41 Lines

If you have not seen this, I really recommend that you read this post from CNN (!) entitled "The 41 most shocking lines from Donald Trump's Baghdadi announcement."  I swear to God, it is like an entire Wingnut Wrapup delivered at one time by one person.  This has to be one of the most spectacularly unqualified people on earth to be the leader of a country, and I mean that- you could pick a hundred people at random off the street and everyone of them would show more knowledge, intelligence, humanity and respect for the job than he does.

And they'd do better in the job than he has. Even a random person who knew nothing about the presidency would know that he didn't know, and would listen to his advisers.

Back to the usual narcissism. It was the Kurds who defeated the caliphate, though the US (and Iran and several other countries) helped. And we all know how Trump rewarded them for that.

But yes, Trump's statement is rambling insanity. If you showed this to anyone four years ago and told them this was a statement delivered by a future president, they would never believe it.

Hamas

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
