Let's start out by remembering that, no matter how they spin it, the Republicans impeached Bill Clinton over a blow job, and that they tried for years to gin up an impeachment of Barack Obama based on an endless series of lies about Benghazi. Times have sure changed, huh?  We now have an absolutely out of control, mentally defective Republican President who seems to be licensed to engage in any sort of abomination without its bothering Congressional Republicans one bit.  He seems to commit clearly impeachable abuses weekly, if not daily, and not one single Republican will state the obvious in public. I want to write briefly about two aspects of the current Trump nightmare that I have not seen discussed, or at least two predictions of where this may lead us. First, consider this:  The Trump administration has now reached a point of no return.  The damage they have done to themselves will never be fully healed, even if somehow they hold on to power.  No matter what happens from here out, there are massive numbers of Americans who will never trust them, and (legitimately so) will never give them the benefit of the doubt.  It took them only four weeks to go from the normal honeymoon to this abysmal position.
