An Update

Because I, like so many people, repeated the Associated Press story about the two former Guantanamo inmates who were allegedly involved in helping the underpants bomber, I want to report that this story has now come under serious suspicion, like so much crap that has come from the AP in the last few years. When I think I can sort out the truth, I will let you know what I have learned.

Wow! And you want to fight Republicans? They would never drop a lead in if the story turned out to be untrue.

In fact even when their bullshit is shown to be a pile of fetid lies they still repeat it so their vegetative followers are armored against any inconvenient truths...

Gene, you've pretty much summed it up. They can never admit when they are wrong. But then, that's them and we're us. It always amuses me when someone (say Howard Dean) criticizes a Democratic program, and the right wingers act like the entire Democratic party has been eaten away by maggots. The notion of speaking your mind, or telling the truth, just never occurs to them.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
