CEO President
We've heard it over and over again from the GOP- what this country needs is a CEO President- a guy who has proven he has what it takes by running a company.
Well, of course, we have a CEO President now- how has that worked out for us? Of course, maybe they didn't mean a CEO whose business strategy was to start out rich and then drive six of his own companies into bankruptcy after looting them of every penny he could. Yeah, maybe a CEO like the only Republican who dared to stand up to Trump in the Senate, and last Republican Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. See, Romney was a much better businessman, at least in Republican terms. He also started out rich, and was the CEO of a company called Bain Capital, a "venture capital" company that specialized in buying up sound companies, stripping them of every cent of wealth, and leaving them to go bankrupt, costing tens of thousands of jobs*. Romney was a much better businessman than Trump; he drove other people's companies into bankruptcy, not his own. Makes you kind of wonder why, if the Republican party really believes in the magical value of CEO's, they didn't run a successful one for President, like Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs or Michael Bloomberg. Could it be that what they really wanted was a thieving corporate vampire?
Well, anyway, that is not the point I really wanted to make here, so back to the subject. Actually, the Republicans are right: a CEO is perfectly prepared to be the head of a country.
Not just any country, however. Think about what a CEO does. He is totally in control of his company. He is free to do anything he wants to benefit himself and the other owners. Workers in his company have absolutely no right to any input into how the company is run, and he is free to eliminate them at any time he wants to.
In fact, a CEO is perfect to run a country. He is totally prepared to run a dictatorship. Maybe that is what the Republicans have wanted all along.
