John McCain. Plenty of money that he got through dumping his first wife and marrying a rich beer heiress, so he can pay anything for his own medical care, but he does not give a God damn about the health of anyone else. The "maverick" has spent a decade now talking a good game and then voting along with the most corrupt people in the country on every issue, so we have no reason to believe that he would not get up off his sickbed for nothing but to stick a dagger in the backs of tens of millions of his fellow Americans.  And here he is again, betraying the American people, even though at this point in his life it cannot mean a damned thing to him.  In case you haven't seen this ad, please take a moment to look at it.  It is a Republican political spot attacking Janice Hahn, an absolutely decent L.A. politician who is running for an open Congressional seat.  You should really see it. I have mentioned  my expectation that the Republicans, enabled by the corrupt right wing justices on the Supreme Court, are about to launch the most nauseating electoral campaign any of us have ever seen.  Well, here's an early view of what to expect in the next year and a half.

Chip Pickering claims in a lawsuit that the Mississippi Republican had an affair that ruined their marriage and derailed his political career." The jokes write themselves, but we've heard them so many times lately that I won't bother to repeat them.

I don't know why, but I've felt an outbreak from Holy Joe Lieberman coming on for days. He just hasn't had a good opportunity to practice his unique brand of malicious double-crossing for so long. Well, here's an interesting story: Holy Joe, running in the Democratic party primary in 2006: "I can do more for you and your families to... get universal health insurance." And running in the 2006 general election, on the "it's all about me" ticket: "I have long supported the goal of universal health care," Lieberman told reporters. "Ned Lamont can talk about it. I've been doing something about it all the time I've been here." Lieberman today, now that the subject is real: "If we create a public option, the public is going to end up paying for it," Lieberman said following an hour-long confab with public-health experts at the Ashmun Street community center of the Monterey Homes public housing complex.
