Translating Trump- California Drought Edition

Over the weekend, Donald Trump came out with one of the most amazingly brazen lies of his entire campaign so far:

"Donald Trump told voters in drought-plagued California on Friday that he had a solution to the water crisis: Open up the water for farmers, because “there is no drought.”

“We’re going to solve your water problem. You have a water problem that is so insane,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee told a crowd filled with farmers in Fresno. “It is so ridiculous where they’re taking the water and shoving it out to sea.”

“They don’t understand it,” Trump said. “There is no drought, they turn the water out into the ocean.”

Of course, no rational, decent person could possibly believe that, and in fact, neither do the people who support him.  Here, based on Green Eagle's decades-long experiencee at understanding what Conservatives are really saying, is a translation into plain English:

"We all know that California, as well as other parts of the world, are having absolutely unprecedented years-long droughts that show no sign of abating, and we all know damned well what is causing them, as well as the bizarre rainstorms and tornado swarms that have been hitting from Texas to New England the last few years.  Well, here is my promise to you:  I will never raise your taxes one dime to pay for this damage and the even worse weather that is to come.  I will do this by simply refusing to acknowledge that it is even happening, so you can go on hoarding whatever money you have, rather than having to spend it dealing with this problem.  Because, we all know that money is all you give a damn about, and you are going to cross your fingers and hope that things won't get really bad until you are gone; despite your big talk, you do not give one God damn about the fate of the country, or even about your own children and grandchildren, who we all know will have to go through hell because of your greed. But they can't vote, and they are not here now, so who cares, right?  Let's party on, and they can clean up the mess, if they survive."

Yeah, there is an almost inconceivable amount of hatred and violent anger swirling around the right these days, but never forget that the thing that really motivates Conservatives is greed.  Cut my taxes, that's all it's really about.  And Trump's pronouncements, which seem so irrational to the rest of us, are understood perfectly by the Republican base.

Forbes: “But Donald Trump Is Right About California Water -- The Problem Is The Price, Not The Drought ... Getting the price right will solve the problem.” ( - Tom Worstall, a Brit, stood for UKIP, a right-wing populist party, meaning not the actual conservative party because they’re semi-sane, but the radical right that wears nice suits).

Anyway, obviously a monetary value can make rain fall evenly. Just like prayer and pulling the hearts out of children to honour the Aztec god Tlaloc does.
We have droughts in Australia but we’re not allowed to do that sort of thing, and the price of water has no impact on rain. Dunno why. We’re just different I guess.

God is a good capitalist, you know, just like Trump, or the Saudis. When the price is right, he will turn on the supply.

As I said, the whole thing isn't about rainfall, it is about the promise to sabotage the future to make the U.S. population of greedy white racists a tiny bit richer at someone else's expense, always the promise, whether it's blacks, furriners, or their own children. I need hardly mention that the Republicans have been promising this for decades, without those benefits to their base of suckers ever turning up. They fall for it every time, and this does not seem to be the year they wise up.

Allegedly P.T. Barnum said it, but the (R)'s have been perfecting the proof of it...

It's more than lower taxes, it's wealth redistribution, from the rest of us to the rich. That is all that matters: Money for the rich. Everything else is just for show.

Joseph, I am not talking about what the rich sociopaths that control the Republican party are up to (I agree with you completely on that,) but rather what the suckers who vote Republican think they are going to get. So, I agree with you.

What the suckers think is that the Republicans are going to keep "them" down. What they don't realize is that "them" is not somebody else.

Mitch McChinless agrees and is assuring the Republican Partys owners that its going to be the same old same old.
