Is There Any Point Where Enough is Enough?
I remember, not that long ago, in fact, just before Donald Trump emerged on the political scene, when it would be considered an act of the ultimate treachery for a previous President to publicly undercut the foreign diplomacy of a sitting President. This behavior was strictly forbidden, and both parties understood that politics had to end at our borders.
How Trump has changed things in the last eight years. Today, in the aftermath of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' stunning foreign policy victory in uniting numerous allies to force Vladimir Putin to release a number of hostages, here was Trump's response:
"Donald Trump Congratulates Vladimir Putin for Prisoner Exchange That Freed US Journalist...
At a Georgia rally on Saturday, Donald Trump delivered a congratulations to Russian leader Vladimir Putin following the prisoner exchange between Russia, the United States and several other nations earlier this week that saw the release of United States journalist Evan Gershkovich.
“By the way, I’d like to congratulate Vladimir Putin for having made yet another great deal,” Trump said, referencing the deal that brought home American hostages including Wall Street Journal reporter Gershkovich.
Let us be clear here. Do you ever remember ever hearing this?
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
Yes, those are the words of the Constitution of the United States. Is there any sane person who can deny that Trump's siding with Vladimir Putin constitutes "adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort" in its most literal, Constitutional form? This is treason.
Where is the outcry in the mainstream press about this monstrous outrage? Where are the calls for this open traitor to be thrown in prison, not allowed to run for public office? "Oh, it's just Trump being Trump..." And they are sure right about that. It is a traitor being a traitor, no more and no less.
Is there absolutely nothing that this disgusting monster can do that is low enough, treacherous enough to our country, that the mainstream press will cease doing the bidding of its billionaire owners and finally, after eight years, admit what this man is? Is there no point where Biden's stutter or Kamala's race are not far more disqualifying that Trump's open treason? At this point I would have to say, apparently not. Putin, in making this deal with Biden, seems to be showing that Trump's subhuman behavior is too much for even him to tolerate; I guess he is just a far greater friend of the American people than the New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN are these days.
