Today's Wingnut Wrapup is respectfully dedicated to Steven Joshua Dinkle, who was arrested with his mother for cross burning in black neighborhoods. Steven claims to be a former Exalted Cyclops of the Klan. Apparently, you can reach that position of great responsibility but still have to have mommy along to commit crimes. Here's Steven, giving what I assume is a secret Klan signal to his many followers:
Attractive, no? Really, it's not so different from the rest of the belligerent garbage that the right continually pumps out for the benefit of Green Eagle. Well, on with the idiocy.
The great Conservative outrage over the last few days may have escaped your attention. It's the current Obama Administration plot to attack the Catholic Church by closing our embassy to the Vatican! Here is a (very small) sample of the anger swirling around the wingnut world about this:
Washington Times: "Obama’s call to close Vatican embassy is ‘slap in the face’ to Roman Catholics"
Tim Cavanaugh, Daily Caller: "Catholics furious over Obama plan to close Vatican embassy site"
Pam Geller, Atlas Shrugs: "OBAMA ADMINISTRATION CLOSES AMERICAN EMBASSY TO THE VATICAN Wow. The same week that Obama gives the imprimatur of legitimacy to the Islamic rogue regime of Iran and sanctions their nuclear weapons program, he closes the American embassy to the Vatican.
Closing the Vatican, opening Iran. If there was a jihadi in the White House, what would he be doing differently?"
And it goes on and on. So, here's the great thing about this story: it isn't true. It is a made-up delusion from the right wingers. The administration is moving the embassy from a building which it has only occupied since the Clinton administration, to a new one, originally funded by the Bush Administration, with better security. But since when do facts matter when they get in the way of a good smear against Democrats? And by the way, while we are on the subject, why the hell do we have an "embassy" with the Vatican, which has filled the country with terrorists committing bestial acts against our children? Why isn't some lunatic right winger demanding that we bomb them?
John Ransom, Town Hall: "Obama's Amateur Incompetence-Iran is just the tip of the ice berg."
Because nothing spells failure like achieving a long-standing foreign policy goal without firing a shot.

For years, they've been nattering on about how Obamacare was going to destroy vast numbers of American jobs. Now they are down to claiming that Obamacare is causing less job growth than predicted (without, of course any facts to back up this claim, of course). Pretty soon they will be reduced to attacking Obamacare because it didn't precipitate the second coming of Jesus. Actually, they probably are doing that. I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Christine Rousselle, Town Hall: "Mike Tyson Says Obamacare Rollout "Horrible"
Oh my God, now they're reduced to quoting Mike Tyson. I wonder what Leon Spinks has to say?
