Well, Here We Go

We'll never know the whole truth, but at least, we now know this:

"Russian President Vladimir Putin "ordered" a campaign to influence the U.S. presidential election in an attempt by Russia to "undermine public faith in the US democratic process," according to a declassified report on Russian hacking activity.

"We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency," the report reads.

"We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump," it goes on to say."

We are about to witness the swearing in as President a man who is a tool of a foreign dictator.  He is already bragging in public about how he is going to destroy the agencies charged with knowing what that dictator is up to.  How do you like that?  I guess that pretty well puts paid to any pretense that we live in a democratic society, or one whose government, from now on, will even pretend to be acting on behalf of its citizens.  Good work, Republicans- you sacrificed country for party, and that's what you got.  It's just not your party, it's a foreign party that is hostile to the United States, but to hear Republicans talk these days, that is a very insignificant thing, which we should just ignore and move on.

I don't ever want to hear a Republican or a Trump voter claim to be an American or a patriot.  They are, one and all, evil, subversive people who sacrificed all of us on the altar of their greed and hatred.  They are this country's true enemies, not Al Qaida or ISIS.  And they are about to accomplish what Al Qaida and Isis could never really dream of doing: destroying everything this country is supposed to be about.

A Little More:  From Josh Marshall, at Talking Points Memo:

"There's the simple fact that just two weeks before a new President is sworn into office, the country's intelligence agencies are publicly releasing a report claiming that the United States' great 20th century rival, Russia, conspired to assist in that new President's election. Step back and just absorb that. That is simply mind-boggling. Who could have imagined such a thing..."

I'm including this not because it adds any new information, but because it is almost impossible to be stunned enough by this revelation.  It is by far the greatest betrayal of the country ever committed by a person in a position to be President, or hold any other high office, certainly since the Civil War.  And yet the God damned mainstream press is going to make sure that this is treated as nothing but a cute little vagary from that scamp Trump, and certainly far less abominable than Hillary's e-mails or Benghazi.  We're screwed.
