Guns and Dreamliners
Here's an editorial from the New York Times that conveniently sidesteps the truth:
"One of Connecticut’s gun manufacturers, PTR Industries, is departing the state in a melodramatic huff for gun-friendly South Carolina, complaining about the tightened gun safety laws enacted in Hartford by conscience-stricken legislators following the Newtown gun massacre of 20 children and 6 educators last December.
“One hundred percent of our product line is illegal in Connecticut,” explained John McNamara, the company’s vice president for sales. “They just want to collect our tax dollars on a product that they don’t think is safe to own.”
Now, let me state the obvious: This company is not moving because of gun laws. They are taking the opportunity to move to a "right to work" State, where they can pay their employees half what they had to in Connecticut, and are just thrilled to have an excuse to blame it on the government instead of the real culprit- their own greed.
This brought to mind a question I've had for some time, but which I've never seen anyone talk about in public. We all have seen articles about the trouble Boeing is having with its 787 Dreamliner passenger jet. I'm just curious- do you think that just might be because they dumped their experienced union workforce in Washington State, and moved to South Carolina, to hire a bunch of cheap, ignorant, inexperienced people to assemble the 787s?
Just wondering.

Firstly, people aren’t “stricken” with a conscience. It’s not like cholera.
Consciences are developed as people become mature and responsible adults. People who don’t possess them are clinically known as psychopaths. One killed a bunch of kids recently. We know you heard about that.
Secondly, what do you mean by “our” tax dollars..?
It’s not discretionary spending. Or an act of charity. You OWE that money. It’s not voluntary or conditional. Just pay it and STFU.
Thirdly, if people in Connecticut aren’t buying your goods that’s your problem as a business, not the populace’s problem as a non-customer. That’s how capitalism works. Or used to. No-one is obligated to buy your shit.
