Bill Kristol Speaks- We Laugh

Bill Kristol today in a column at the Weekly Standard:

"Souter may have been the worst Supreme Court justice ever appointed by a Republican president."

No, Bill, that would be Clarence Thomas. Unless some President in the nineteenth century managed to appoint an equally incompetent, lazy, ignorant, dishonest, bogus symbol of supposed Republican inclusiveness.

"...if the fundamental Republican task is to pick up seats in 2010 and replace Obama in 2012--as it must be, for the sake of the country--and if the fundamental conservative task is to present alternatives to Obama's governance, then this week's news is not all bad."

No, not all bad. After all, swine flu could have struck the real swines in our country. That would be a real blow for Republicans. By the way, notice how he says "this week's news is not all that bad," not "this week's news is not all that bad for Republicans." He can't tell the difference.

"With 60 Democrats in the Senate, it's Obama's Congress now. Republican obstructionism goes away as an issue and as a political talking point."

In your dreams, bucko. We're not letting go of that issue until you let go of your obstructionism. In other words, never.

"The Obama White House thinks it had a good week: Specter, Souter, and media fawning over the enchantment of Obama's first 100 days. But to us, this looks like irrational exuberance. This could prove the most bloated moment of the Obama bubble."

Delusional thinking at its finest, from the man who recently said that Americans' favorite choice for President in 2012 will be Dick Cheney.

Bill, there's a saying out in Hollywood: be nice to people on your way up, because you are going to meet them again on your way down. Maybe you should have thought of that. On the other hand, your way down seems to be going so fast that those second meetings are likely to be very short.
