Bad Convention Timing

At least three important stories are getting stepped on by the Democratic convention this year.

First, coverage of the convention is giving the press a great chance to let the postal service scandal, potentially the worst received of all of Trump's corrupt activities, to recede in to the past.

Second, it has virtually disappeared the latest example of Trump's lunatic corruption, advocating the deadly chemical oleandrin as a cure for the Corona virus.  He did this out of a mixture of greed, enabling a company in which his friend had millions invested, self service, as he is desperate to tell the American people that the Corona Virus problem has been solved, whether true or false, and grotesque stupidity.

And now we hear the following story:

"President Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman posed a “grave counterintelligence threat” due to his interaction with people close to the Kremlin, according to a bipartisan Senate report released Tuesday that found extensive contacts between key campaign advisers and officials affiliated with Moscow’s government and intelligence services...In its report, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee states that Trump’s then-campaign chair Paul Manafort worked with a Russian intelligence officer “on narratives that sought to undermine evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. election,” including the idea that purported Ukrainian election interference was of greater concern.

It found that a Russian attorney who met with Manafort, along with the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and his son-in-law Jared Kushner at Trump Tower in 2016, had “significant connections” to the Kremlin."

So, it was all true, despite Trump and Barr and Lindsay Graham and every other Republican denying it a thousand times:  Trump did collude with the Russians to rig the 2016 election.  But will anyone notice?  Do you think it is an accident that Senate Republicans managed to delay the release of this report until it could hide in the shadow of the Democratic convention?

Three issues, any one of which should be enough to result in Trump's immediate ouster from the Presidency, sadly obscured by the coverage of the Democratic convention.  Sure, Michelle Obama gave a great speech, but was it really worth helping to cover up treason, criminality and terminal stupidity from Donald Trump?

Well, if the convention can only be held when Trump isn't being caught doing something outrageous, they'd need to put it off until after January 20.

I guess you've got a point there, Infidel. I downloaded the Senate Intelligence Committee report and started reading it. It's 996 pages long, so I haven't gotten that far yet, but as far as I can see, it basically confirms every story about Trump's treason. A normal President would be removed in an hour for doing this, let alone what he has done to cover it up.
