort of behavior?  Who cares that an election is only two weeks away; is it too close to November 3rd for people to act decently?

This country is deeply off the tracks, and whether or not Trump is finally removed from office in the near future, I deeply fear that there is no righting things at this point.

Pushing the Smears

You've all heard about the latest Rudy Giuliani generated smear of Joe Biden- one of the most degraded and yet ludicrous attacks to come from a party that consistently runs on nothing else.  I don't need to deal with that here; its stupidity and blatant falsehood have been covered thoroughly many other places.  I had thought of doing a wingnut wrapup about the inevitable refusal of Conservatives to take "you are an idiot" for an answer, but really, it would make such boring reading.  So I decided to list the posts that are up about this story at one single website, Gateway Pundit, one of the highest traffic political sites in existence, which was graced by Trump with White House press certification.  I don't think there is any point in getting into how idiotic they are, so let me just note that there are 14 of them.

"DAY 2 BOMBSHELL: Newly Released Emails Show How Hunter Biden Worked to Cash in Big on China WITH MONEY HELD FOR HIS DAD, JOE BIDEN!"

You've all heard the claims about Joseph Goebbels saying that if you just repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it.  Well, apparently that's the tactic they are going with.  And it will undoubtedly work with their base, who still believe there was some horrible crime at the basis of Benghazi or Hillary's e-mails, and that Donald Trump really never did have anything to do with Putin.

The Deep State Wins Again

Another crushing blow to the forces of law and order, as just detailed by the Washington Post:

‘Unmasking’ probe commissioned by Barr quietly concludes without charges or any public report..."

No charges! Obviously this guy was gotten to by the Deep State, or maybe was a part of the Deep State itself.  Because who could doubt the guilt of anyone attacked by President Trump?

"The federal prosecutor appointed by Attorney General William P. Barr to review whether Obama-era officials improperly requested the identities of individuals whose names were redacted in intelligence documents has completed his work without finding any substantive wrongdoing, according to people familiar with the matter.

The revelation that U.S. Attorney John Bash, who left the department last week, had concluded his review without criminal charges or any public report will rankle President Trump at a moment when he is particularly upset at the Justice Department."

You bet it will "rankle" Trump, as the fabrication of crimes against his opponent was clearly a major component of his plan to win the election.  It will rankle him so much that the US attorney tasked with compiling these charges quit concurrently with turning in his report; he knew what fate awaits those who fail to comply with Trump's demands.

"Before Bash’s appointment, Kupec had said that a different federal prosecutor, John Durham in Connecticut, also had been looking at unmasking as part of his broader investigation into the FBI’s 2016 probe of whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the election. Barr recently told some Republican lawmakers that no report of Durham’s investigation would be released before the November election, though unlike Bash’s review, Durham’s work seems to be ongoing, people familiar with the matter said. Trump has in recent days called the delay in the Durham case “a disgrace,” and asserted that his 2016 Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, should be jailed."

Lock her up!  And Biden too!  Not charging people without evidence is a crime!  A standard electoral strategy in democratically run countries.

"He was previously critical of another prosecutor specially tapped by then-Attorney General Sessions to investigate matters related to Clinton, but whose case ended with no public report or allegations of wrongdoing."

WHAT?  There were THREE prosecutors (at least) tasked to dig up dirt on Obama, Biden and Hillary, and all three of them found nothing?  How could you need any more proof of the sinister reach of the evil opponents of Donald Trump, who will stop at nothing to destroy him, even going so far as to not break any laws in the process!!!

"Trump renewed his broader attacks on the investigation of possible coordination between Russia and his campaign, suggesting those involved should be jailed.  “I’m talking with 50-year sentences,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network."

Fifty year sentences for not breaking any laws.  That's justice, Trump style.  But it was all for naught! Trump's opponents won again!  They got off scot free for breaking no laws!  Let that be a lesson to you in the power of the Deep State.

Trump's Bout with Covid

Or rather, a comment on the Democratic response to it, which I think displays little understanding of just how serious a blow to Republicans this hospital stay was.

I want to make a great generalization here.  Of course it is not true about everyone, but I think in general, I am correct.  When liberals listen to political discourse, it is in an attempt to learn something.  Conservatives, on the other hand, don't care about learning; they listen to their thought-leaders to have their most vile emotions stoked and given the approval of authority.  This is why, incidentally, liberal talk radio has had such a troubled existence compared to conservatives on the air:  You can only hear the truth so many times before it becomes boring, while it never grows old for these people to have their hatred and greed, and above all, their sense of superiority to the rest of mankind, stoked.

And essential to this attitude, as it has always been essential to white supremacy, is the sense that they belong to something superior, a master race that by its own superiority deserves to reign over all others, a race of supermen, or dare I say, Ubermenschen.

These miserable people have made Donald Trump the living symbol of that superiority, imagining in him a genetically superior man, above the tribulations of the common horde.  He is Superman:

He is Rocky:

He is Rambo:

This obese, overage slob is the mighty warrior who will personally lead them to ultimate domination of all inferior races:

As obscenely absurd as this seems to the rest of us, this deification of their blessed leader is essential to their world view; but in the last couple of weeks, it has been shaken in a way that even they cannot ignore.  He has proven susceptible to the same weaknesses as ordinary mortals.  He is not an invincible demigod; he can be brought down by a virus which he mocked, sickened like any other person on earth.

It is impossible to exactly assess how great a blow to their world view Trump's illness has been, how much it has damaged their enthusiasm, but I guarantee it is there, and it should form the basis for continued Democratic portrayals of Trump as a weak, feckless character, helpless even to protect himself physically.  Arguments like this against Biden might not make much difference, because the truth is, we do not think the same way they do.  But these are potent weapons against Trump which we should not hesitate to use.

A Dog Whistle So Loud That It Could Deafen Anyone

Preparing for another hatefest.

Here's an incident that has receded so far into the past that it is almost forgotten.  When Ronald Reagan ran for President in 1980, his first major appearance after he was nominated was in Philadelphia, Mississippi, where he gave a speech strongly supporting "States' rights," which of course everybody knows is a euphemism for segregation.  Philadelphia Mississippi happened to be the location of the KKK murder of three civil rights workers sixteen years before, but of course Reagan denied any connection to that event.

Well, today, Donald Trump is reopening his campaign to be re-elected, at a rally in Sanford, Florida.  Some may remember Sanford as the site of the unpunished racist murder of Trayvon Martin. But Los Angeles Dodgers fans have another reason to remember Sanford.  In 1946, Sanford was the spring training home of the Montreal Royals, a Dodgers minor league team.  That year, Branch Rickey, the president of the Dodgers, who was determined to break Baseball's color barrier, drafted a young black player by the name of Jackie Robinson and sent him to the Royals.  In Robinson's first game, the local police chief showed up and ordered Robinson out of the game, with strong support from the local crowd.  Robinson had to comply, as the team feared a riot.  After this, the Royals left Sanford, and that was the end of Sanford's role in major league baseball.

Sanford is a notoriously racist city in one of the most racist States in the country.  Is there anyone who is so naive as to think that Trump's choice of Sanford to reopen his campaign was merely a coincidence, any more than Reagan's choice of Philadelphia, Mississippi was?

The Republican party has been racist for decades, and this is but the latest example of them proudly displaying that racism for the world to see.

In Other News From LA...

Trump Re-Emerges

After hiding away like a sick raccoon for several days, Donald Trump held a rally yesterday to celebrate his return to the campaign trail.  You would expect that the vaunted Trump campaign apparatus would have pulled out all the stops to make sure that this was a triumphant event, with a totally energized Trump speaking for his usual hour or two about any mean-spirited thing that popped into his head, in front of a crowd of tens of thousands.  That is what any rational person would have done, but he doesn't seem to have pulled it off.

The event, sponsored by a sickening astroturf group named Blexit, which purports to represent a vast number of black Americans who are abandoning the Democrats to support Trump, was held on the grounds of the White House, which one would think would be an inducement for many people to attend, as it is the only chance that most of them would ever have to be there.  And as an additional inducement, several news sources are reporting that a large number of the attendees were given travel and hotel expenses to get them to attend, in some sort of sick parody of the false accusations wingnuts always make about George Soros paying people to attend left wing demonstrations.

Well, even with all this, the organizers of this event only predicted a turnout of 2,000.  Here is what they got:

I put the number of attendees at about 400, which generally agrees with estimates from others I have seen (except the Trump campaign, of course, that probably is claiming that two million attended.)

And what were these hardy loyalists treated to?  Trump delivered a fairly listless 17 minute address, and then disappeared back into the White House.  Now admittedly, that is about four times as long as it took Abraham Lincoln to deliver the Gettysburg Address, but compared to Trump's normal Castro-like hour or two of lying bombast, that is an incredibly weak effort.

And let us note that, as far as I have seen, the mainstream press is carefully refraining from pointing out the truth about this pathetic spectacle.

Well, a short, tired address in front of an almost nonexistent audience for a President.  That was his return to the campaign trail.  Let's see where he goes from here.

Yes, It Really Exists

It's a real movie, in some respect, and it was just released in the last couple of days, and seems to be just about as good as you would expect.  Just about as much chance of winning an Oscar here as Trump had of getting the Nobel Peace Prize.  As in, those old duffers in the Academy have made some big mistakes over the years, but not that big.  The story seems to revolve around a clone of Donald Trump a thousand years in the future, because, I guess, at this point even his real fans know he can't even beat Joe Biden, let alone a galactic conspiracy of terror.

The Coming Surprise

Think that Donald Trump is so exhausted that he can't get up to one more monument to the destruction of democracy before election day?  Don't count on that- if there is one thing we know about him it is that he is always capable of sinking lower into the mire of his own degradation.

Do you really believe William Barr, who has proven to be as big a lying criminal bully as Trump, when he says that he doesn't plan on getting together with his toady John Durham to cook up one more blow to democracy the likes of which this country has never seen?

How cute of you.

Here is what the criminal Trump has had to say today:

"These people should be indicted—this was the greatest political crime in the history of our country. And that includes Obama and it includes Biden—these are people that spied on my campaign,"

"Barr's going to go down either as the greatest attorney general in the history of the country or he's gonna go down as a very sad situation," Trump said, claiming he has "all the information he needs."

And we have every reason to believe that whatever Trump orders, Barr is happy to deliver.

In fact, I believe that there is only one reason that the Barr Durham perversion of our legal system to attack Trump's enemies has not already erupted.  That is because Trump and Barr are waiting just another week or two to see just how far in the electoral muck Trump has descenced, before deciding what level of abominations they have to fabricate to bring Biden down.  Now, with Trump trailing in polls to a degree that will be hard to explain away, no matter how much electoral cheating the Republicans get up to (and of course, it will be everything they can think of,) Trump is openly talking of the arrest not just of Obama and Hillary, but of his electoral opponent, Biden, too.

Agar's Abomination. If you don't know, don't ask.  You have enough to worry about.

The sad thing is that, even at this point, that kind of behavior is, to most Americans, a characteristic of Hitler's Germany, Stalin's USSR, or any number of African dictatorships.  A large majority of Americans still cannot imagine such a thing happening here, and as a result, if it does happen, the effect may be a blow to democracy just great enough to carry through to election day.  After all, a small version of this strategy is what took place when Republican FBI head James Comey went public two weeks before the 2016 election with new insinuations of criminality against Hillary Clinton, which he knew perfectly well to be false; an act which was crucial in her electoral loss.  And Trump's need to win then was nothing like it is today, with him facing a likelihood of life in prison if he loses the election.

So I am fully prepared for what will be by far the greatest desecration of the American legal system in our entire history; the fabrication by the Attorney General of false charges up to and including treason against the Democratic Presidential candidate and his associates, and their very possible imprisonment for the last couple of weeks of the campaign.  Remember that nothing is beneath the Republicans if they think it is all they can do to retain power, and this could very well work, if carried out brazenly enough.  I still think this is the most likely end game of the worst Presidency in our history.

The Vices Duke It Out- Updated

So, I hope some people watched the Vice Presidential debate.  I've heard from the usual pundits, and as usual, I think they missed a lot of what was going on, so I will shoot my mouth off with my own opinion.

First, Kamala.  This was not the fiery prosecutor Kamala Harris who we have seen a number of times in Senate hearings now.  There were a number of times when I know (and I know she knows) that she could have ripped Pence a new one, but she held back.  Why was this?  I believe it is because the entire Biden-Harris team knows that they are running well ahead of Trump, and the worst thing she could have done during the debate would have been to give the Trump team anything they could twist into a subject for videos they could use to attack her.  People know that nothing the Vice Presidential candidate says is going to persuade a significant number of people to vote for Biden, but she could have done the opposite if she really got into trouble.  This is a case where not giving the enemy ammunition was the ultimate goal, and she somewhat restrained her normal temperament to achieve that goal.

Now, for Pence.  Well, of course he couldn't resist being a male dick, lying his ass off, interrupting Kamala and the female moderator, and insisting on talking longer than his time, but he did it so politely.  And here is why:  Pence had one real task in this debate, and that was, after what happened last week, to convince people that the current administration is sane.  That is a big task, all things considered, and I have to give Pence credit for largely achieving it.  Of course, Pence's effort is like reading a statement, while the guy next to you is screaming his head off, so it is likely too late for a Vice Presidential debate to really change things, but still, whether it works or not, he showed the restraint and strategic thinking necessary to carry out his task.

I mean, the guy is still an evil schmuck, but compared to Trump, he was Mother Theresa.

Update:  So here it is a day later, and it seems like nobody is getting any attention but the fly.  Poor Mike (just kidding)- all that effort to restrain himself and act half sane, and any chance that it had of improving Trump's chances was destroyed by an insect.  If I were a religious lunatic like Mike, I would be tempted to see the hand of God in this, but I'm not, so all I see is a narrative of administration competence so paper thin that it can't stand up to a visit from the invertebrate community.

Known as Downfall in English, this is a film depicting the final days of Adolf Hitler's life, as Germany collapsed around him. As far as I can tell, it is a quite accurate depiction of life in the Hitlerbunker, as well as quite a movie.

I am sure that there is hardly a person in existence that has not seen at least a couple of parodies of the scene from this film where Hitler dissolves into a shouting maniac, so most people are aware that it exists, but not that many have seen it.  In the film we see the combination of Hitler's descent into delusion combined with his intent to damage the German people in retribution for their having "failed" him.

This was an outstanding historical movie under any circumstances, but in the last couple of days it has taken on a frightening relevance to Americans.  If you have never seen this film, or even if you have not seen it in a long time, I urgently recommend that you watch it.  It is widely available online, in some cases for free.  The parallels between Hitler's decline and the way Trump is now acting are deeply disturbing.

In a spirit of full revelation, I worked on a movie directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, who was the director of Untergang.  I formed a pretty high impression of him.

He Succeeded

Well, Donald Trump's dog and pony show at Walter Reed Hospital has succeeded in pushing his disastrous debate performance, his criminal tax avoidance, his appointment of a religious fanatic to the Supreme Court, Republican efforts to destroy Obamacare, his further collapse in the polls, his siding with white supremacists and a dozen other abominations totally out of the news.  Or shall I say that he gave the mainstream media permission to go chasing this utterly ridiculous hoax on a 24 hour a day basis, and in the process ignore everything that the American people need to know about.

I know it must get sickeningly repetitive, but I have to say it again:  The mainstream media are not the dupes of the Republicans; they are their collaborators.  The media are owned by the hyper-rich, who use their property to promote their own interests, the same way the use their ownership of the Republican party.  And let me be clear; this is not true in the same way that rich people own practically all businesses in this country.  Until the Reagan administration, around 85% of the mainstream press was owned by individuals or small companies.  Then "deregulation," i.e. taking things that were crimes, and just making them legal, as long as the beneficiaries were rich people, took over, and here we are. The press in the United States always had a right wing slant, but it really took off thanks to Reagan, and here we are- one more institution vital to a thriving democracy destroyed to sate the greed of the rich.  And now, Trump's hateful dumb show becomes more important than the survival of the country.  God help us if the Republicans cheat their way into four more years of this abomination.

Wingnut Wrapup- Great Debate Edition

I said after the first Biden-Jackass debate that both people won- Biden in the real world and Trump in the disgusting fantasy land in which he and his supporters live.  Anyone who watched this event saw one of the most loathsome displays of egotism and viciousness ever seen on TV, and every one of us knows it. Here's a quote from Hanke Stuever at the Washington Post, that pretty well sums it up:

"95 minutes of proof that the nation has slipped into irredeemable darkness...Years from now, we’ll rank this disruptive non-debate alongside terrorist attacks for TV that made us despair."

And he wasn't talking about Joe Biden there, who acted like a perfectly normal human being, except for his restraint in not walking over and punching Trump in the face when he attacked Biden's dead son.

But of course, that is not how Trump supporters are going to be ordered to see it, and here are their orders.  You could probably guess exactly what sorts of lies are going to be told about what happened, so this may be rather boring, but it's just as well to make a record of it.

First, let's start with a Prediction from Kurt Schlichter at Town Hall about how the debate will go, written before it happened:

"I’m not going to believe Gropey J will actually debate Trump until someone pushes him out from backstage toward the podium. But if it happens, by the time you read this, the debate will be over, yet there’s no need for me to wait to write this post-mortem. According to the media, Biden won and Trump lost.

Well, that's for fucking sure, Kurt.

It doesn’t matter if a radio earpiece fell out of his head, if he started rapping his cover of “WAP,” or if he had to do the Nadler shuffle offstage, Grandpa Badfinger won.

None of which happened, of course.  Trump, on the other hand, lost his cool about a hundred times, and behaved worse than a three year old.

His rehearsed one-liners, honed during dozens of post-lid training sessions, may fall flatter than Mazie Hirono’s brain waves yet they will nominate Joe for a seat at the Algonquin Roundtable. He can literally talk about tying an onion to his belt, which was the style back in the day, and they’ll applaud. He can drool, make body noises, or address Chris Wallace “Hey, fat!” and the media will flap its flippers.

Is that what you saw?  By the way, in case you wondered, Kurt did not have one word to say about how Donald Trump would behave.  Now on to Kurt's review of the debate:

Kurt Schlichter, Town Hall:  "It was a bit surprising that Grandpa Badfinger showed up Tuesday, and also a bit surprising that he didn’t start a chat with an invisible friend or Nadler himself on stage. Nor was it surprising that Donald Trump came in hard and fast...Who won? Trump.  This was not a “disaster” or “a mess” simply because it got loud and unruly."

Loud and unruly.  Just what Americans want from their President.

"With one possible caveat, it was not likely to move the needle. And this was peak Biden – he gets no better than this. He did a dozen early am lids prepping to basically achieve not falling over and mumbling to himself as he jerked and twitched on the floor."

That sort of kindergarten insult is what passes for humor from Conservatives.   In fact, I am not sure I have ever seen any Conservative "humor" that didn't amount to infantile taunts of their enemies.

So, even though there was not one sign of the demented Joe Biden that Trump has been shouting about for months now, Kurt is going to tell his readers that there was.  And here is one of the main themes of the night; Believe me, not your lying eyes.  You actually saw the drooling, mentally deficient Biden we have been talking about for months, so shut up and get in line

"Now, the prissycons are all up in arms because Trump was mean and interrupted people. Boo hoo – tighten the hell up, people. Why would you be smiley while getting tagged-teamed by a media hack and Methuselah?"

Now, a second theme: that a Fox News announcer conspired with Biden to make Trump look like an ignorant bully, rather than Trump having done that all on his own.

"There are lots of potential voters, including ones who usually do not vote, who will respond well to a show of raw strength...Real men, and real women, don’t vote for submissives."

And another major Republican theme.  Real Americans truly want a vicious, vindictive, out of control liar, so there are tons of them out there who are going to vote for him regardless of his unfitness.

Well, let's get down to some of the malicious and yet pathetic attempts by Republicans to rewrite the history of this event.  I've tried to categorize them, but many of the items could be listed in more than one category.  Well, at least I've spared you having to read them twice; it's bad enough as it is.

Believe Me, Not You Lying Eyes

Before it's News:  "POTUS Crushes the Enemy"

Yeah, right.

Grant Stinchfield, Newsmax:  "Charlottesville has been debunked"

What, the whole city doesn't exist?  Oh, Grant meant that Trump didn't really say what he was recorded saying about Nazis being good people.  Okay, then.

Kirstinn Taylor, Gateway Pundit:  "Trump Addresses Proud Boys Controversy; Calls on Biden to Condemn Antifa"

Actually, he didn't address the proud boys controversy, he just used it as an opportunity to attack Biden with more lying claims.

Brooke Singman, Fox News:  "Trump campaign, RNC declare Trump the winner of first presidential debate..."The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee declared President Trump the winner of the first presidential debate against Joe Biden Tuesday night, slamming the former vice president as “too weak” and touting Trump as a “strong president on top of his game.

Oh they did, did they?  Well, I guess that settles that then.  I mean, the Trump campaign and the RNC wouldn't stretch the truth, now.

“President Trump just turned in the greatest debate performance in presidential history, displaying a command of the facts and control of the conversation,” Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a statement Tuesday night.”

Oh, he did, did he?  Well, I guess that settles that then.

Freedom Works:  "Lost and confused man stumbles onto debate stage"

Hint: They weren't talking about Trump.  Go figure.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "They Have a Guy Who Doesn’t Know Where He Is – That’s Why They’re Freaked Out” – Former Trump Campaign Manager Steve Bannon Weighs in on Biden’s Disastrous Night...Biden two or three sentences into things forgets where he is. If you gotta let him go, next time I’d advice the president to be very strategic about where he cuts him off or where he inserts the comments. And the reason is Biden doesn’t know where he is… embrace this Democrats. You’ve traumatized your base so they don’t want to go and vote… They have a guy who doesn’t know where he is all the time. And that’s why they’re freaked out."

They just go on and on saying this, even though there is not a sign that it is true.

Tyler O'Neil, PJ Media:  "Debate Recap: Trump Wins, Biden Doesn't Faint...Trump got in more clear statements and Biden came across as shifty"

Biden Cheated During the Debate-Part One: He Collaborated with Mike Wallace to Sandbag Trump

Before it's News:  "Evil, Cheating Exposed During Debate!   "It was a two against one performance against Trump"

Biden ganging up with a Fox news announcer.  Yeah, that's likely.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "Frank Luntz's Surprising Discovery with Post-debate Focus Group of Undecided Voters...There was a lot of mudslinging, name-calling..."

No word about who was doing the mudslinging.

"...and moderator-turned-debater Chris Wallace did not help matters at all, whether he was shutting down Trump, coming to Biden's rescue, or peddling lies about critical race theory and Trump's Charlottesville comments."

More ganging up there.

John Nolte, Breitbart:  "Joe Biden and Chris Wallace Started It by Interrupting Trump Numerous Times First"

The last time I heard that argument it was from a three year old:  "No, mama, he hit me first!"

Right wing view of the debate, cartoon style

Biden Cheated During the Debate-Part Two: He took drugs or used a Wire or Something

Derek Hunter, Town Hall:  "I have to note Joe Biden’s eyes. Am I the only person who noticed his eyes were dilated during the entire debate?  In the debate, he looked vacant, more vacant than usual. Not a lost vacant, a “not there” vacant. Check out clips and look at his eyes, they remind me of the Quint speech from Jaws about a shark’s eyes, “lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes.” That was Joe Biden’s eyes, at least to me, during the debate.

I’m not suggesting he was on mind-focusing drugs, but I am curious that one of the side effects of Adderall is dilated pupils...Ultimately, Joe’s performance was…missing, he was just there. A physical body on the stage that didn’t answer questions or offer policies, simply parroted talking points and hurled childish insults."

Drugs or demons...We ask, you decide.

And here is the evidence of a wire:

The left picture has been widely publicized by Republicans as some sort of wireless receiver.  It is actually his dead son Beau's rosary, which Joe wears around his wrist.  The other picture, obviously a fold in Biden's shirt, is alleged to be a wire connecting the rosary receiver to an invisible earpiece.

Trump's Debate Performance Was Another Example of Him Playing Fifty Seven Dimensional Chess

Instead, Biden beat the hell out of Trump on national TV.

Tauren Dyson, Newsmax:  "David Bossie to Newsmax TV: Trump Showed More Intensity Than Biden"

Yeah, more intensity.  More rabid lunacy, I think you mean, Tauren.  Here's someone else who showed more intensity than Biden when he spoke, just for reference.

Andrea Widberg, American Thinker:  "The Trump debate decoded: He won, and he won big...With 24 hours having passed since the first presidential debate, it’s becoming clear that Trump won in a big way. It wasn’t an apparent victory, but it was a real one"

Forget what you saw, and believe what we tell you.  By the way, we do not need to tell you why we are claiming Trump won.  You have your orders, now get to work.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "This debate has actually convinced some undecided voters to not vote at all...So maybe a method to the madness here. Trump's strategy of mud wrestling with Biden made Joe also look unattractive to any undecideds left. Luntz group said many undecideds wouldn't vote at all. That makes turning your base what will decide this election. Big advantage to Trump."

Apparently Frank Luntz, a right wing operative who has spent a half century manipulating "focus groups" into saying what he wants them to, can't find a thing that made anyone want to vote for Trump,  so he is taking some kind of satisfaction in the fact that, after four years of the Trump horror show, this ninety minute debate didn't convince any new people that they have had enough of him.  Advantage Trump!

Democrats Know Trump Won

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "They Know Who Won: Thoroughly Defeated Democrats Urge Joe Biden to Cancel Future Debates"

Because the Democrats know they lost, not because they do not want to waste further time giving TV exposure to a psychotic bully.  Right.

"Trump also managed to expose what a nasty jerk Biden is. That matters. With Trump, we’re used to it. From Biden, who poses as “Mr. Nice Everyman,” it’s jarring and ugly."

How can you even comment on such a bald faced lie? Or the notion that it's fine for Trump to act like an infantile bastard, but not for Biden show even mild anger at, for example, having his dead son mocked.

Andrea Widberg, American Thinker:  "At a rough estimate, Americans are 40% for Trump, 40% for Biden, and 20% up for grabs. Most candidates try to get half of their supporters to the polls and hope for 51% of the independent votes."

At a rough estimate in the real world, Americans are 40% for Trump (for a reason we will never really understand) and 50% for Biden.  Subtract the few idiots who are going to vote for the Green Party or the Libertarians, you really have only about 5% up for grabs, and that is being generous.  After four years of his Presidency, when a guy has to make up ten percent of the electorate in the last month, things do not really look too good for him, regardless of the fantasies of people like Andrea.  Of course, there is still the cheating, what is really what she is counting on.  Like every other Republican she knows she can't win a fair election.  That's why they spend more time rigging things than they do really campaigning.

Let's Just Straight Out Lie

Tyler O'Neil, PJ Media:  "Note to AOC, Liz Warren, Kamala: Trump Is NOT a White Supremacist"

He's just the nicest, kindest person on earth.  And the smartest, too.  Did you know that?  Well, since that other guy whose picture I showed above died.  I heard someone refer to people like him as truly find people, you know.

Bryan Joondeph, American Thinker:  "Trump accomplished what he needed in the first debate...Trump’s goal was to shore up his base, to make sure they vote. Previous milquetoast candidates like John McCain and Mitt Romney failed to rally the GOP base and both lost potentially winnable elections. Trump will not make that mistake."

Not shoring up his base.  A mistake he won't make, if his base consists of a pack of half starved, slavering animals, which it seems to.

"Biden needed much prep for this debate. For Trump it was just another day, whether at a debate, a Trump rally or a press conference facing a hostile media. Trump could repeat this performance every day, Biden cannot."

True.  Trump could repeat this performance every day, because that is who he is, like a three year old throwing a tantrum.  No practice needed.  Biden could not do that even once, because he is not a sick monster of a human being.

"Why would he change a winning formula? Trump is a businessman and knows well what happens to businesses who stray from their core mission."

What, they lose all their money and go bankrupt?  Trump sure has a reason to know that lesson, having squandered two fortunes that were given to him and gone bankrupt six times, but I don't think that is what Bryan is referring to.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "Fact Check the Left: Did Trump Refuse To Denounce White Supremacists in First Presidential Debate?  We’re back to this crap again."

It was Joe Biden that was Really the Evil One, or Let's Project Trump's Faults on the Other Guy.

Before It's News:  "Joe Biden is posessed by legions of demons"

This has something to do with the look in Biden's eyes.  Whatever.  Another story said that Biden's eyes looked funny because he was wearing contact lens versions of Google Glass, something which does not exist, through which his handlers are feeding him answers.

Doris O'Brien, American Thinker:  "Debate 2020: Joe Biden was disgusting"

If being a calm, sensible person is disgusting, which it apparently is to a lot of wingnuts.

"As for temperament and body language, Joe seemed glassy-eyed with concentration."

He was concentrating on the subject matter being discussed.  That is a major flaw in a President compared to just acting like an ignorant jackass.  You want to see Trump looking glassy eyed, look at him right after he has snorted some Adderall.

"(Biden) looked pale next to his ruddy challenger."

This is actually my favorite right wing take from the whole event.  Biden looked pale compared to Trump.  Of course we all know that Trump doesn't look pale because he has smeared himself with a half inch of orange makeup, but I guess that just proves how much more manly he is than Biden.

Trump's ruddy complexion.  Can anyone be so stupid?

John Carney, Breitbart:  "Biden Spent the First Debate Flooding America with a Torrent of Lies...Biden lies unnecessarily, habitually, and without hesitation. When caught lying, he responds with nasty personal attacks.  Even more galling, Biden lies about things that he shouldn’t because they are easily checkable. There are publicly available facts that refute his data."

Talk about projection.

Andrea Widberg, American Thinker:  "Trump also managed to expose what a nasty jerk Biden is. That matters. With Trump, we’re used to it. From Biden, who poses as “Mr. Nice Everyman,” it’s jarring and ugly  "Trump gave his base red meat. Even those who disliked his style will vote for him. Meanwhile, Biden left his base with a sour taste in their mouths, knowing they’re being used."

It's okay when Trump is a vicious bully.  It's exactly what the would-be vicious bullies that make up his base want.  If we just accuse poor Joe Biden of the same thing, people will forget about Trump's behavior every day.

Well, enough.  Far more than enough.  And as usual, I need to point out that this is just a small sample of what is out there, and many of the websites quoted above get hundreds of thousands of hits every day.  I give the final comment, about Chris Wallace, to Charlie Pierce:

"Absent the ability to get up, walk over to the president*'s podium, and beat his microphone to smithereens with a hammer, Wallace did pretty much as well as could be expected as the concierge of Bedlam."

What a miserable job the Republicans have done of preserving our country.

Okay, okay, one more Republican cartoon:

Because it's Biden, not Trump, whose followers don't expect him to be able to follow normal human behavior.

Orange Jerk Claims He's Sick

So the fat bully claims he has Covid now.  Of course, anyone who remembers the 20,000 lies he has told since becoming President, or the way he lies reflexively, whether it helps him or not, wouldn't believe a word he says without absolute proof; and nobody with any sense, would believe the word of his doctors either, as they have constantly told lies about his supposedly superb physical condition.  So we'll wait and see, but I can imagine several possibilities here.

First, of course, is the chance that he actually is sick.  This would hardly be surprising, since he has constantly flaunted the advice of infectious disease experts, and exposed himself over and over again to getting the virus.  Still, as I said above, I will not believe this in any way unless it is vouched for by someone I trust, which is not anyone previously involved with him.

A second possibility is that, no matter what he says in public, somehow this delusional orange mango realizes that he made a total ass of himself at the debate a few days ago, and this is his strategy for chickening out of future debates, which is now pretty well assured.

Here's a third possible explanation for all of this, which is in my mind the most disturbing of all:  Trump has figured out that his chance of winning re-election has just about vanished in the dust raised up by his jackass behavior.  A good act of being sick would allow him to drop out of the Presidential race this year.  He would then spend the next four years constantly appearing on right wing media, creating his usual malicious diversions, and doing everything he can do to destroy Biden's Presidency, after which he will run again in 2024, probably with his love interest Ivanka as his vice Presidential candidate, and with a well planned out scheme to turn that election into a circus the likes of which we have never seen.  Four more years of having to constantly put up with Trump's malicious interference, followed by an even worse electoral season than this time around; that's a frightening proposition, huh?

And here is a fourth possibility:  This "illness" was propagated not by Trump himself, but by the Republican party and Mitch McConnell, who see Trump leading them to defeat not only in the Presidential race, but in the Senate too.  So, they have made him an offer he can't refuse: take this chance to claim that it was illness that forced his hand, or be humiliated in front of the whole country by his own party, desperate as they are to not have him lead them to colossal failure.  And they know that his malignant ego couldn't take that.  They can then go on with their emergency replacement- Mike Pence, or, God knows, Ted Cruz or Newt Gingrich, or some guy off the street, who they might be able to ride to victory on a wave of public sympathy.

Well, these are what I think might be going on.  Any other guesses?
