Tea Party Failure Again

I have been on something of a crusade the last couple of years to demonstrate the effective nonexistence of the Tea Party as anything but a fiction created with money from the likes of Dick Armey and the Koch Brothers.

Here's another example:

"Americans For Prosperity, the Tea Party astroturf group “founded and funded by infamous GOP rainmakers Charles and David Koch, rolled into Jacksonville Tuesday, and only roughly 15 people showed up” to their “Running on Empty” tour. Florida director Slade O’Brien told Politijax the turnout was “shocking.” AFP’s tour is trying to convince Floridians to support increased offshore drilling in the wake of the BP disaster."

Still, the Tea Party- I mean to say, the small number of very rich people who fund the illusion of its existence- controls much of our national discourse, and has now apparently succeeded in bringing the nation's economy to a dead halt, while Congress and the President fight endlessly over how much the poor and middle class need to give up in order to subsidize the rich.

Update:  I just read that the next stop on their tour, at Orlando, drew 30 people. Just thought you'd like to know.

Interestingly the Orlando stop has been postponed until August 26th and will be held at the West Orange Country Club.
