A Preposterous Act of Projection

Can anything be more ludicrous than this claim by Karl Rove, of all people? "Rove: Obama Discouraging Voting This November" Yes, in a year when the Republican party nationwide has openly and unashamedly devoted itself to keeping as many Democrats from being able to vote in November, Rove has the unmitigated gall to claim that it is Obama who is discouraging people from casting their ballots.  And how does he explain that? "Political pundit and former presidential adviser Karl Rove tells Newsmax that President Obama’s re-election tactic is to discourage voting this November by making Romney “unpalatable” to voters who don’t want to vote for the incumbent." Yes indeed, it is an unforgivable offense on the part of Obama to make Romney "unpalatable to voters."  It is a dirty trick for Obama to point out the obvious fact that his opponent doesn't belong within a thousand miles of the White House. There is just no end to the shamelessness of the Re...

McCain Reduced to a Pathetic Worm by Sarah

John McCain on Meet the Press today: "McCain: No, I don't think she quit. I think she changed.,... David Gregory: She made a promise to the voters to serve out her term, didn't she? McCain: I don't know if there was a quote "promise...." Oh no, she didn't quit. No, you couldn't call it that. She never promised to finish her term. She had her fingers crossed when she took the oath. So, it doesn't really count, right? John, buddy, I thought you couldn't sink any lower when you were going around hugging George Bush after he smeared your wife and child. I was wrong.

Green Eagle Teaparty News Report

Image
Your intrepid and fearless foreign correspondent, Green Eagle, despising danger, has once more ventured forth to the distant Land of the Patriots, to observe their great religious ritual, the Tealess Tea Party. For yes, no tea of any kind was to be seen at these tea parties. Well, whatever, here is his report. Green Eagle attended two tea parties today, one in Pasadena and one in Woodland Hills CA. Sadly, he must report that, like so many great cultural traditions, tea partying rather seems to be on the wane. The Woodland Hills spectacle attracted about 220 or 240 people; the Pasadena one less than 100. Green Eagle, who attended three of the last great wave of tea parties, is forced by his elevated journalistic standards to confess that this is far less that he saw at that time. This is enough to depress anyone who cares about our sacred values. Okay, it isn't, but it's sure enough for Green Eagle (a veteran of countless demonstrations of all kinds) to suspect that the j...

Seventy Votes

Some times, you,v just got to laugh. Here's Republican Roy Blunt, from an interview: "With respect to the passage of health care legislation, Mr. Blunt argued that it would be a mistake for the Senate to pass any health care legislation that would affect the entire country without significant agreement. He said Democrats shouldn't pass such legislation without 70 votes." Seventy votes. Remember back there in middle school civics, when they taught you that Democracy works by majority rule? Funny, but that was great with Republicans when they were in power. Anything they could pass was just fine, and they screamed like a bunch of colicky babies if the Democrats tried to stop them with a filibuster. As soon as the Democrats took over, the rule became 60 votes. And they've gotten away with it time and time again (thanks to you, Harry Reid.) And now, it's 70? I just want to suggest that what we are seeing here is the Republicans looking ahead to what's ...
