Covfefe- The Truth Revealed

Of course it takes Green Eagle to explain this to the whole world.  The word is not "covfefe," but "covpepe."
It is a contraction of "covert pepe."  Trump is ordering his millions of jackbooted militia members, such as these battle hardened veterans:
to remain under cover, because the time has not quite come to take direct action:

That will be coming soon, don't you worry.

God We're Fucked

From the Washington Post today, this tidbit:

"...there are signs that the president may not be retaining all the intelligence he is presented, fully absorbing its nuance, or respecting the sensitivities of the information and how it was gathered."

He is mentally deficient, or senile, or just a person whose wealth protects him from the consequences of being monumentally stupid.  And he is a vicious, hate filled bully.

And never forget that the Republicans who control Congress are going to do whatever they have to in order to keep him right where he is so he can put his name to the most piggish pack of legislation since Nazi Germany.

Like I said, we're fucked.

I haven't been posting much lately, because in the face of the fact that the entire government has been taken over by willing fascist tools, what good does it do to point out the latest examples of their evil?  They know what they are doing, we know what we are doing; the only people that don't know aew the sixty million strong army of hate filled, ignorant racists that voted to put them in office, and they are unreachable by any appeal to truth or decency, two values which they have long ago completely shed.

Here's another headline from the Washington Post today, and another exercise in willful blindness:

"Germans wonder why Trump keeps lashing out at them and not Russia or Saudi Arabia"

Is that true?  Do Germans wonder about that?  Can Germans not see that Trump has been directed by Putin to destroy our alliances with our democratic allies, and enhance our ties with dictatorships, most notably his own?  Can Germans not see that Trump's goal is not to strengthen the United States, but to weaken it?

My own guess is that the only people in the world too stupid to see that are right here in America.  Everyone else gets it, so, Washington Post, you might as well stop telling lies for the home team.  It's not worth the effort.  They have already signed on for the duration.

A Vietnam Reminder

Due to a showing of Ken Burns' documentary of the Vietnam war, and a couple of news items, Vietnam seems to be having a bit of a resurgence in the news lately.  As the people of the United States have never come to accept the truth about our nation's involvement in Vietnam, I feel called upon to remind them of a couple of facts about that war, or in reality to tell them for the first time, as the American press and government have so thoroughly erased what I am about to say from our memory that not one person in a thousand knows this.

First, I want to quote a little recognized section of the Constitution, from Article VI, section 2:

"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land"

That is to say, treaties entered into by the United States government have equal legal standing to the Constitution.

Now, I want to turn to one of those treaties, the Final Declaration of the Geneva Conference on the Problem of Restoring Peace in Indo-China, entered into on July 21, 1954, the full text of which (if you are interested) can be found here.

Here are the sections I want to particularly point out today:

"4. The Conference takes note of the clauses in the agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Viet-Nam prohibiting the introduction into Viet-Nam of foreign troops and military personnel as well as of all kinds of arms and munitions.

5. The Conference takes note of the clauses in the agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Viet-Nam to the effect that no military base under the control of a foreign State may be established in the regrouping zones of the two parties, the latter having the obligation to see that the zones allotted to them shall not constitute part of any military alliance and shall not be utilized for the resumption of hostilities or in the service of an aggressive policy.

6. The Conference recognizes that...the military demarcation line is provisional and should not in any way be interpreted as constituting a political or territorial boundary."

In other words, the entire notion that the area of today's Vietnam was then made up of two hostile countries, South Vietnam and North Vietnam, was a lie- a piece of propaganda directed at the populace of the United States to very successfully make them believe that the United States was coming to the defense of one country against another one.  In fact there was, as we accepted in this treaty, only one country of Vietnam; our supposed ally, South Vietnam, never had any existence aside from U.S. fantasies.  Further, once one realizes this, one can see that every single soldier, every gun, every fighter plane that the United States introduced into Vietnam, every military base we established, was a war crime, in violation of our sworn commitment; while the military activities of the other side- the NLF, the Viet Cong, call it what you will, were the actions of a true national liberation movement, which did not violate this treaty.

To be blunt, the US action against Vietnam was nothing but an open and blatant war of aggression, violating both international law and, in line with what I quoted above, the United States Constitution. What's more, it was a war of aggression in which between two and four million civilians were murdered by our troops.

We have endless screams from the right that every Muslim in the world needs to take personal responsibility for every act of violence committed by any other Muslim.  We, on the other hand, need take no responsibility whatsoever for the most abominable acts of our own government, preferring instead to see to it that we just remain ignorant of what was done in our name- the millions slaughtered in Vietnam, the million or so slaughtered in Iraq in an act of criminal aggression that was equally a blatant war crime, our endless interference in Latin America over the last century, which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, and on and on.  This is why people around the world hate us, not our "freedom," something which a large part of our populace is enthusiastically giving away anyway.  And there isn't a chance in hell that the malignant cohort of voters the Republican party has created, which can't even see the open treason of their chosen President, will ever acknowledge that.

And that is why history repeats itself- because so may evil, depraved people want it to.

Your Mainstream Press

They just won't give up normalizing the monstrosities we are forced to swallow from the Republican party.  Case in point today, the headline article in the Los Angeles Times:

"Trump trip drives home America's new course...President's embrace of autocrats and criticism of allies set him apart from his predecessor"

How about this for a change?  "President's embrace of autocrats and criticism of allies set him apart from every decent human being on earth."

Thus, humanity and degradation become but two equal choices.  Democratic leaders?  Dictators?  Hey, it's just a matter of picking a "new course."  Because it's all the same, you see.

And until the mainstream press refers to Republicans as the hideous criminals they are, don't even start talking to me about the liberal press, or even the halfway between press.  When you serve to cover evil, you are evil too, and when you provide cover for the endless evil behavior of Republicans, you are not their dupes, but their collaborators.

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

So, it has come to this:

"President Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials.

Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election."

And the Republicans go on and on, screaming endlessly that there is no evidence to tie Donald Trump to any crime.

It does not take a long post to describe this behavior.  It is witness tampering, obstruction of justice and subornation of perjury, coming directly from the "president" of the United States.  It is also obviously consciousness of guilt, writ large across the sky in Washington.

Donald Trump is a common criminal and a thug, who knows he has done immense evil, and who is now willing to commit any crime to cover it up.  There can no longer be any doubt about that.

I've heard a lot of talk lately about the danger of replacing Trump with Mike Pence or Paul Ryan, who will be just as malignant as Trump but in a much less flamboyant manner that will be harder to fight.  That is true, but sorry, there is a point where Trump's criminality is so great, and so unapologetic, that we will be forever damaging the country if we don't deal with it.  He must go.  The damage of a Pence or Ryan Presidency must be left to be dealt with later, while we take care of the present danger.

Black Is White

And up is down, true is false, bad is good.

A Saudi Prince had this to say about Donald Trump:

I read in the Los Angeles Times this weekend that the Saudis not only called Trump a strong President, but they contrasted him to Obama, who they called a weak President.

See, it is strong to buckle under to the demands of one of the worst dictatorships on earth, and agree to provided them with $110 billion dollars of advanced weapons to carry on their terrorist religious wars, but it is weak to refuse to finance their hatred, and instead to try to make peace with that dictatorship's rivals.  Here is a particularly ironic statement of the current principles governing U.S.-Saudi affairs:

"Concerning terrorism in the region, both parties agreed that recruitment campaigns carried out by some terrorist groups in Saudi Arabia against Saudi citizens are launched to legitimize these groups."

"Some terrorist groups."  No mention of the fact that the Saudis virtually invented modern Islamic terrorism, through their monstrous so-called religion of Wahabism, which has been financing violence since the nineteenth century.  No mention of the fact that the Saudis are overwhelmingly the major financiers of Islamic hatred and violence in the world.  And as for the  racist anti-Muslim crusade Trump has led the last couple of years?

"Relations had undergone a period of difference of opinion. However, today’s meeting has put things on the right track...Saudi Arabia does not believe that this measure is targeting Muslim countries or the religion of Islam."

The right track. War is peace.  Lies are truth.  Anything that makes more money for the richest people on earth is a noble enterprise.  And there you wonder the Saudis are thrilled to have a Republican President once again.

And a little more:

At least this bit of sanity, from The Week:

"Trump's groveling speech in Saudi Arabia was a national embarrassment"

Groveling is strength!  Not groveling is weakness!

"The trouble with the speech is not that it was demented, like most of what passes by President Trump's lips, but that it is a reminder of what is waiting should the Republicans still be in charge of the country for any extended period of time in the post-Trump era: the policy baseline, the tone, and the analysis of the region's predicament were all boilerplate Republican inanity, grounded in a monomaniacal obsession with terrorism as the cause of all strife on Earth and bizarrely fixated on Iran as the wellspring of instability and violence."

Well, at least for the moment, people are allowed to utter the truth out loud in this country, not that anyone is allowed to hear them.  How long that will be okay, who knows?

Trump Bows To Saudi King

Do you remember the last eight years of right wing smear merchants screaming about Obama bowing to the Saudi King, because the much taller Obama leaned over to shake hands with him?  Well, I hope to hell that we see this picture every day until Trump is dead:

Well, what do you expect?  Give him something made out of gold, and he'd crawl across the room on his belly to get his hands on it.

Friday, May 19, 2017

Here are the headlines of all the "above the fold" stories at the Washington Post on Friday afternoon:

"White House adviser close to Trump is a person of interest in Russia probe...Investigation into Russian meddling reaches highest level of government"

"In 119 days, President Trump has made 586 false and misleading claims. We tracked them all."

"Trump’s media firewall is collapsing as the Russia probe gets closer...Recapping a stunningly bad two weeks for the White House"

"Trump, who demonized Muslims on the campaign trail, plans to preach tolerance in a speech in Saudi Arabia...Trump plans to do a rhetorical pirouette with a speech Sunday in the birthplace of Islam..."

Now, here is the one thing the Republican party seems never to have thought of, as they were spending decades training American voters to regard politics as just another reality show, and to make their decisions based on whatever seemed like it might be the most fun at the moment- stupidest duck call makers, fattest people alive, people who have filled their homes with garbage, and now the worst imitation of a President in recorded history.

Nothing makes for such electrifying entertainment as a clash of titans.  To this current Game of Thrones voting populace, nothing could be better than a drawn out war to the death, particularly since they will assume that whoever the Republicans dig up to replace Trump will depart from him on virtually no issue of policy, and so the whole thing won't affect us much more than whoever wins America's Top Model.

Nixon deprived the country of the ultmate spectacle by quitting; Clinton deprived us of it (despicable Democrat) by being innocent, and they couldn't even gin up a lynching of the black guy, though they sure tried.  But at last, they have a chump that they can let dangle in the wind, and then hatchet without remorse, because, really, don't we all know that nobody ever deserved it more than this born-rich, self-entitled hate filled bully?

And there seems to be a pretty good chance that Trump is going to get what he always wanted- to be the star of the greatest reality show in the history of the world.  Whoopee!

People Who Never Saw a Mob Movie in Their Lives

So, we learn that Michael Flynn is still in contact with Trump:

"Saddled with steep legal bills, Flynn wanted to reconnect with old friends and talk about potential future business opportunities. But one overriding question among those present were his views on the president who had fired him from his national security advisor post.

Flynn left little doubt about the answer.  Not only did he remain loyal to President Trump; he indicated that he and the president were still in communication. “I just got a message from the president to stay strong,” Flynn said after the meal was over..."

The universal interpretation of this fact is that the President and Flynn are just such good buddies that Trump interrupted his endless obsession with himself to call Flynn and comfort him.

How can people be so willfully stupid?  Well, okay, we are talking about the mainstream press here, but as I said, didn't they ever see a movie about the Mafia?  It is crystal clear that what Trump is saying is "You'd better "stay strong" and stick to our agreed story, no matter what trouble you get into yourself, because otherwise, you are going to end up in a vacant lot with a dead canary in your mouth."  Or more briefly, "shut up or die."  Flynn must know perfectly well that Trump would run over him with a tank to pick up a nickel he sees in the street.  Well, now he's gotten the "horse head in my bed" message- an offer he can't refuse; i.e. an offer to stay alive.

A Lesson on Republican Damage Control

We learned yesterday that nearly a year ago, in a conversation with some other Republican Congressional leaders, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said that he believed Trump was on Putin's payroll.

When questioned by a reporter, the conversation went something like this:

"We heard you accused Trump of being on Putin's payroll"

        "That never happened"

"But we have a transcript of the conversation"

        "The transcript is wrong."

"Actually, we have a tape of it."

"Oh, I was just kidding when I said it."

Three lies in a row.  Well, what else do you expect?  Lying to hide treason.  Because nothing makes a damned bit of difference to them except paying off the rich bastards who put up the money to put them in office.  And sad to say, getting rid of Trump is not going to change that one bit.  We had better be looking way past Trump if we ever want to see an end to the miserable disaster that has befallen our country.

And Now the Good News

Roger Ailes is dead.

One down, about five thousand of these Republican traitors to go.

Coward McCain Backs Off Already

I am going to just reprint this short article from the Washington Post, in which that great Republican hero, and man of unshakable righteousness, Saint John McCain, tries as furiously as is humanly possible to back out of his comparison yesterday of Trump's monumental criminality to Watergate:

"Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who compared the current controversies to Watergate on Tuesday night, shed light Wednesday on his attention-grabbing remark.

“What I was saying was that these scandals need to be completely — all the information needs to get out as quickly as possible so we can resolve the issue and move forward,” said McCain.

He added: “It is a serious issue the way other scandals have been serious issues.”

In the Watergate scandal, President Nixon resigned before he could be impeached.

Asked whether the current imbroglio could lead to impeachment, McCain responded: “I have no idea of that — come on.”

Pressed further on whether he was ruling out impeachment, McCain said: “The thought had not crossed my mind.”

Impeachment never crossed his mind when he compared Trump's situation to Watergate.  Oh no, he never thought of that!

So, anyone of you out there who has watched McCain's behavior over the last two decades, and still believed that his commitment to doing the right thing extends to anything beyond a quickly retracted sound bite, think again.  This is the sort of morally rudderless tool that is being cited as the only chance that we have to deal with Trump in an appropriate manner.  Trump is a corrupt, criminal, stupid, ignorant, out of control traitor, but if it demands the cooperation of one single Congressional Republican to deal with this situation, forget it.  They are, every single one of them, just as corrupt as Trump.  They deliberately created the base of hate filled fools that put him in office, and they are still just thrilled with their accomplishment.  Apparently it would take a truly cataclysmic disaster to move one single one of them into facing up to their treachery.

Well, never fear.  At the rate we are going, how can that be far away?

A History Lesson from our President

Donald Trump today:

“No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly”

Oh yeah, asshole?  How about this guy?

Or maybe this guy:
No, Trump has it so much worse.

This statement by Trump is an absolute abomination.

With Trump, we have a combination of ignorance and malignant egomania which is truly world class.  Now that he thinks that he is the target of so much unfair hostility, his mental state is clearly deteriorating by the day.  Will the Republicans, still hoping to get a massive tax giveaway out of Congress in time for him to put his signature on it, delay his removal until he damages the country beyond repair?  Stay tuned.

Wingnut Wrapup

So, what are the wingnuts moaning about, while their beloved President destroys the last shreds of democratic government in the country, and makes himself out to be one of the biggest idiots in recorded human history??

Well, of course, we expect this one:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Judicial Watch President: Hillary Clinton Still Faces Legal Jeopardy Over Gross Mishandling of Classified Information"

Which of course she did not do, but with our current government, that is hardly enough to keep her out of prison. This story was written before Donald Trump's spilling his guts about Israeli intelligence operations to the Russians was revealed.  I wonder how Katie feels about that?

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Interview with Healthcare Wonk Lanhee Chen: How Can the Senate Improve the Healthcare Bill?"

Well, that should prove to be some helpful advice.  Never heard of Lanhee Chen?  He works for the "Hoover Institute," one of the oldest standing right wing lie factories in the country.  So, what are his helpful suggestions?  Slashing Medicaid and doing away with regulations on insurance companies.  Thanks, Lanhee, for coming up with two ideas that have never been thought of before.

Matt Vespa: "Flashback: When Democrats Loved Comey And Thought We Were Privileged To Have Him As FBI Director"

Never.  I think that would be the right answer there.  Some of them might have thought that Comey was the best right wing fanatic the crooked, Republican controlled system could cough up (they were wrong about that) but they all knew that you don't get anyone but a wingnut tool as head of the FBI.

And of course, we knew this was coming:

Michael Barone, Town Hall:  "James Comey Is the Latest Victim of the Clintons"

The Clintons. Yeah, it was Hillary who fired Comey.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Mona Charen, Town Hall:  "Trump's Escape From Comey Mess"

Seppuku?  Mona makes this claim:

"President Donald Trump has obeyed the law since taking the oath of office."

Well, that's nice.  Or would be, if it were remotely true.  There are, you know, still laws against using your government job to financially benefit your family, or against using the government to benefit a foreign dictator.  Oh, THOSE laws.  Well, except for them.  And a few dozen more I could mention.  Like that thing in the Constitution about treason.

Or this astute analysis of the problems in the executive branch:

Streiff, Red State:  "“With Few Exceptions” Donald Trump Needs to Hire Brighter People"

Yeah, all he needs is people who show more intelligence in savaging the democratic norms that have enabled the country to exist for over two centuries.  Because then, people might never have noticed that Trump is making himself into a dictator until it is too late.  Actually, it may already be too late.  What Trump really needs is better liars- that is all Streiff is really saying.

And the Conservatives beg Trump to keep his real promise to them:

Spengler, PJ Media:  "More Killing, Please, Mr. President!"

Well, just spit it right out there, Mr. Spengler.  May I point out, if you have forgotten, that this sickening right wing pervert has taken his pseudonym from  Oswald Spengler, the author of a 1918 book entitled "The Decline of the West," that was one of the most pervasive influences on the thought of one Adolf Hitler, a figure often cited as having had a significant role in German politics in the years following the publication of Spengler's book.

And in major national news:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Wow! Liberal Student Freaks Out – Screams for Over 2 Minutes Straight After Seeing Trump Sign on Campus "

Two minutes!  The country will never recover!

Eddie Scarry, Washington Examiner:  "The media have already impeached Trump"

If only.

Philip Klein, Washington Examiner:  "Jimmy Kimmel is everything that's wrong with America's healthcare debate"

Eight years and billions of dollars of right wing corporate-financed lies.  And it's all Jimmy Kimmel's fault.  I should have figured that out by myself!

Art Moore, World Net Daily:  "REBELLION GROWS AGAINST MUSLIM INDOCTRINATION IN SCHOOL...'At what point did you decide that it was OK to teach my children about Islam?'

Yeah, and while we are on the subject, at what point did you decide that it was OK to teach Art's children about evolution or racism or geology or astronomy or any other fucking subject Art doesn't want them to know about?

World Net Daily:  "Tom Coburn, Mark Levin agree: Convention of Dead 50-foot squid washes ashore"

That's what it said, anyway.  Not sure what it means.

Breitbart:  "Report: Donald Trump to Hang Portrait of Electoral College Landslide in White House...A reporter for the One America News Network spotted a White House staffer walking through the building with a framed map of the electoral college victory."

Is there a point where egomania descends into a national obscenity?  Because if there is, Trump just passed that point.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Analysis: McMaster Doesn't Deny Core Elements of WaPo Story, But Rejects Its Premise"

Translation into English:  It's all true, but so fucking what?  What are you going to do about it, buddy?

Bernard Goldberg, Town Hall:  "Trump, Comey and the Wound that Just Won't Heal"

Aah, at last, a right winger who is going to try to be honest about the chaos and subversion in the White House...oh, wait, how could I have been so naive?

"For a while now Democrats have had about as much confidence in FBI chief James Comey as they have in Donald Trump, which is next to none -- and I'm being generous. They've wanted Comey removed from office because they believed he was a big reason Hillary Clinton lost the presidency. Now, thanks to Donald Trump's decision to fire him, they got just what they said they wanted. Except now they don't want it.

If Hillary Clinton had won and fired Comey, Democrats would have said he got what he deserved."

See?  The whole thing is not about Trump's criminality, his treason and obstruction of justice, it's about the fact that Democrats wanted both the removal of the right wing tool Comey and the right wing monster Trump, which somehow makes it all about them.

Neil Stevens, Red State:  "Rosie O’Donnell Wants To Repeat A Dark Moment In History...Rosie O’Donnell has a plan for America. We’ve seen this before in Latin America. It doesn’t end well."

Rosie O'Donnell.  Well, she has her hands right on the levers of power in the United States, doesn't she?  On the other hand, best ignore the guy in the White House who is trying to repeat a dark moment in history that took place in 1930's Germany.

Duke Fergus, Red State:  "This Week: Will Jeff Sessions Tame The Music Industry Crony Capitalists?"

This week!  The crucial issue to America that is taking place this week!  Music industry crony capitalists!!!  And by the way, where is this threat coming from?  The record companies, with their decades long history of screwing musicians?  Services like Pandora, with their shorter but equally brutal history of screwing musicians?  No, the threat comes from "crony capitalists" like ASCAP and BMI, who are conspiring to see that musicians get some scraps of the revenue from their creations.  Protect the workers and you are now a "crony capitalist;" screw the workers and you are, I guess, a "job creator." Jobs that don't pay anything, but still...

Streiff, Red State:  "BREAKING. H. R. McMaster Gives a Presser on the Alleged Trump Security Blunder"

"Alleged."  You've got to love that word.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "FBI Stoolies Leak Secret Comey Memo to NY Times — Trump Administration Responds to Latest FakeNews"

Well, either it's fake news or it's not.  If the "stoolies" leaked it, it's not fake news, it's real news.  Talk about wanting to have your cake and eat it too.  So, here's Jim's standard:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Did Washington Post Just Publish Its 4th Major FakeNews Story in Last Week?"

See, if Jim doesn't like it, it's fake.  That's the standard of journalism today, by a certified liar who is now, thanks to Donald Trump, an official member of the White House press corps.

Alan Keyes, Renew America:  "Firing Comey: Did Trump give his adversaries a sword?"

If he did, I'd like to suggest that they give it a good cleaning, as he stuck it in his own back before turning it over.

And man, is this going to help things:

Cliff Kincaid, Renew America:  "Changing academia has been much more difficult than changing the media. However, there is hope: President Donald Trump has asked Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. to head a White House task force on reforming the U.S. higher education system."

Jerry Falwell, who runs one of the most fraudulent excuses for a "university" in our history, to "reform" our higher education system.  And how will he do that?

"It is anticipated that Falwell's task force will recommend the increasing use of online courses in order to drive down the costs of higher education for students nationwide. This is a proven method to accomplish what we call "Defunding the Marxist Madrassas." In this way, the academic bastions of Marxist thought that inhibit real diversity in thinking, and even prevent conservatives from coming on campus, can be reduced in their influence and even dismantled."

"Marxist Madrassas."  Did it ever occur to Cliff that Communists are atheists and consequently somewhat unlikely to be associated with Madrassas?  No?  Well, then.  Of course, the real effect of this "reform" would be to drive more and more of our "higher education" resources into the hands of crooked rich people like Betsey DeVos.

Larry Klayman, Renew America:  "Indict Comey for obstruction of justice"

Comey...obstruction of justice...well, you don't really want to see any of the rest of what Larry has to say, because it is totally incoherent, and you've already heard the punch line, so we'll just move on.

Bryan Fischer, Renew America:  "Gay effort to reintroduce slavery in the South fails"

This has to do with someone being required to serve a gay client in his place of business.  Given that Republicans are actually trying to reduce the American working populace to a condition barely distinguishable from slavery, it's sort of amusing, but like Larry Klayman's article just above, a classic example of right wingers accusing liberals of every abomination the right is committing themselves.

Glenn Beck, The Blaze:  "Ted Cruz has a bill to solve health care: here is what it would do "

Well, I'm not about to waste my time reading this, so let me just take a guess:  It would kick a few million more people out of their healthcare plans, and give a multibillion dollar gift to the richest people in America.  I'm pretty sure that I've got the basics of whatever he is proposing.

Geoffrey P. Hunt, American Thinker:  "Trump Drops Bunker Buster on Comey and the Deep State"

And with the same effect: zero on Trump's enemies, and a couple more points shaved off of his already pathetic approval rating.  Way, to go there, Donny boy!

J. Robert Smith, American Thinker:  "Trump’s Outdated WH Media Operation Has to Go"

They just aren't lying anywhere near hard enough.

"The president deserves a communications strategy and execution as groundbreaking and bold as himself."

And as criminal and deceptive.  Maybe then he'd have a chance.

Avrohom Gordiner, American Thinker:  "New York City's Reduced Crime Rates: Don't Be Fooled"

Don't be fooled by the truth!  Things MUST have gotten a lot worse under Obama, trust American Thinker on that one.

Allan J. Favish, American Thinker:  "Sally Yates misquoted the law to Ted Cruz"

Sally Yates is the former acting Attorney General of the United States.  Allan Favish is also an attorney; he has spent his career trying to prevent insurance companies from having to pay out on claims to their insured clients.  He is also known in Washington D.C. for having spent over ten years filing motions demanding the autopsy photos of Vince Foster, so he can "prove" that Hillary killed Foster.  So, who are you going to believe is more likely to be correctly interpreting the law?

Oliver Lane, Breitbart:  "1 in 5 Child Deaths in London Borough Caused by Parents Being ‘Close Relatives’

I never knew there were that many people from Alabama in London.

And let's just go out on this frightening story:

Before It's News:  "Creatures of the Bottomless Pit – the Real Alien Threat You Need to Be Aware Of!  URGENT: You need to see this now – the Revelation ‘locusts of the bottomless pit’ have now been uncovered! This is not science fiction. This is reality. The greatest horror the world will ever see is about to unleash from beneath the Earth! Unless you want to witness the GREATEST HORROR THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN – You better PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!"

" This is not science fiction. This is reality."  Well, you've been warned.

More soon, until wingnut writers complete the descent into incomprehensible apelike gibberish which they have been promising for several years now.

How Many Reasons to Impeach?

Let's start out by remembering that, no matter how they spin it, the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton over a blow job, and that they tried for years to gin up an impeachment of Barack Obama based on an endless series of lies about Benghazi.

Times have sure changed, huh?  We now have an absolutely out of control, mentally defective Republican President who seems to be licensed to engage in any sort of abomination without its bothering Congressional Republicans one bit.  He seems to commit clearly impeachable abuses weekly, if not daily, and not one single Republican will state the obvious in public.

I think I'll just take a walk through the last few months and list some of the grounds that exist to remove this malignant character from the White House.  I will start with the most recent and work my way into the past, where the real abominations lie.

1.  Trump has just been caught revealing the nation's most secret intelligence data to the Russians.  Compare the Republican silence about this to the year-long screaming fit about Hillary's alleged revealing "classified data," which turned out to consist of two e-mails congratulating foreign leaders on their election.  Republicans answer that the President has the right to reveal any damned thing he pleases.  That may be technically true, but imagine him tweeting out our nuclear codes, which he is apparently legally entitled to do.  Having the "right" to do something and getting kicked the hell out of the White House for doing it are two separate things.  And let me add here that this revelation is going to relate to one of the two really big reasons for impeaching Trump, in that it provides further damning evidence that the bastard is selling the country out to the Russians.

2.  He has engaged in a continuous round of obstruction of justice, to prevent the real knowledge of his connections to the Russians from being revealed.  The firing of James Comey is the most recent of those criminal actions, which also include appointing a Secretary of State and national security advisor who were both involved up to their necks in dirty dealings with the Russians, firing prosecutors who were investigating the matter, choosing an Attorney General who is such a corrupt right winger that he will crush any internal investigation into Trump's treason, and a host of lesser intimidations of these and other people.

3.  He has allowed his family to profit from his position.  The most recent obscene example of this is the selling of visas into the United States by Jared Kushner and his family, in return for $500,000 investments into Kushner's company.  In contrast to the behavior of previous Presidents, Trump has absolutely refused to separate himself in any way from the operation of his family businesses; we have seen numerous examples of the use of government resources to promote his companies, or even to financially benefit them directly, as when the government pays him to have his staff stay at Mar-a-Lago or Trump Tower.  He has furthermore absolutely refused to even let the American people know the full extent of his financial entanglements, which may point to not just corruptly benefiting his family, but which will likely reveal the extensive nature of his dependence on the Russians.

4. Now I come to what is, in my opinion, the main reason that Trump should be impeached: the refusal to carry out his sworn duty as President of the United States.  The Constitution requires of the President that "he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed."  Trump has appointed a whole host of cabinet secretaries and other top government officials who are openly committed to frustrating or reversing the standing law of the United States.

This happened most blatantly in the past with Ronald Reagan, who appointed the likes of James Watt to head the Interior Department, and Clarence Thomas to head the Civil Rights division of the Justice Department.  People like them had long-standing ideological commitments to tearing down the rule of law in this country, and should never have been allowed to take office; when Reagan appointed them, he should have been impeached immediately for refusal to carry out his sworn duty as President.  The cowardly Democrats failed to do this, and as a result we ended up with Bush-Cheney and Trump.  Well, what Reagan did, Trump is applying in a wholesale manner to every bit of the government he can get his hands on.

Within the last couple of days, just to cite one example, Trump has put forward for the position as chief scientist at the USDA, a man who is not a scientist, who has never been a scientist, but did spend several years as a right wing talk show host in the Midwest, where he endlessly railed against climate change science as a hoax.  I'm sorry, but the President has no right to do things like this, not and retain his position.  And this example hardly begins to approach the seriousness, for example, of his appointment of a man with $500 billion dollars riding on doing away with sanctions on Russia, to be Secretary of State, or making a woman dedicated to turning our educational system into nothing but a profit center for the rich, most notably her own family, to be the Secretary of Education.

5.  Now for the final area in which Trump has engaged in (to say the least) impeachable offenses:  The absolutely clear evidence that he is a traitor, who has sold the country out on numerous occasions to a foreign dictator, in payment for that dictator's rigging our election system to make him President.  And I will not budge on this description.  We now have dozens of examples of his entanglements with Putin and the Russian oligarchs, as well as so many specimens of clear payoffs to them, that you would have to be a fool to let yourself be swayed by the thundering chorus of right wingers trying to shout down the obvious: Trump is a traitor. The most recent of these payoffs spectacularly came, as I mentioned above, with the betraying to the Russians some of the country's most closely guarded intelligence secrets; something we would not even know about if he had had his way.  But the payoffs to the Russians are legion, and have been occurring since the time he won office; the deliberate alienation of the United States from its allies, the obvious intent, with the appointment of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, to do away with sanctions on Russia (can you give any other explanation why he would pick as Secretary of State a person without one day's experience in foreign diplomacy in his whole life, but who has the most to gain financially of any single person in the United States from doing away with Russian Sanctions?  I mean, really, how obvious does something have to be?), his appointment as chief National Security advisor a person with his own massive entanglements with the Russians, including some pretty big financial payouts, and on and on.

I want to say this again: despite all the Republican screaming to the contrary, it is absolutely clear that Trump is the tool of a hostile foreign country.  He is a traitor, beyond any reasonable doubt.  The proofs that this is true come out almost every day.

Well, there is a list of four main areas, within which lie at the very least several dozen absolutely justified reasons for removing Trump from office.  Unfortunately, the evidence as of today is that the entire pack of Republicans in Congress are every bit as corrupt and subversive as he is, so all of this will still not reach, in their minds, the magnitude of a blow job, or even what they all knew were a pack of totally false smears about Benghazi.  It only took three honest Republicans in Congress to side with the Democrats and bring down Nixon.  As I have said before, the Republicans learned their lesson from Nixon very well.  There is today, as the result of a decades-long, systematic effort, not one single honest Republican in Congress, and perhaps there is not one on earth.  Otherwise this farce of a Presidency would have been over two months ago.  Not that Mike Pence will give the country anything better in the way of governing than the lunatic Trump, but apparently nothing is too low for Republicans to swallow, while they are waiting to vote in those massive tax cuts for the rich and deregulation for their corporations.  Until then, Trump could invite a Russian army to occupy Alaska and they'd all have reasons why that was just fine.

Headline of the Day

From Crooks and Liars:

"White House Comms Staff Are Screaming At Each Other Right Now"

And life goes on, in the Trump administration.  Is there any way that this could get more degraded?

Antivaxxers Spread the Truth

Not that it is at all surprising, but here is a screen shot of a remark that showed up in my Disqus feed:
Oh well.

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Let's just cut things to the most basic.  The entire survival of the United States, at least as anything the world could ever want to see, depends on the discovery of three honest Republicans.
And right now, even one does not seem to exist anywhere in the country.  A party that has systematically, over several decades of work, managed to purge every single decent person from a position of power.  And virtually the entire population of the country carefully averts its gaze from that fact, and insists on ignoring the vermin clawing away at every decent thing about us.

That's the story- I could repeat these few sentences every day from now until we have descended into an open dictatorship, which we are rapidly doing, and nothing will change.  Instead, the nation will be flooded with infinite distractions from this fact; infinite explanations about how it's our destruction is the fault of someone, anyone else.  And the infinite lies are well on the way to overwhelming us all, at which point it will be illegal to tell the truth, just as in every other dictatorship in history, and the future will hold nothing but war and impoverishment.

The Enemy of My Enemy

Is not necessarily my friend.

Case in point: James Comey.

Yes, he may be the latest victim to be rubbed out by Donald Trump, but never forget that he is also a right wing hatchet man who used his position to stab Hillary Clinton in the back during the campaign, and is probably the number one single person responsible for the disaster we are facing today.

Comey is a thoroughly evil man, regardless of what he is now doing to try to salvage his public image.  He is no more trustworthy or admirable, in the end, than the traitor he put in the Oval Office.  Please do not allow yourselves to forget that fact.

Thursday, May 11, 2017

As reported in the New York Times today:

"WASHINGTON — Only seven days after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as president, James B. Comey has told associates, the F.B.I. director was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with the new commander in chief.  The president...turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him."

I don't think I need say any more about this.

Obstruction of Justice

I want to give a huge "well done" to Josh Marshall, at Talking Points Memo, for catching the following statement by Donald Trump, in a CNN interview today.  So far, nobody else seems to have grasped the significance of what Trump says, or as is probably the case, the mainstream press is just ignoring it.

"I was going to fire Comey knowing, there was no good time to do it.  And in fact, when I decided to do it, I said to myself, I said you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won."

As Marshall suggests, this is explicit confession of obstruction of justice, a crime which easily forms legitimate grounds for impeachment.

Well, throw it in the scrap heap with the dozens of other grounds for impeachment which this traitor has piled up in the last three months, because we know damned well that his Republican buddies don't give a damn about anything but rewarding their backers for paying to keep them in office.  Still, it's best to keep track of just how far out of control the Republican government is.

Dictatorship, American style.  This is what it looks like, folks.  How many more days will it be before people who stand up to Trump just start disappearing, like they do in Russia?

Update:  The following remark is from Samuel W. Buell, a Duke University law professor and former prosecutor.  Just his opinion at this point, but still interesting:

“If this were an actual criminal investigation — in other words, if there were a prosecutor and a defense lawyer in the picture — this would draw a severe phone call to counsel warning that the defendant is at serious risk of indictment if he continues to speak to witnesses. Thus, this is also definitive evidence that Trump is not listening to counsel and perhaps not even talking to counsel. Unprecedented in the modern presidency.”

In all of the excitement about the complete dissolution of even the thinnest veneer of legitimacy surrounding Donald Trump's Presidency, it is vitally important that we not lose sight of the most significant fact in all of this:

And I mean every one, without exception.  Every single one of them believes in destroying Social Security and Medicare and giving all the money to the rich.  Every one of them believes the country should be an oligarchic dictatorship.  Every one of them believes in savaging the poor and middle class to benefit their rich backers.  Every one.  Every single one of them without exception is a monster of corruption, as bad as Trump.  They just hide it a little better than he does, with a huge assist from the mainstream press, which has spent decades meticulously averting its eyes from the horrors the Republican party has visited upon us.

The Republicans learned a huge lesson from the Nixon humiliation:  It only took a half dozen Republicans with some shred of concern for our country's welfare, to join with Democrats to remove Nixon from office.  Well, they made damned sure that such a thing would never happen again.  There is not a single Republican allowed in a position of power today that will stand up to Trump, let alone stand against the rape of our country that is the only real platform the Republican party has.  Because Trump is them, just a little too upfront about it.  Right now, his circus antics are welcome to the other Republicans, because they are distracting attention from the malignant damage they are wreaking on our society, now that they are in complete control.  But do not fool yourself into thinking that removing Trump will put the country back onto the right path; only excising the entire pack of corruption that is the Republican party could do that.

In a way, Trump is the greatest thing that ever happened to the Republicans, because they can remove him any time they want, on any one of dozens of legitimate grounds for impeachment, and then pretend they have heroically dealt with the nation's problem.  And this is still the most likely course of events:  they will ride him until they have gotten him to take credit for as much of their hateful agenda as they can, and then kick him to the curb, with no more remorse than Trump felt stabbing the loyal lap-dog Comey in the back.  Then, it will be on with their dirty business as though nothing has happened, while the mainstream press crows about what noble, self-sacrificing Republican leadership we are blessed to have.

They Don't Even Care How Preposterous Their Lies Are

From the Washington Post today, a classic example of our mainstream press at work:

"Acting FBI director Andrew McCabe vowed Thursday that he would tell the Senate Intelligence Committee if the White House tried to interfere with the bureau’s probe of possible coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election — though he asserted that there had “been no effort to impede our investigation to date.”

McCabe made the statements at a public hearing with top U.S. intelligence officials before the Senate Intelligence Committee — a hearing that has taken on new significance since Trump suddenly removed James B. Comey from the FBI’s top post."

They fired the head of the FBI as soon as he said he was continuing the investigation into them, and the guy they put in as his acting replacement just came out and said there has been no effort to impede the investigation.  And the Washington Post repeats it as though it were the gospel truth.

Lying right in our faces- now the standard practice not just of the Republican party but of the American press too.  How can we hope to survive in the face of this?  And let's be clear; there is not enough outrage on earth to adequately respond to this, but this is what we are stuck with today.

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

The Washington Post has just reported that the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Donald Trump's approval rating has sunk from 40% after his bombings a couple of weeks ago, to 35% today.  And remember that these numbers largely do not reflect the news we have had in the last 24 hours.  This is the lowest Trump rating yet, and the lowest ever recorded for a President in his first term.  And remember that Quinnipiac tends, for whatever reason, to lean slightly Republican, so we could guess that the real number is something like 33%, or only six percentage points about the dead minimum support that any Republican gets from their self destructive, hate filled base.  It'll be interesting to see where he is next week, although as we approach the core remnant of their irredentist batch of morons, each further point down will get harder and harder to reach.

The Treason Train Rolls On

I want to discuss the preposterous lies and disgusting behavior that have come out of the Republicans in Washington over just the last day, concerning the Trump hatcheting of James Comey, but before I do I have to talk about legitimate grounds for believing things.

We know that these grounds are completely different for the two political parties.  If you are a Republican, you are entitled to believe that the Clintons have murdered close to a hundred people, that Barack Obama is a Muslim Communist agent who spent his whole time in office (with notable lack of success) working to destroy the United States, that Hillary Clinton runs a child rape business out of a pizza parlor in Washington D. C.and on and on.  On the other hand, Democrats are bound by more than the rules of a jury trial, and basically have no right to say what is right in front of our faces, without having an engraved golden tablet signed by Jesus, Mohammed and the Angel Moroni providing evidence of Republican abuses.

Well, here's the thing:  Despite the many abuses of the legal system by police and prosecutors all over this country every single day, the trial system is still an adversarial one, where in principle the accusers have to tell the truth, and where the accused is allowed expert counsel to provide their side of the story.  This is what we absolutely do not have when a Republican is in the White House, able to crush evidence against them and force the investigators to ignore the obvious.

For this reason, we must not be diverted by meaningless cries to abide by a trial standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt."  We are not a jury, but co-victims of an out of control Republican government, and we cannot afford to deny what is right in front of our faces.  And what is right in front of our faces is the absolutely clear fact that Trump is deeply involved with Putin and other Russian mobsters, and is acting almost every day to further their interests at the expense of our country.

Or to be more blunt, Trump is a traitor.   The evidence to support that fact, and it is a fact, is so overwhelming that only willing adherence to right wing thought control, or utter stupidity, could possibly lead anyone to deny it at this point.  Do not ever, ever lose sight of the fact that this firing is not about Comey, but about a treasonous President trying to hide his guilt- something far more malignant than anything that Richard Nixon did.

And while I am on the subject, let me point out what you get in return for sacrificing yourself for the likes of Trump.  Comey fell on his sword, and absolutely destroyed any reputation or legacy he might have had, to put Trump in the White House.  Trump's response was to wait a few months and then hatchet him in a way that guaranteed he would never have a high government position again, and what's more, that Comey would be so humiliated that nobody will ever again believe a word he says.  Maybe honor among thieves does exist somewhere, but I think it's pretty clear that there is no such thing as honor among traitors.

Now, let's move along with what would have been months of news under anything approaching an honest or even rational government, but which has all happened in the last 24 hours:

From the New York Times (not that they are a trustworthy source of news any more:)

"WASHINGTON — Days before he was fired, James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in resources for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election, according to four congressional officials, including Senator Richard J. Durbin.

But Sarah Isgur Flores, the Justice Department spokeswoman, said “the idea that he asked for more funding” for the Russia investigation was “totally false.”

An out and out lie from the Trump White House, regarding a story now confirmed by numerous sources.

Funny that it was not until months after the election, but a couple of days after Comey apparently indicated he was proceeding with his investigation, that Trump suddenly felt the need to stand up for Hillary and fire Comey.  If you buy that, you really are a fool.   Trump fired Comey to shut him up, period, and every one of us knows it.

And this amusing tidbit from Daily Kos:

"(The) Comey firing came after Russia coverage that left Trump screaming at the television...He had grown enraged by the Russia investigation, two advisers said, frustrated by his inability to control the mushrooming narrative around Russia. He repeatedly asked aides why the Russia investigation wouldn’t disappear and demanded they speak out for him. He would sometimes scream at television clips about the probe, one adviser said."

So Trump was screaming at the TV, but it was only the decision of a Deputy Attorney General who was only confirmed in his position two weeks ago to fire Comey.  Trump had nothing to do with it, cross my heart, leaving it to this guy to pull the trigger.  Trump was too busy screaming at the TV, I guess.  This is another transparent lie that is being treated by the press as though it had any substance whatsoever.

And in the process, no one will even talk about what it means about his mental state, that the President of the United States spends his days screaming at the TV.

And some more blatant lying:

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions recommended that Trump fire Comey and now we find that the AG is considering ending the investigation into possible collusion with Russia by the amateur president's administration."

Why, of course he's "considering" ending the investigation.  Remember what I said above about the phrase "beyond a reasonable doubt."  It is, in fact, beyond reasonable to believe a word Trump or his tools have to say.

And this will certainly help Trump:

"Meanwhile, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that Trump has asked a Washington law firm to send a certified letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham stating that he has no connections to Russia."

A certified letter.  Well, that should clear up any doubt.  Like a certified letter from Jeffrey Dahmer claiming that he was a lifelong vegan.  And of course, if you are counting on Congressional Republicans to do their job and protect the country from traitors (foolish you,) forget that:

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Wednesday defended President Donald Trump’s decision to fire James Comey as director of the FBI. McConnell also argued against appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 election."

The way things are going, I put the odds at about 15% that the real truth about Trump's treason, and the complicity in that treason of many Republican leaders, will ever be uncovered.  The only thing that comforts me in that is that, given the gigantic, unprecedented magnitude of that treason, 15% of the truth may be enough to destroy these criminals.

But don't think it will be easy to pry one shred of the truth loose from them.  They have their priorities straight; apparently delivered in no uncertain terms from one Vladimir Putin:

"White House press was barred from the meeting between President Trump and Foreign Minister Lavrov. But a Russian news agency was allowed in"

Tell me the last time you ever heard of something like that happening in the White House.  And if you come up with an answer, I have a good substance abuse counselor that I can recommend to you, because no President ever would have had the nerve to pull a stunt like that.

And even if these guys let the press in, the press had better be pretty damned careful not to ask the wrong questions:

"A veteran West Virginia reporter has been arrested and charged with "disruption of government processes" in the state capitol for "yelling questions" at visiting Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price and White House senior advisor Kellyanne Conway.

Daniel Ralph Heyman, 54, with the Public News Service of West Virginia, was freed on $5,000 bond Tuesday night on a charge of "willful disruption of government processes," according to a criminal complaint...Heyman later told reporters he was “trying to do my job”

With all that is going on, it didn't even register with the mainstream press that a veteran reporter was arrested for trying to ask questions of a Trump administration official.  Freedom of the press, hooah!  That's where we have gotten to as a country, a hundred and ten days after allowing this traitor into the White House.

Well, that's one day.  One day!  What will be next, when more and more stories of Trump's criminality dribble out?  Stay tuned.

Wingnut Wrapup

I want to start this edition of Wingnut Wrapup by reporting that, in a poll this week, 30% of Americans claim to approve of the Republican health care bill.  If there is any sign of how little benefit is to be gained from caring about what is true and what is false, this is it.  It's the old 27% of brain-dead haters and idiots, plus or minus a few percent, created by the Republican party, that keep this country from being a decent place, who lap up the "reporting" that I cover in Wingnut Wrapup; and there does not seem to be a thing we can do to change that.

I also want to remember Bob Owens.  Bob used to have a site called Confederate Yankee, which for years provided fodder for Wingnut Wrapup.  Bob was quite a gun nut, and eventually he abandoned that site for one which only dealt with guns.  The content of that site was not of much interest to me, so he pretty much disappeared from Wingnut Wrapup.

Well, I want to sincerely (I mean it this time) send my condolences to his family.  I just heard that Bob died on Sunday.  Of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.  At least we can take some comfort in the fact that Bob made it to the day when his gun liberated him from the coming Commie/Muslim takeover of America.  I hope it brought him some peace.

So, on we go. I guess I can't help starting out with a few of the pathetic right wing responses to the Comey firing:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Chuck Schumer's Shameless Hypocrisy and Faux Outrage Over James Comey's Firing"

Because the fact that Schumer had little confidence in Comey (who did?) means he isn't allowed to talk about the latest clear evidence that Trump knows damned well that he is a traitor, and will do anything to cover it up.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Analysis: Timing, Reasons for Comey's Firing Raise Questions, But Trump's Next Move is What Matters"

Because what Trump has already done is never enough to make a decision about him.  Which leads me to another comment from the aforementioned, miserable liar Katie Pavlich:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "President Trump: I Fired Comey Because He Wasn't Doing a Good Job"

Well, great.  I guess that means Trump is going to fire himself next, huh, Katie?  Katie actually pretends that she believes Trump.  That's what you get the big right wing bucks for, I guess.

And, of course, we will now get the obligatory right wing character assassination:

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "James Comey was more Barney Fife than Columbo...Well done, Mr. President.  In reality, we're dealing with a bunch of hysterical Democrats shedding crocodile tears and a Mainstream Media full of Ted Baxter journalists who wouldn't know the truth if it knocked them upside their heads with a cast iron skillet. "

Expect lots more around those lines in the near future.

Monica Showalter, American Thinker:  "In Firing Comey, Trump Shows He's Afraid of No One"

Funny, I thought it showed that he is afraid of everyone.  At least everyone who shows the slightest intention of investigating his treason.

"And not just fires him, but does it in the coldest possible way -- publicly, through the television screens, as Comey bizarrely laughed, convinced he was unfireable, just as he began to make a speech in Los Angeles. It was an artful use of the media, of which Trump has a masterly understanding. "You are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately," Trump's letter read, released soon after the laugh.

You're not going to mess with that man."

Well, whoopee, Trump proves once again that he is one of the biggest pricks on the face of the earth.  Or, to put it another way, just what Conservatives look for in a President.  And for a little more laughable historical revisionism:

"Comey's problem is was not a matter of left or right quite so much as it was a matter of leftism and and power. He was a leftist, but he loved swaggering out on establishent power."

Yeah, Comey was a leftist.  That's their story.  And they're sticking to it.  He's just one more on the endless line of committed leftists picked to head the FBI.

"Comey's contempt for Hoover goes in the areas of civil rights, where, like any leftist, he is anxious to distort history into black and white."

In civil rights, Comey tried to "distort" history into black and white.  How do you even mock a statement like that?

Well, on to the rest.  Plenty more to come on this story, I am sure.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Jake Tapper Suggests Dems Have Already 'Undermined their Own Credibility' on Health Care...Democrats have no right to criticize Republicans for their handling of the American Health Care Act, considering how surreptitiously they passed Obamacare in 2009, CNN's Jake Tapper suggested Thursday."

Of course, that was a Republican lie.  Obamacare was passed after months of debate, with the full text of the law available the entire time.  Still it has become a central Republican myth that it was passed "in the middle of the night," with no one having a chance to read it.  Something similar to that actually did happen with the Republican "health care" bill, so time to trot out the old lie once again.  And by the way, apparently it is now the Republican line that therefore the Democrats have no right to speak in public about the true abominations that are in the Republican bill, which is not a health care bill at all, but a successful Republican scheme to steal hundreds of billions of dollars from ordinary Americans in order to give them to Republican campaign donors.

Congressman Paul Gosar, Town Hall:  "Antiquities Act Executive Order: An Opportunity to End a Monumental Abuse of Government Power...the Antiquities Act had good intentions, but in practice, it has morphed into a tyrannical tool for presidents to exercise unfettered land grabs at the expense of state and local interests"

Preserving our national heritage- a monumental abuse of government power; a tyrannical tool.  Using executive orders to go to war or destroy the social safety net- just great, as long as they are used by a Republican, and as long as some rich guy benefits.  Well, I repeated myself there.  If a rich guy doesn't benefit, no Republican is going to be on board.

And now, a little Republican humor to lighten your day!

Because now that Republicans have wrecked Obama's greatest accomplishment, it is our patriotic duty to crush any memory that it ever existed.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Rape Charges Dropped Against One Illegal Alien in Rockville"

Because they are criminals even when they are innocent.  Another sickening lie from our girl Katie.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "NY Daily News Columnist Torches Clinton: Just 'Shut the F**k Up And Go Away Already'

Because being gratuitously subjected to one more vicious attack in one of the most right wing newspapers in the country really stuck it to Hillary, rather than being one more humiliation to the wingnuts who lap this stuff up.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Why Wasn't Huma Abedin Charged for Verifiable, Criminal Mishandling of Classified Material?"

Because she didn't do it?  Just guessing here, but that's my suspicion.

And let's just leave Town Hall with a note that they had seven headline stories up yesterday attacking Hillary or Obama.  I guess that's really what they want to talk about the day after Trump and Congressional Republicans just committed one of the most abominable acts in the history of the United States; and you can see why.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Cher Whines About Pricey Asthma Meds After O-Care Repealed – Cher Is Worth $305 Million!"

A classic statement from a Conservative.  Right wingers cannot even conceive of the notion of someone caring about the welfare of other people.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Obama Interferes in French Election=> As Democrats Cry About Russian Interference in US Election"

No comprehension, apparently, of the difference between openly expressing your opinion, and hiring thousands of saboteurs to destroy the integrity of another country's elections, in order to place your blackmail victim in office.

Curtis Dahlgren, Renew America:  "The Third World War is being waged in your kid's school (no joke)"

No joke, just one of the stupidest lies ever.  According to Curtis, grade inflation is bringing about the end of civilization.

"No wonder our modern radicals have such a terrible time explaining what they are "protesting" or why."

Not that they do have any trouble explaining that; it's just that people like Curtis have trouble listening to the truth.

Cliff Kincaid, Renew America:  "Billionaire funds overthrow of capitalism"

Very evil.  Of course, billionaires funding the empowerment of capitalism until only those billionaires have a say in how the whole world works- well, that is just wonderful.

Cheryl Chumley, Washington Times:  "Sorry, Michelle Obama: You weren't Obama's first choice"

This story is circulating all over the wingnut world the last couple of days: apparently, Obama actually proposed to some other woman before marrying Michelle.  This apparently reveals something grossly defective about Obama.  No mention of the fact that Trump proposed to at least two women before marrying his current wife, and actually married and then dumped them.

Cheryl Chumley, Renew America:  "Trump boots Michelle Obama lunch standards — finally"

Good food for poor kids?  A grotesque abomination.  Let them starve.

Michael Reagan, Newsmax:  "Colbert Lowers the Bar With Crude, Politicized Insults"

Maybe Michael is following his father into the fog of Alzheimer's disease, and he doesn't remember the last eight years of Republican treatment of Obama and Hillary.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "(Condi) Rice: Trump Admin ‘Doing as Well as Anybody Could’ on North Korea"

Apparently, we can't expect any more from our leaders than nearly starting a nuclear war over a few belligerent comments from a foreign ruler.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "GOP Senator to Sally Yates: What Gave You the Right to Declare Trump's Travel Ban Unconstitutional?"

Oh, I don't know, maybe being acting Attorney General, whose job it was to determine which Presidential decrees had a shot of being upheld in the courts?  Note, please, that Sally Yates was right, as multiple courts have now declared Trump's travel tantrums unconstitutional.

Jim Jamitis, Red State:  "California Legislators Want to Make State Government More Communist-Friendly"

Remember those 27% I mentioned at the top of this Wingnut Wrapup?  Well, this story is for them, I guess, because they will believe anything a Republican tells them.

Debra Heine, PJ Media:  "Krauthammer Slams Obama: 'Good Riddance'"

That's not a slam, my dear, that's an infantile outburst.

PJ Media:  "Liberal Protesters Laughed When a GOP Congressman Told a Story About His Wife's Cancer..."

You know what?  He wants us to care about his wife's cancer, but he doesn't give a damn about our medical problems.  He's lucky to escape with laughter, instead of a slug in the face.

And you've just got to love this kind of "reporting:"

Bruce Bawer, PJ Media:  "What Happened in France?  How could Marine Le Pen have lost in a landslide?  Why, after the Brits chose Brexit, and Americans chose Trump, did the Dutch fail Wilders, and the French fail Le Pen?"

Yes, there are positive signs. The Sweden Democrats are on the upswing. And Wilders did gain seats in the Dutch Parliament. may well wonder: what, in heaven's name, will it take for these people to save their own societies, their own freedoms, for their own children and grandchildren?"

What will it take for Europeans to embrace open Nazism, seeing as how it worked out so well last time around?  Yes, this is what things have come to on the right today.  Don't ever kid yourself about where they are willingly, openly going.

And in the "If you believe this one, I've got a subcontract on a Trump hotel I'll sell you really cheap" category:

Leo Hohmann, World Net Daily:  "Obama aide seeks more slaughter of Christians"

And they screamed their heads off when the "liberal" press mistakenly reported where a cartload of beer in the Capitol was going.

James Lewis, American Thinker:  "The Real Reason Washington Post Republicans Hate Donald Trump...Trump has developed an effective way to reach you and me.  We understand his private code, which leaves liberals foaming at the mouth."

Yeah, his private code, i.e. hatred, greed and racism are wonderful things.  Both Trump and his followers agree with that perfectly.  And it does sort of leave liberals "foaming at the mouth."  Because, caring about human decency is such a left wing thing.  Under Trump, we've left that sort of thing way behind.

Daren Jonescu, American Thinker:  "South Korea Lurching Blindly Left"

Because having liberals win an election is "lurching blindly left."  Only electing the most piggish, violent government possible makes any sense these days.  After all, the world can't go on looking to the United States to start every war, can it?

J. Robert Smith, American Thinker:  "Macron’s Election: France Doubles Down on Failure"

Much better if they had doubled down on Nazism, which is what the other party was offering.  And a little more "thinking" from American Thinker on the subject:

Carol Brown, American Thinker:  "France chooses submission...On Sunday, the people of France voted overwhelmingly for their demise.  Of course, that's not what they think they voted for.  But it is. They think they voted for "inclusion," "fairness," "diversity," and all the rest of the hogwash served up by the leftist/globalist/communist/Islamo-fascists because hogwash is a favorite dish among useful idiots.

But make no mistake: the French people voted to assure their ruin"

Which they would not have done, I guess, if they elected an open Nazi to run their government. That would have been the sensible thing to do.

And let's just go out on this story:

Bob Unruh, World Net Daily EXCLUSIVE!  "Is 'grand illusion' about Grand Canyon on verge of being exposed?...A geologist is suing the National Park Service and its operations at Grand Canyon National Park because officials there refused him permission to do ordinary research due to his “Christian faith and scientific viewpoints informed by his Christian faith.”

Yeah, "research" to prove that the earth is 6,000 years old.  Thank you, National Park Service, for refusing to go along with this idiotic religious fanatic.

"Ken Ham, president of AiG, explained his scientist is “just asking for equal access to the canyon and not be stonewalled.”

“The case is about good science being practiced by a good scientist who is being blocked by intolerant government bureaucrats."

Good scientists.  Give me a fucking break.
