Gog and Magog

Here are a couple of excerpts from an incredibly disturbing article at Alternet:

"President Bush spoke to France's President Jacques Chirac. Bush wove a story about how the Biblical creatures Gog and Magog were at work in the Middle East and how they must be defeated.

Chirac is said to have been stupefied and disturbed by Bush's invocation of Biblical prophesy to justify the war in Iraq and "wondered how someone could be so superficial and fanatical in their beliefs".

In the same year he spoke to Chirac, Bush had reportedly said to the Palestinian foreign minister that he was on "a mission from God" in launching the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and was receiving commands from the Lord."

Words fail me. It will be well worth your time to click on the link and read the whole article.

It is incredible how some people will believe anything when the name of God is invoked. It's also incredible that some people think they will be believed when they invoke the name of God. You seem to be a well rounded and well adjusted man GE. How do these nuts find each other. And how did they get one of them elected POTUS?

I have had an avid interest in fringe beliefs for decades now. Here is the number one thing I have learned. People believe lies primarily not because the lies are plausible, but because it suits their interest to believe. Consequently, there is no one easier to lie to than yourself, because there is no one with as much interest in believing your lies as you.
Of course, when you have organized forces backed with vast sums of money, which reach their tentacles out into every nook and cranny of our country, and when these groups exist to feed off of the needs of the hurting and the hopeless, it doesn't help. And who among us has not been hurting and hopeless at some time?

By the way, thanks for the compliment, but if GE were that well adjusted, he probably wouldn't be here venting his spleen all the time.

Bush thought he "was on a mission from God?"

He probably picked that up from watching 'The Blues Brothers' movie.
