Here is an example of this, from Jim Hoft at Gatewany Pundit, that would make any decent human being die of shame:
"If Saddam Was Still Alive Today…"
This picture of Saddam and Obama is, of course, a photoshopped phony, unlike the following picture, which is all too real:
Yes, that's Republican hero Donald Rumsfeld, serving under Republican God Ronald Reagan, doing pretty much exactly what Jim Hoft's phony picture pretends Obama would do. Could there possibly be a clearer demonstration of what these malicious traitors are up to when they attack Obama?
"The world's most high-profile climate change sceptic is to declare that global warming is "undoubtedly one of the chief concerns facing the world today" and "a challenge humanity must confront", in an apparent U-turn that will give a huge boost to the embattled environmental lobby.
Bjørn Lomborg, the self-styled "sceptical environmentalist"...is famous for attacking climate scientists, campaigners, the media and others for exaggerating the rate of global warming and its effects on humans, and the costly waste of policies to stop the problem.
But in a new book to be published next month, Lomborg will call for tens of billions of dollars a year to be invested in tackling climate change. "Investing $100bn annually would mean that we could essentially resolve the climate change problem by the end of this century," the book concludes."
What, conservatives are undoubtedly just going to ignore this? Well, I guess their payoffs from Exxon and the Hunt Brothers would end mighty fast if they started telling the truth. Better to let the human race die out in a couple of generations.

Let me remind you that the only count of the crowd that I have seen that was based on an actual scientific analysis of aerial photos was done by CBS news, and reached a figure of 87,000 attendees. Beck had confidently predicted over 300,000, and is claiming himself that the crowd could have been as large as 650,000.
Now, I don't believe that this consistent gross overestimating of the size of their rallies is an accident, or due to too much enthusiasm. I want to repeat a story, which I have told before, about about how we do things in the movie business.
Suppose we are going to film a scene that takes place at a baseball game. The stadium holds, say, 30 or 40,000 people. Do we fill the stadium up with fans in every seat? No, of course not. We get a couple thousand people, and move them around so they are in the shot wherever the camera is pointed. That's obviously a lot cheaper than filling the stadium, and to the person watching, it appears the same.
Well, that is pretty much what is going on with these rallies. Anyone who knows about Dick Armey's group, or who has heard about the recent New Yorker article about the Koch Brothers is well aware that these teabag rallies are not spontaneous events- they are created and promoted by people with a lot of money, in an effort to manipulate public opinion. Just like a film crew making a movie, they don't want to spend money on any more "extras" than they have to. It's cheaper to pay to get 80,000 people to Washington and just claim that a half million or a million showed up than it is to actually get that many people there. And if there is one thing people like the Koch brothers are it's cheap- at least when they are not spending the money on themselves.
So there you go. Very few people can tell how many attendees there are at one of these demonstrations, and so conservatives are able to create the illusion of a huge national movement out of a bunch of pathetic rallies that really demonstrate far more weakness than strength. But as long as they have the compliant mainstream media on their side, who's going to know, except the few people who actually care about the truth, and are therefore long past buying into Republican lies anyway?

" the doctrines which are used to comprise the political ideology of fascism often (involve) the notion that fascism itself is the rebirth of a state and/or empire in the image of that which came before it - thus, the ancestral political underpinnings...The best examples of this can be found with both Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany - Italy looking to establish a...line between the 20th century regime under Benito Mussolini as being the second incarnation of the Roman Empire, while Adolf Hitler's regime was seen as being the third...incarnation - beginning first with the Holy Roman Empire ("First Reich") then with Bismarck's German Empire ("Second Reich") and then resulting in Nazi Germany ("Third Reich")."
Sound familiar after this weekend's Glenn Beck rally to "restore America?"
Well, I am not going to discuss this concept in detail, but I would like to point out that it has a name:
The Gods are laughing at us.
"Fire at Tenn. Mosque Building Site Ruled Arson...Construction Equipment at Site of Planned Islamic Center Torched; Vocal Protests Against Mosque Have Been Ongoing...
The chair of the center's planning committee, Essim Fathy, said he drove to the site at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning after he was contacted by the sheriff's department. "Our people and community are so worried of what else can happen," said Fathy. "They are so scared."
Can anyone tell me how, in the face of incidents like this, Muslims are not supposed to view us as hostile, violent enemies? The people who are inciting behavior like this want a holy war and they are doing what they can to get it, for all of us. There are just not any words to describe how abominable the Republican party and its followers have become.
Saturday, August 28, 2010
I have, as yet, been unable to find any wide shots of the crowd, which was predicted to be around 300,000. Dave Niewert of Crooks and Liars estimates that 50 to 70,000 people showed up. We'll see
Just for your information, Glenn, here is what 300,000 people looks like:
Update: Well, CBS News commissioned a company to take aerial photos of the demonstration, and produce an attendance figure. Here's the article, together with a couple of photos. Their attendance number? 87,000. This would be commensurate with the 70,000 which they turned out last September, which the right wing media reported as up to two million. I think it is important to know things like this, because we need to understand whether the tea party "movement" is much more than a media fiction. Certainly, a turnout of 87,000 to see their two biggest stars, Glenn Beck and the Quitta from Wasilla, after weeks of intense publicity, is a pretty pathetic turnout.
Further Update: Here is a link to a post by one of the people who did the CBS analysis, providing more detail about it, if you are interested. Of course, this scientific analysis is being subjected to the same abuse from the right that all scientific analysis is. If I can stomach it, I'll include a sample in my next wingnut wrapup.
For those who don't know this, the number of Jews who were expelled from mideastern and north African countries, often in very hostile circumstances, was roughly the same as the number of Palestinians who lost their homes in Israel. We hear over and over again about an alleged "right of return" for those Palestinians and their descendants, but of course we all know that the notion of a right of return of Jews to Iraq or Syria or Libya or Yemen, where they would be subjected to merciless persecution, is ludicrous.
The Israelis took these people in, and their descendants are now fully integrated in Israeli life. If you have travelled in the middle east, you know that many Palestinians too have built new lives, but far too many languish in the most squalid of conditions, having received no assistance whatever from their fellow Arabs. If the question of what Israel must do to make these people whole is vital, I want to hear equal attention devoted to the issue of what Muslim countries could ever be expected to do to heal the damage they did to their minority populations.

"This isn’t intellectual conservatism, a la Bill Buckley, with a coherent world view and a philosophy that can be argued and defended. "
Sorry, Greg. The "conservatism" of Bill Buckley et. al. was promoted by a bunch of guys who went to Yale, and knew how to sound like Yalies when they pushed their agenda. That's the extent of intellectual content which their ideas had. Peel off the phony Yale accent, and underneath is the same old "everything for me, and let's find someone to hate" behavior that has been the Republican party's stock in trade since William Howard Taft took over from Teddy Roosevelt.

Well, Ken Mehlman has just announced that he is gay! Who knew?
In other news, Hank Aaron has finally confessed that, yes, he actually was once a professional baseball player.
"Dove World Outreach Pastor Terry Jones says that when his Gainesville, Florida church conducts it's plan burning of the Koran on 9/11, he and his flock will be protected by an "armed militia." Terry Jones has accepted the support of Right Wing Extreme, which he said offered to come to the church with between 500 and 2,000 men on September 11. He described the organization as an armed civilian militia group."
And nothing reminds us of doves more than 500 to 2000 armed religious lunatics.
"Right Wing Extreme founder Shannon Carson said: "We fully support Dove World Outreach Center and its efforts to put an end to the notion that Islam is a peaceful religion. Islam is a violent cult..."
Islam is a violent cult. We know this to be true because we have been told so by the leader of an armed Christian militia. Irony will never die. Nor stupidity or viciousness.
My prediction: These guys will be lucky if they turn out twenty guys with slingshots. I guess if evil is going to always be with us, we are better off if it's really stupid evil.
Wednesday, August 25, 2010
"When you count the people in the pews on Sunday rather than having a pollster ask whether or not they attend church, fewer than 18% attend church regularly. From 1980 to 2005 in the Southern Baptist Church, baptisms of people between eighteen and thirty four – in other words, their next generation of leaders – fell 40 percent, from 100,000 in 1980 to 60,000 in 2005...In 2006, the Southern Baptists – who claim almost six times more members than any other white evangelical church – made a concerted effort to baptize one million people. Not only did they fall over two-thirds short, they actually baptized even fewer than they had the year before.
You might think that some faith group must have grown during the last thirty years, and you’d be right: atheists and nonbelievers more than doubled in the eleven years between 1990 and 2001, from 14 million to 29 million: from 8% of the country to 14%. There are more than twice as many atheists and nonbelievers as there are evangelical Christians.
...to add insult to injury, when a sampling of non-Christians were asked to rate eleven groups in terms of respect, they rated evangelicals tenth. Only prostitutes ranked lower."
Two points that I would like to make about this- and they are both points that I have made before: First, there are a lot less people on their side of the fence than they (or our "mainstream" press) would like you to believe, and second, that their numbers are diminishing every year. In the long run, victory belongs to us, if they leave anything behind to win.
I was actually a little surprised that they aren't rising to the bait a little more, but on the other hand it is interesting to know that the Muslim world, allegedly violent and vicious beyond redemption, can show so much more restraint that our home-grown Christian Taliban.
"Is God trying to tell Obama something? Since Obama came to Washington DC, America has witnessed nature manifest itself on more than one occasion. Rodents scurry, flies swarm and a "ferocious blizzard'" sends snow-laden branches crashing onto a cavalcade of presidential SUVs.
From a biblical point of view, one would be hard pressed to deny that pestilence, "lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds" are doing someone's bidding, but that Someone does not appear to be President Obama."
Yes, indeed, the world has reached the point where even the wingnuts can't deny that something is wrong with our climate; but never let it be said that the world's scientists were right and Exxon was wrong- no, it can't be global warming. God did it, to punish Obama. Yeah, that's the story, God did it. Here's some of the incontestable proof:
"On Memorial Day Obama flouted tradition and chose Chicago over custom. America's high and mighty president flew home to the Windy City for the weekend. The plan: In lieu of Arlington National Cemetery, attend a perfunctory ceremony in Elwood, Illinois. The message: Obama acquiesces to no one.
As a result, an unambiguous message was sent to Barack. "He [who makes] darkness his covering...the dark rain clouds of the sky. Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning" and subsequently, Obama's premeditated arrangements were rained out."
Let's just leave out the fact that this guy was lying about the supposed "tradition" of the President going to Arlington, a "tradition" that was "flouted" by Bush and Reagan too. Just concentrate on the notion that God has nothing better to do than send hailstones and bolts of lightning crashing onto an entire city, because Obama chose to honor our veterans at the wrong cemetery. Yes indeed, that explanation is infinitely more believable than global warming. Enough with the quotes already, but it is apparently also a sign of God's wrath that it rained one day on Obama's vacation- something that would never happen in the normal course of events.
No word yet about the climate effects of Bush killing a million innocent civilians in Iraq, and destroying our economy. Apparently, that isn't enough to earn him a spring shower, or even some unusual low clouds. But then, we all know that God is a Republican.

Have you guys forgotten about the Supreme Court? Why should corporations give the money to the Republican party when they can now spend all they want on any kind of despicable smear, while leaving the Republican candidates able to totally deny any connection to the whole thing? Just wait until October- there will be more money on their side than you ever imagined, and it will be spent on things that are going to make even cynical observers like Green Eagle blanch.
This is the brave new world of Republican campaigning, brought to you by five corrupt Republican Supreme Court justices, placed on the court by corrupt Republican Presidents, aided by gutless Democrats. Thanks to all of you.
"Liberal?" What pinko commie scum said that? Barney Frank? Hitler? Oh, this guy. Never mind.
"The takeaway from the latest top gun flame-out at Hewlett-Packard: Chief executive ’success,’ in America today, essentially demands no more than greed and a developmentally arrested ego.
...corporate tall tales, unlike urban legends, actually make a difference in our lives. Corporate tall tales...drive these decisions in a reckless direction. And the most reckless of these drivers? That may be the tall tale of the “rare talent.” We’ve heard this whopper quite a bit over recent decades. Running a major corporation, we’re told, takes enormous — and exceedingly rare — executive talent. To get this top talent, and keep it, firms have no choice but to pay top dollar and then some."
In fact, all it seems to take is greed and a sociopathic personality. Once people like this claw their way to the top, they get a few years to plunder their companies before some person who is even greedier and more sociopathic pushes them off their mountain of dead bodies, and the game goes on. The rest of us, of course, are expected to pick up the tab.

"A friend poses the following: Imagine that there really were these fundamentalist Christian terror cells all over the United States, as the Department of Homeland Security imagines. Let’s say a group of five of these terrorists hijacked a plane, flew it to Mecca, and plowed it into the Kaaba."
Andy, I'm just not sure what you're suggesting here. The Kaaba is the most sacred site in all of Islam. The World Trade Center was two buildings full of investment bankers and stockbrokers. Are you really saying that investment brokers and stockbrokers are the most sacred thing in our world, the apotheosis of everything we worship and hold holy?
Actually, please don't answer that. I'm afraid you would agree.
"Michael Barone, Town Hall: "Stimulus and Health Care Have Democrats on Defensive"
Because it is always shameful to actually do something for the American people, rather than using our tax money for another giveaway to the rich. That makes sense, right?
Ann Coulter, Town Hall: "Liberals are constantly hectoring Americans to adopt Sweden's generous welfare policies without considering that one reason Sweden's welfare policies haven't bankrupted the country (yet) is that the Swedes don't grant citizenship to the children of any deadbeat who manages the spectacular feat of giving birth on Swedish soil. "
Well, actually, the Swedish have one of the most liberal policies on earth (surprise, surprise) on asylum seekers, and the country has a very high number of non-citizens living there. But how could we expect a right winger to actually know the truth about a foreign country?
Moe Lane, Red State: "As you might have gathered, there’s been a surge of Strange New Respect for George W Bush lately"
As you would really expect, no there hasn't. These guys are petrified about Bush's book coming out before the election, and apparently whatever they're taking for the anxiety is causing hallucinations.
Dave Poff, Red State: "CentCom is reporting that the last American combat brigade has left Iraq...Whatever might not be said in the days ahead, we owe these men and women a debt of gratitude we will never be able to fully repay."
We will never be able to repay our debt to our soldiers- particularly as long as Republicans keep blocking every veterans' bill, because they'd rather spend the money on rich people.
Confederate Yankee: "Thanks Democrats: Insurance Costs for Large Companies to Skyrocket Because of Obamacare"
How much chance of that happening if you guys had let us pass a public option, huh, idiot? Funny, how when the free market doesn't work out so well, it turns out to be all the Democrats' fault.
Roger L. Simon, Pajamas Media: "Investigate Me, Nancy! I have attacked the construction of the Ground Zero mosque, sometimes quite vehemently. I hereby humbly beseech you to investigate me."
No thanks. We just don't like looking too closely at animal waste.
Lady Liberty, Gateway Pundit: "It Begins… Obama Bans Gun Sales"
Well, all he banned was the sale of a particular batch of defective Korean War rifles. Boy, that's a crime, huh? Better to let you folks blow yourselves to smithereens with them, running around pretending that you are patriots.
On second thought, I may just agree with Lady Liberty on this one. Let the wingnuts have those guns.
Warner Todd Huston, Gateway Pundit: "Roosevelt constantly kept the nation agitated against “speculators,” even as he stole everyone’s gold and enriched his pals."
When did that happen? Too bad you couldn't have come up with an example or two...I mean, you've had eighty years to check it out.
Victor Sharpe, Renew America: "Do you know what a dhimmi is?"
No, Victor, but I think I know what a dhummy is.
Timothy Johnson, Daily Beast: "“If she chooses to run for President in 2012, she is going to have to answer to black Republicans,” Johnson says of Palin."
Black Republicans. All three of them.
Chris Banescu, American Thinker: "Economy Needs Heart Transplant, Obama Offering Band-Aid"
Republicans offer a new stab in the back.
Kevin D. Williamson, National Review: "This is not 1982, and Obama is not Reagan."
Thank the Lord Jesus. Say, Kevin what kind of news did you think that is anyway. We know Obama is not Reagan- he's Hitler, right?
Astute Bloggers: "We are at war with Islam because Mohamed declared war on us."
Muhammed died in 632. That was a little before the United States came along, O Astute ones, so forgive me if I have a doubt or two about the historical validity of your assertion. Not that I think you are a bunch of big fat liars or anything...okay, okay, I do think you are a bunch of big, fat liars. And bad liars too, pigs.
Erick Erickson, Red State: "You want to know why Barack Obama coming out for the Ground Zero mosque was such a bad idea? It has nothing whatsoever with whether Obama’s position was or was not correct."
Of course not. What does correctness or decency mean to you guys?
N. M. Guariglia, Pajamas Media: "The President Should Declare Victory in Iraq...Barack Obama should go to Baghdad at the end of this month and state that the seven-year conflict to free Iraq from tyranny has been won."
I've got an idea: Why don't you guys go and do that. You're so much better at telling lies than Obama could ever be.
Jim Hoft: "There was a protest today at Ground Zero against the proposed victory mosque...“As an out of work Union Carpenter, I’d rather starve than earn a bloody check from this job”
Fine, jerk, starve. Who cares?
Pat Boone, Renew America: "This isn't easy to write. It's not fun to say. It's virtually unthinkable to realize and acknowledge.
While the controversy still rises and rages on, around the proposed "Cordoba House" mosque and Muslim cultural center right on the edge of Ground Zero, where the World Trade Center stood till Sept. 11, 2001 – there is a world-famous building, dedicated by its current residents to similar purposes, in the middle of Washington, D.C.
We call it the White House. "
Actually, Pat, that was really easy for you to write and it was fun for you to say. That's because you are a treasonous liar.
World Net Daily: "Mystery solved! Why Americans think president is Muslim 'Obama bears the lion's share of the responsibility for any confusion'
Of course he does. Of course. Just like those million dead Iraquis- it was all their own fault for being born on top of lots of oil. And it's all the American workers' fault that they wanted more pay than people in China. And if we malicious malefactors hadn't been so corrupt as to put our money in banks, they wouldn't have been able to dump it all in the sewer. See, it's so easy to understand the world when you are a right winger.
"Modoc County-- A Lesson In Republican Extremism And Their Cult Of Freeloading "
Those who remember the brave new world being brought to us in Colorado Springs will find this tale quite familiar- another Republican crusade to reduce us all to third world peasants. I guess they will do it one county at a time if they can't do it all at once.

"Why the Republican Appeal to Fear Triumphs Over Reason and Enlightenment"
The article predictably theorizes about stress, fear and such factors. Can I be bold as to suggest a much simpler answer: Republicans have about a hundred times as much money to spend on their lies as we have to spend on the truth.
"You can argue that the peace process is the biggest threat to peace in Palestine."
How is our country ever going to survive?
This ignorant, hateful pig continues:
"Mr. Abbas wants East Jerusalem as the capitol of a Palestinian state. Mr. Netanyahu says Jerusalem is and will remain the undivided capitol of Israel. Mr. Netanyahu says a West Bank state -- a Palestinian state on the West Bank -- must be demilitarized, must be forbidden to have relations with Hamas, with Hezbollah and Iran. It must have on it an Israeli presence to make sure weapons do not come in the eastern border" he continued."
George, who gives a God damned what Netanyahu claims to believe, any more than we should have listened to what Dick Cheney or Karl Rove or Joe Lieberman claimed to believe eight years ago? Nietanyahu is a lying, violent right wing monster just like them, and as a strong supporter of Israel, who has lived there, I know that the sooner they rid themselves of Netanyahu the better off they will be.

Free enterprise, yeah! It's in the constitution! Somewhere... I think.

"The New York Times (among others) is reporting that a federal grand jury will soon hand down an indictment of baseball great Roger Clemens for lying to Congress during his 2008 testimony to the House Oversight Committee regarding steroids in baseball. The announcement could come later this afternoon."
Just tremendous news. I wonder how long it will be before indictments are handed down of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Colin Powell et. al. for lying to Congress in order to start a war of aggression.
Perhaps this is a peripheral question, but could anyone tell me how many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians died because of what Roger Clemens did, or how many trillions of dollars it cost us? It must have been really terrible because here it is, eight years later and Bush and company are still running free, whereas Roger Clemens is being charged only two years after his testimony.
This kind of disrespect for the Greatest Country on Earth is surely NOT TO BE TOLERATED! So Green Eagle has worked very hard to address this issue, by coming up on his own with a set of designs for our money which more adequately reflect true American values, and which certainly DO NOT feature any representation of the dreaded you-know-what:
I encourage you to click on my creative output, so you can see it larger, and decide for yourself whether these bills don't more fully portray our values as a nation. I just know that our right wing brethren will find these to be a truly inspired substitute for the evil, anti-American dollar bill suggestion that some traitorous company allowed to be in their contest.
"With 9.5 percent unemployment and millions more underemployed, it seems like a daunting, almost impossible, task to find jobs for everyone. But Ken Maryland, president of ClearView Economics, has an idea: Cut everyone's pay by 10 percent.
"EVERYBODY -- from the president down to the chambermaid -- takes a 10% cut in compensation," writes Maryland for Marketwatch. "This freed-up compensation expense is then used to re-employ the 8% (12.3 million) of the unemployed. Net-net, the nation's compensation bill has remained unchanged, and the unemployment rate is now 4.5%! Voila!"
And of course, the "freed up compensation" would be used to create more jobs, just the way that increasing corporate profits are being used for the same purpose now, right?
This may very well be the most preposterous new idea in Republican theft for the rich, since Milton Friedman came along. Is there anyone on earth who thinks that these people wouldn't take all of this money and keep it for themselves? When have they done anything else? And with the American people further impoverished by their pay cuts, who is going to buy the products produced by all of this extra labor? Or is this just a gigantic welfare scheme the scale and futility of which dwarfs the most absurd right wing claims about the stimulus?
Well, don't worry about that last idea. This proposal, if enacted, would just transfer an incomprehensible amount of money from working Americans to corporations and the rich, and everyone knows that perfectly well. But with large numbers of Americans trained to believe anything, no matter how stupid, as long as it's accompanied by large doses of hate and greed, who knows? A few months, and I expect to see Wolf Blitzer and Chris Matthews discussing this "idea" as though it is a perfectly reasonable proposal.
"But there’s one point that I haven’t seen made that I think is really worth reminding people of. Simply: This is an incredibly tolerant country and, it has shown remarkable tolerance since 9/11. There has been no “anti-Muslim” backlash."
Man, I've always said that there is no one easier to lie to than yourself, but considering the unbelievable damage that wingnut hatemongering is doing to our country, don't you think these people have some sort of a responsibility to be a little more honest with themselves?
And I mean particularly people like Jonah Goldberg, talentless assholes who are making a living out of all of this hate, rather than sweeping up at the homeless shelter, which Jonah would be doing if his filthy witch of a mother hadn't bought his job by stoking the worst side of the American character.

"Call centre workers are becoming as cheap to hire in the US as they are in India, according to the head of the country’s largest business process outsourcing company...
High unemployment levels have driven down wages for some low-skilled outsourcing services in some parts of the US...At the same time, wages in India’s outsourcing sector have risen by 10 per cent this year...Pramod Bhasin, the chief executive of Genpact, said his company expected to treble its workforce in the US over the next two years, from about 1,500 employees now."
Ah, the miracle of private enterprise. Our mighty business titans have finally found a way to bring jobs back home. Now that Americans are willing to work for less than people are getting in third world countries, we can have all the jobs we want. See, we didn't need any of that nasty government intervention. The Republicans were right all along- just starve us long enough and we'll do anything they tell us to.
The greatest country on earth, yes sir! Why, another spell of Republican rule, and Americans will be heading south for career opportunities as gardeners in Mexico.
Walter Williams, Town Hall: "Will Republicans Save Us?"
Don't bet on it, Walt. Unless, by "us" you mean really rich guys.
Erick Erickson, Red State: "The Democrats’ Disaster: More Americans Question Barack Obama’s Birth Story Than Support the Ground Zero Mosque"
And I guess you are really proud of yourself and your associates for getting them to believe that. And this guy was recently hired by CNN as a commenter. Our liberal media at work.
Art Horn, Pajamas Media: "NOAA and GISS claim a warm Arctic region made this June a record-breaker. They don't have a single thermometer in the Arctic!"
Art...no, wait. Forget it. No one can get through to someone this stupid.
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Ambassador John Bolton: Israel Has 8 Day Deadline to Attack Iran"
What, or else John Bolton is going to throw a tantrum? Listen, who would listen to a guy with the dumbest mustache since Hitler?
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Ahmadinejad’s Ramadan Wish: Victory of Muslim Faithful Over Enemies"
Now, that is abominable. None of Jim's "Christian" friends would ever wish for their victory over enemies.
Kathleen Parker, Newsmax: "It is generally true that you get what you pay for, but not necessarily when it comes to higher education. A new study scheduled for release Monday about the value of a college education, at least when it comes to the basics, has found the opposite to be true in most cases. Forget Harvard and think Lamar. Indeed, the Texas university, where tuition runs about $7,000 per year (compared to Harvard's $38,000), earns an "A" to Harvard's "D" based on an analysis of the universities' commitment to core subjects deemed essential to a well-rounded, competitive education."
"Forget Harvard and think Lamar." You do that, Kathleen. I'm sure it will work out really well for you. By the way, in case you're wondering, this survey was conducted by a "foundation" started by (among others) Lynne Cheney and Joe Lieberman. Just thought you'd like to know.
Kathleen Parker, Newsmax: "Olive Street Embodies Sarah Palin's Small-Town Values...I’ve given this a lot of thought. Despite all my implicit exposure to small-town values, I never really understood what they were until I moved to Olive Street, a three-block-long street in the nation’s capital."
Oh, I see...that small town. Washington D.C. You didn't understand small town values until you experienced them in Washington D.C. Have you the faintest clue how stupid you just made yourself sound?
Alan Caruba, Renew America: "Obama is America's new Jim Jones...Allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire will raise taxes across the board at the worst possible time in the midst of a major recession. This isn't delusional, it's intentional. It is Barack Obama's Kool-Aid for America."
Well, let's just add Jim Jones to Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Robert Mugabe, Satan, and who knows who else, as a historical figure exactly like Obama. Because it is obviously just like mass murder to raise taxes on the rich.
Frank Maguire, Renew America: "Progressivist collectivism: the "socialist" manifestations of statist planning (Part IV)"
God, I am never going to read that article. Life's too short.
American Digest: "Even though the automobile population of Los Angeles has quintupled since my childhood, a great deal of progress has been made in smog control and reduction. Compared to my childhood, the air of Los Angeles is now pure and pristine. Alas, to Progressives, this progress is no progress; any improvement shy of perfection is no improvement at all. Automobiles remain. Pollution remains. Los Angeles remains. Curses, foiled again!"
Of course, it was progressives who campaigned for decades to get those smog controls enacted, opposed every step of the way by people like you. But let's just not think about that, okay?
Chuck Norris, Town Hall: "President Obama: Muslim Missionary?"
I don't think so, Chuck. Listen, while we're on the subject, maybe you should try to learn something about Muslims before you shoot your mouth off about them. See, Muslims don't really have missionaries. That's one reason I'm pretty sure Obama isn't one; the other reason being that I am not a brain dead, racist ass.
Joseph Farah, World Net Daily: "Glenn Beck may hate socialism and communism, but he shares a materialistic worldview with Marx, Engels and Saul Alinksy"
Oy. Now Glenn Beck is a communist too. It just isn't a good idea to cross these people.
Can I remind you that World Net Daily is the second most read political website in the country? Whoops, I shouldn't have done that while you were eating. Anyone here know the Heimlich maneuver?
Sher Zieve, Renew America: "ObamaGov establishing Islam as official USA state religion...Why do I make these claims?"
Because you are a stupid and very evil liar? Because Space Monkeys are controlling your brain from the planet ZZoxon? Because someone who is even stupider than you is paying you to write things like this? Those are the answers that spring to my mind.
Victor Volsky, American Thinker: "Mindless sycophancy of Obama groupies aside, what gives his admirers the reason to believe in the incomparable intellectual faculties of their idol? "
Oh, I don't know, Victor. What gave you guys the reason to believe that George Bush could tie his own shoelaces?
Judie Brown, Renew America: "God is laughing! Why aren't you?"
I am, Judy. At you.
"BENNETT: Oh, you mean Iraq? Well, that is going nifty, as a matter of fact. That is a blessing for the people of Iraq."
"Within the past week, complaints dribbling out of Petraeus’s headquarters in Kabul—duly reported by an accommodating press—indicate growing military unhappiness with the July 2011 pullout date. Now, Petraeus himself has begun to weigh in directly. This past weekend, he launched his own media campaign, offering his “narrative” of ongoing events. Unlike the ham-handed McChrystal, who chose a foreign capital as his soapbox, Petraeus sat for a carefully orchestrated series of interviews with The New York Times, The Washington Post, and NBC’s “Meet the Press,” each of which gratefully passed along the general’s view of things."
This guy has been a bootlicker of the right since the day he first appeared on the national scene. Sorry, Barack, you screwed up when you picked him. He was bound to end up stabbing you in the back, and like some military Newt Gingrich, he doesn't even have the decency to wait until the ink is dry on the marriage license before doing whatever he can to get his piggish way.
You think the McChrystal affair caused you a hard time? Well, now you are stuck with one of the right wing's favorite phony heroes, and they are going to scream bloody murder unless you give up the notion of civilian control of the military right quick. What's worse is that Petraeus isn't even a great general like MacArthur or Patton- he's just another warmongering hack who, despite all his years in the military, doesn't get it at all. Good Luck with him; you're going to need it.

"...what’s the point of doing the right thing if your party is going to lose seats because of it?"
Boy, that pretty much sums things up, doesn't it? Isn't it ironic that they have convinced themselves and a lot of others that they are the noble, moral people in our country?
Monday, August 16, 2010
The reason I bring this up is to point out a perfect example of a phenomenon that I have talked about a number of times. Here we have ideas that should be as tolerable to decent Americans as the writings of Hitler, and yet the conservative machine is walking them step by step into common discourse, so that now these hateful views can be spoken aloud by the likes of Newt Gingrich, Peter King, Tim Pawlenty and other elected Republican officials.
It is frightening how the Republican party has perfected the art of making the most disgusting views acceptable to large numbers of people, and how easily they are able to induce Americans to indulge in orgies of hatred. Having followed these people for decades, I am stunned by the momentum they have generated, and by the willingness of people in the teabag movement and in the Republican party to openly advocate things that should fill them with shame and self-loathing; and their willingness to embrace people like Pam Geller, who are truly Hitlerian, in their hearts if not in their effect.
"The Supreme Court has upheld a $20,000 fine against a leader of the movement challenging President Barack Obama's citizenship."
A writer at Orly's website:
"It is a real shame to see that our nation has come to the point with the BS/BO Administration that people do not feel free enough to send a contribution to Dr. Taitz due to fearing retaliation from usurper. This is not the first time that people have been terrorized by a dictatorial ruler, but it is the first time it has happened here in the USA!!"
Really. Personally, I think people didn't send Orly a contribution due to fear of waking up the next morning and realizing it was the stupidest waste of money in their lives.
But wait, there's More! From Orly:
"great Idea from reader Laura, we need a pig head at the site of the proposed mosque"
Good thinking, Orly. A pig head. How about yours?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Confidence in State-Run Media Continues to Slide"
State run media, huh? Would that be ABC, owned by Disney, or NBC, owned by General Electric? Or CBS, owned by Viacom? Or CNN, owned by Time Warner? Can't you guys even try to tell a believable lie any more?
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Obama Lectures America Over Ground Zero Mosque Plans"
Reminding us that we believe in religious freedom in this country. Or at least some of us do.
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "The Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus."
The real Socialist Party of America disbanded in 1972. I can find no information about this current alleged group except their "press release" being featured on several right wing blogs.
One more lie from our Republican friends.
Town Hall: "Black Man Murders 8 Whites, Media Blame Whites"
Well, of course that is a lie too, at least the "media blames whites" part. Needless to say, they couldn't produce a single example to back up their smear.
Michelle Malkin, Town Hall: "Have you heard of the "Great Outdoors Initiative"?...across the country, White House officials have been meeting quietly with environmental groups to map out government plans for acquiring untold millions of acres of both public and private land. It's another stealthy power grab through executive order that promises to radically transform the American way of life. "
By preserving wilderness for our enjoyment, rather than just let corporations rape it and leave it useless.
Town Hall: "GOP senator suggests mosque will be election issue"
And it will be, if they can make it one, instead of the issues which really affect our lives, all of which would lead a rational person to vote Democratic.
Doug Giles, Town Hall: "Now I Know Why Brad Dumped Aniston for Angie "
Doug Giles is, in case you'd forgotten, the guy whose credentials for Republican leadership consist of his ability to pass himself off as a pimp.
Doug, now you know? Now you know why someone would dump their girlfriend for Angelina Jolie? What are you, a eunuch?
Vladimir, Red State: "Is the Islamic community within its rights to build a mosque near Ground Zero? Probably so. But is justice served when we focus on rights?"
Is justice served when we focus on rights? Why no, of course not, Vladimir. So lets start, say, by taking away your right to own a gun. How about that? Does that work for you?
Leon De Winter, Pajamas Media: "A Mosque in New York for a Christian Church in Mecca...A way for those behind the Ground Zero mosque to show "mutual recognition and respect."
Because Muslims are scum, and the only decent Christian response is to act just like them.
Alan Caruba, Renew America: "The first un-American president..."As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country." — Barack Hussein Obama"
What a traitor. Hasn't anyone pointed out to him that the first amendment only applies to CHRISTIANS?
Neil Bryan Goldberg, Renew America: "Barry Soetoro, posing as an American President, just proposed surrender to the psychological and metaphysical act of war against America, in the form of a giant 9/11 Mosque, where huge loudspeakers — five times a day, would proclaim victory of Islam over freedom. Step down Mr. Soetoro, step away from the desk, step out of the Oval Office, and out of our White House. You are not an American President, you are loyal to, and serving foreign powers. Take your dagger from our back, and step away."
Who cares if you were elected by a strong margin. You're BLACK, and so you have no right to uphold the constitution.
Star Parker, World Net Daily: "How, in these tough times, do Democrats who control Congress decide who'll get funded and who will not? This is the latest example, particularly illustrative, showing that Washington is less and less about ideas and values, and more and more about interests, power and money."
And what is Star railing against here? Giveaways to Wall Street? More tax cuts for the rich? No, money voted for food stamps. Yes indeedy, the truly powerful and rich interests in America- food stamp recipients.
Thanks for enlightening us, Star.
Russ Vaughn, American Thinker: "Could Jews Be the Saviors of America? Will Obama's mosque support finally wake up the Jewish community to the idea they are backing the wrong horse?"
No, Russ, you vicious dick. Jews are already awake- to what happens when the majority forbids people to practice their religion. Get what I'm saying here? Here's a hint: Germany, 1937.
Charles Blow, New York Times: "Maybe we should just let the children run the country, at least until the recession is over. They appear to be the only people not bubbling over with anger, anxiety and frustration. "
Man, you must have never had teenagers.
Gallup: "Americans continue to express near-record-low confidence in newspapers and television news"
I wonder why that might be.

For those of you who weren't around at the time, or have forgotten, David Stockman was President Ronald Reagan's budget director, and he was a major participant in the Republican plot to convince the American people to believe in the absurd theory of "trickle-down economics," the idea that if we just give the rich lots more money that it was going to somehow make the rest of us richer too.
This is not the first time that Stockman has lifted the curtain on this cruel deception, which we are all now paying for. In the mid-nineties, in the introduction to the second edition of his memoirs, he admitted that none of the participants in that plan, from Reagan on down, regarded it as anything but a hoax. Now (a couple of decades too late) he's totally ripped the curtain off of the sham that is Conservative economic doctrine, and I believe every American needs to hear what he has to say. So, here we go:
"IF there were such a thing as Chapter 11 for politicians, the Republican push to extend the unaffordable Bush tax cuts would amount to a bankruptcy filing...It is therefore unseemly for the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, to insist that the nation’s wealthiest taxpayers be spared even a three-percentage-point rate increase.
Mr. McConnell’s stand puts the lie to the Republican pretense that its new monetarist and supply-side doctrines are rooted in its traditional financial philosophy. Republicans used to believe that prosperity depended upon the regular balancing of accounts — in government, in international trade, on the ledgers of central banks and in the financial affairs of private households and businesses, too. But the new catechism, as practiced by Republican policymakers for decades now, has amounted to little more than money printing and deficit finance..."
Let me break in here to point out that, of course, anyone who knows anything about the Republican runup to the Great Depression is aware that, although Republicans have always claimed to believe that " Republicans used to believe that prosperity depended upon the regular balancing of accounts," in fact they never believed any such thing. Well, let's continue:
"This approach has not simply made a mockery of traditional party ideals. It has also led to the serial financial bubbles and Wall Street depredations that have crippled our economy...Now, since we have lived beyond our means as a nation for nearly 40 years, our cumulative current-account deficit — the combined shortfall on our trade in goods, services and income — has reached nearly $8 trillion. That’s borrowed prosperity on an epic scale.
It is also an outcome that Milton Friedman said could never happen when, in 1971, he persuaded President Nixon to unleash on the world paper dollars no longer redeemable in gold or other fixed monetary reserves. Just let the free market set currency exchange rates, he said, and trade deficits will self-correct."
Anyone foolish enough to ever again refer positively to this voodoo economics should be forced to read Stockman's confession about a thousand times.
"... now there is no discipline, only global monetary chaos as foreign central banks run their own printing presses at ever faster speeds to sop up the tidal wave of dollars coming from the Federal Reserve.
The second unhappy change in the American economy has been the extraordinary growth of our public debt... This debt explosion has resulted not from big spending by the Democrats, but instead the Republican Party’s embrace, about three decades ago, of the insidious doctrine that deficits don’t matter if they result from tax cuts."
(bolding mine) or more simply put, deficits don't matter when they result from Repeublican theft of our national wealth.
"But in the end it was a new cadre of ideological tax-cutters who killed the Republicans’ fiscal religion."
Stockman conveniently forgets Harding and Hoover cutting the tax rate on the rich to one third of its previous rate, thus creating the financial bubble whose bursting brought on the depression. "Ideological tax cuts" have always been a part of the poison conservative economic brew that has done so much damage to our country.
"It may be true that governments, because they intervene in foreign exchange markets, have never completely allowed their currencies to float freely. But that does not absolve Friedman’s $8 trillion error. Once relieved of the discipline of defending a fixed value for their currencies, politicians the world over were free to cheapen their money and disregard their neighbors."
The apotheosis of the "I've got mine-screw you" attitude that has become known as "Reaganomics."
"... when, in the following years, the Federal Reserve chairman, Paul Volcker, finally crushed inflation, enabling a solid economic rebound, the new tax-cutters not only claimed victory for their supply-side strategy but hooked Republicans for good on the delusion that the economy will outgrow the deficit if plied with enough tax cuts."
i.e. spread the grand Republican lie.
"By fiscal year 2009, the tax-cutters had reduced federal revenues to 15 percent of gross domestic product, lower than they had been since the 1940s. Then, after rarely vetoing a budget bill and engaging in two unfinanced foreign military adventures, George W. Bush surrendered on domestic spending cuts, too — signing into law $420 billion in non-defense appropriations, a 65 percent gain from the $260 billion he had inherited eight years earlier. Republicans thus joined the Democrats in a shameless embrace of a free-lunch fiscal policy."
Of course, the Democratic president who Bush "joined" had turned a gigantic Republican budget deficit into a large Democratic surplus, so I'm not sure who Stockman is talking about here, but then, you can't expect the whole truth from a Republican, can you?
"The third ominous change in the American economy has been the vast, unproductive expansion of our financial sector. Here, Republicans have been oblivious to the grave danger of flooding financial markets with freely printed money and, at the same time, removing traditional restrictions on leverage and speculation."
Again, the exact behavior of Harding, Coolidge and Hoover in the 1920's.
"But the trillion-dollar conglomerates that inhabit this new financial world are not free enterprises. They are rather wards of the state, extracting billions from the economy with a lot of pointless speculation in stocks, bonds, commodities and derivatives. They could never have survived, much less thrived, if their deposits had not been government-guaranteed and if they hadn’t been able to obtain virtually free money from the Fed’s discount window to cover their bad bets.
The fourth destructive change has been the hollowing out of the larger American economy. Having lived beyond our means for decades by borrowing heavily from abroad, we have steadily sent jobs and production offshore.
It is not surprising, then, that during the last bubble (from 2002 to 2006) the top 1 percent of Americans — paid mainly from the Wall Street casino — received two-thirds of the gain in national income, while the bottom 90 percent — mainly dependent on Main Street’s shrinking economy — got only 12 percent. This growing wealth gap is not the market’s fault. It’s the decaying fruit of bad economic policy."
Bad Republican economic policy.
"The day of national reckoning has arrived. We will not have a conventional business recovery now, but rather a long hangover of debt liquidation and downsizing...it’s a pity that the modern Republican Party offers the American people an irrelevant platform...when the old approach — balanced budgets, sound money and financial discipline — is needed more than ever."
Well, Stockman has to end with a prayer to his old God, but still, there is more truth here than you will hear from anyone short of Paul Krugman these days. So it turns out that our current economic disaster was not caused by a thirty year old Democratic law making banks lend fairly to minorities, nor by a secret Obama Communist plot. It was caused by what anyone watching should have seen: Republican lies, greed and theft, period.
Of course, being the truth, this article will be immediately forgotten by our political and journalistic class. Well, that way, we can have another depression really soon, and maybe we can all live to see the end of the United States of America, killed by "patriots."
Friday, August 13, 2010
Man, I am so in there with you! I don't want a baby-murdering Muslim for my president either. Who are you talking about, and is he (or she- maybe it's Sarah Palin) really running?
Let's start with this cheery report, from the New York Times:
"KABUL, Afghanistan — An ambitious military operation that Afghan officials had expected to be a sign of their growing military capacity instead turned into an embarrassment, with Taliban fighters battering an Afghan battalion in a remote eastern area until NATO sent in French and American rescue teams. "
It has been obvious as anything on earth that the "war" in Afghanistan is lost, and has been since Bush and Cheney took their eyes off the ball to go fight in a country with oil. Obama should have pulled out the day he was inaugurated, no matter how much Republican abuse resulted. Now, he is stuck in the tar too, with no cogent strategy to bring any sort of good end to this sorry spectacle.
Now, shall we all just move on to the latest tale of Green Eagle's favorite wingnut, Orly Taitz?
"Birther queen Orly Taitz has spent the better part of a year fighting a $20,000 fine slapped on her by a federal judge for filing frivolous birther lawsuits contesting President Obama's eligility to hold the office. A few weeks ago, she applied to the Supreme Court to reverse the fine.
When Justice Clarence Thomas denied her application, she vowed to apply to each of the other justices in turn. The next justice she applied to was Samuel Alito, who has now referred the matter to the to the entire court."
Yes, the corrupt filth, Alito, has actually gone where even Clarence Thomas wasn't stupid and dishonest enough to tread, and given Orly a gigantic, permanent vote of credibility from the United States Supreme Court. The Republicans are allowed to throw massive temper tantrums when a Democratic President nominates even a very moderate Supreme Court Justice like Sotomayor or Kagan, but the Democrats in the Senate are too lacking in any shred of self respect to protest when Republican presidents nominate an endless series of criminal stooges of the rich, in order to turn the court into nothing but an enabler of the worst greed and hate in our country. And this behavior, which shames every one of us, is the result.
While we are on the subject of our judicial system, how about this news from Guantanamo?
"In May hearings, a man identified as Interrogator 1 said in testimony that he threatened Mr. Khadr with being gang-raped to death if he did not co-operate...the prosecution countered: “This evidence was voluntarily given,” said prosecutor and U.S. Air Force Captain Christopher Eason....Military judge Colonel Patrick Parrish sided with the prosecution. “The government has met its burden,” he said. “The motion to suppress the accused’s statements is denied.”
Now, doesn't that make you proud to be from America, the home of the greatest justice system on earth (along with the greatest everything else)? Liberty and justice for all...
And let me leave you with this reminder:
"World feeling the heat as 17 countries experience record temperatures...2010 sees record highs in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine but also many African, Middle Eastern and Latin American countries"
Boy, those evil climate scientists will do anything to make their global warming scam look real, huh?
And finally, a left wing falsehood, from Buzzflash:
"Truthout Becomes the First Progressive Unionized Website. BuzzFlash is Proud to be Part of a Unionized Online Community!"
How can you guys say that? The entire staff of Green Eagle (that would be Green Eagle himself) are proud members of IATSE local 800! So there! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Buzzflash guys.
First, this one from Ezra Klein, at the Washington Post:
This chart compares Obama's proposed tax policy with that of Bush and the Republicans. As you can see, they are nearly identical until you get to those earning $500,000 a year or more. For those taxpayers, the Republican plan gives vastly larger tax cuts, particularly to those who earn over a million a year, who get a tax cut approximately sixteen times larger under Republicans. Well, there you see it. I don't think this chart needs much explanation.
The next chart is from Bob Cesca:
Mr. Cesca's comment:
"On the left, job losses from December 2007 through July 2009 (the earliest President Obama's policies could actually have an impact on the economy). On the right, job losses since July 2009. Around 41,000 compared with the Bush administration's job losses numbering 7,796,000."
There you go. You sure wouldn't know that from perusing the mainstream press, and yet this is all it takes to make the truth clear. By the way, a number of right wing websites lately have been claiming that Obama has the worst jobs record of any president in history. And of course, their "opinion" is given tremendous weight by the media, while things like this are totally covered up.
This is why my hope for the survival of our country is fast dwindling.

"Homeless Eating Pets And Small Children to Survive
The United States is not experiencing a famine but millions of homeless families are facing starvation as they fight to survive on the streets. The mental stress of losing their home in the financial collapse and lack of functional street skills is forcing many to find easy access meals for their family. A small dog in the backyard or an unwatched child playing near the street are easy targets for the desperate and hungry.
A whole family of apparent cannibals has been found living near the south side zoo in Des Moines, IA. From what’s been reported the 3 adults, 2 teens and 4 very young children were taken into custody after a teacher on a field trip to the zoo reported a missing child around 1 pm. Tuesday afternoon leading to a search of the area. Unfortunately they were too late to save the missing 4 year old.
It’s being reported that the child was deceased and had been partially consumed by the group before police discovered the scene late in the evening Tuesday."
Needless to say, as far as I can tell, this incident, if it happened at all, occurred in another city named Des Moines IA, on another planet; but still, you never know...
Survivalist News concludes their article with this highly useful suggestion:
"Cannibalism should not be considered a reliable protein source in post collapse America or a replacement for reliable food storage."
Really, where would we be without people like this to help us make our plans for the future?
"The GOP has a HUGE generic-ballot edge in the South (52%-31%), but it doesn’t lead anywhere else. In the Northeast, Dems have a 55%-30% edge; in the Midwest, they lead 49%-38%; and in the West, it’s 44%-43%. Yet do keep this caveat in mind: Many of the congressional districts Republicans are targeting outside of the South resemble some of those Southern districts they’re hoping to win back in November -- where you have whiter and older voters."
What a great country this could be, if the Southern states were not part of it. Too bad we didn't let them go when we had the chance. Of course, then we would have a gigantic problem with illegal immigrants trying to cross the border to escape their hopeless life of poverty and squalor in the Confederate States of America, and we would probably need to amend the constitution to prevent pregnant white southerners from coming up here to have their babies.
And as for those whiter and older voters- at least every year there are less of them; a hopeful thing when you consider that white people appear to be by far the dumbest ethnic group in the country.
By the way, isn't it funny that the Republican edge in the South, at 21 points is described as HUGE, but no conclusion is drawn about the Democrats' 25 point lead in the Northeast, which is apparently nowhere near as great. Our mainstream press- apparently they can't even count to 100.
Jonah Goldberg, Town Hall: " Whenever conservatives propose a constitutional amendment, progressives suddenly rediscover the delicate gears of the Constitution and the horrible dangers of "tinkering" or "tampering" with its precision craftsmanship."
"Tinkering," in this case, being a synonym for turning the country into a fascist dictatorship. Only a bunch of namby-pamby liberals would be against that.
John Stossel, Town Hall: "Memo to Alan Greenspan: Keep Quiet...I'm getting tired of Alan Greenspan. First, the former Federal Reserve chairman blamed an allegedly unregulated free market for the housing and financial debacle. Now he favors repealing the Bush-era tax cuts."
You loved him when he was helping you destroy the economy. But let him tell the truth for once in his life and all of a sudden it's time for him to SHUT HIS MOUTH! Well, what else would we expect?
Martin Knight, Red State: "Progressive *snicker* Brilliance: Burn A Confederate Flag At A Tea Party...According to progressive author Evan McMorris-Santoro, an expert on Tea Partiers..." the idea seems sure to at least ruffle some tea party feathers.”
It's bound to ruffle a lot of teabagger feathers- after all, what right do we have to cast disgrace on a country that waged a vicious, traitorous war against the United States?
Confederate Yankee: "There is one reason to prevent the construction of this mosque that is compelling and self evident. It is the only reason we need: We should prevent it because they want it."
How about if we prevent you from breathing, just because you want to, Mr. Yankee?
Roger L. Simon, Pajamas Media: "Will our country return to its founding principles, or continue morphing into Sweden without meatballs or France without croissants?"
I'll take France, but only with the croissants. Think we could reach an agreement on that?
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "As Michelle Returns From Spanish Extravaganza Obama Cuts Food Stamps to Nation’s Poor"
And why did he do that, huh, Mr. Pundit? It couldn't happen to be because a certain other political party has decided to filibuster to death every effort he makes to help normal people, could it? No, it's just because he's mean, unlike Republicans, who would like nothing better than to spend more money on food stamps, instead of tax cuts for the rich, right?
Lady Liberty, Gateway Pundit: "A Gay Muslim Bar Next To WTC Mosque? Greg Gutfeld Vows To Make It Happen"
Listen, you ignorant dick, devout Muslims don't drink alcohol. So I'm afraid your gay Muslim bar won't really do that well. But it's a nice thought. If you like hating people.
American Thinker: "You don't want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs:" Netanyahu"
Well, I agree with you there. That's why I don't want any of you Evangelical Christians winning elections any more.
Tom O'Toole, Renew America: "what [the hell] happened to Notre Dame?...Charles E. Rice's What Happened to Notre Dame? is a pull-no-punches account of the Notre Dame-Obama fiasco..."
Can you believe this? These guys are still furious because Notre Dame invited Obama to make a speech there about a year and a half ago. Yeah, that sure was a "fiasco." Except that no one on earth but you wankers remembers it.
Jerome Corsi, World Net Daily: "It's official! Social Security now bankrupt...Social Security is in the red for the first time since the program was overhauled in 1983"
"In the red" meaning that it is paying out more than it's taking in now- just as it was intended to do when the baby boomers retired. That was part of the plan, and that's why the social security fund has enough money to last decades, until the baby boomers are gone. That's not bankruptcy, it's planning for the future. And it will work just great if we can stop Republicans from stealing all the money, like Reagan did.
World Net Daily: "Democrats using jobs bill as 'big photo op'
How dare they actually go in public and publicize the fact that they won a big victory for working people? Have they no shame?
Jackie Gingrich Cushman, Town Hall: "A Bold Spirit of Adventure"
How about this bold spirit of adventure for you, Jackie: How about if you get a job that didn't exist only because of your connection with your corrupt brother?
Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Unreal. Barack Obama “May Be Prepared to Meet Iranian President”
Jim, how can I explain this to you...That's what presidents are supposed to do- meet with other world leaders. That's his job.
Lady Liberty, Gateway Pundit: "US Schools to Stop Teaching History; Instead Teachers Will Now Bash “Anglos” and Praise Islam & Castro"
Sure, Ms. Liberty. Running short of lies this week, huh? Seems like you're having to get down to the really pathetic ones these days.
Bryan Fischer, Renew America: "No more mosques, period...Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government."
Well, I think that might be a good reason to start tearing down Evangelical "Christian" churches all around the country, too. Because, you know, you guys seem to be dedicated to overthrowing the American government also. How about that, buster?
And what would the day be without a visit to our friend Henry Makow?
Henry Makow: "Why are Feminists Surprised Their Daughters are Sluts? Who taught girls they could have sex outside of the context of courtship, love and marriage? "
"Who taught girls they could have sex outside of the context of courtship, love and marriage? " Listen, Henry, how stupid do you think girls are? As far as I can tell, most of them manage to figure that out on their own, with a little help from their boyfriends. Really, are you that ignorant about teenagers?
I am very careful to maintain antivirus and antispyware protection on my computer, so whoever has done this is both sophisticated and determined. I am doing everything I can to terminate this problem, and I just want you to know that I would never send spam e-mail to anyone; so please delete any alleged communications you get from me, unless you are sure they are really from me.

"The only successful monkey artisans are to be found promoting a dark nihilistic culture of addictive substances and degradation. It is very unlikely that monkeys would be permitted access to the ladders of Classical Culture and the Fine Arts"
I promise you that I will be carefully examining this startling insight to discover what we can learn about our plight in the world today.
UPDATE! The revelations are coming fast now!
"Make no mistake - the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion were written by reptoids, but not by any definition of Jew that resides in the public/monkey domain...There is no end to the slaughter that will be perpetrated by the reptoids in the name of culling the hated herd of monkeys."
Now I'm starting to see where this new knowledge is going to lead us. Isn't this productive?
"weekly unemployment claims data in the mining industry sector, which comprises primarily oil- and gas-related jobs, have shown no noticeable spike since the moratorium was declared May 28. Overall employment data in coastal parishes also show little change since the drilling ban."
So, once again, the Republican party has managed to gin up a whole mess of outrage about nothing. In the meantime, Democrats have continued to try to do their jobs. How can there even be any question about which party is more fit to run this country?
"DUBLIN – Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has told priests that the Vatican has rejected the resignations of his two auxiliary bishops following their reported involvement in the Roman Catholic Church's cover-up of child abuse.
Benedict summoned Ireland's bishops to Rome in February to discuss the Dublin Archdiocese scandal. The following month the pope published an unprecedented pastoral letter to the Irish Catholic people that...studiously avoided any acknowledgment of hierarchy culpability in covering up crimes."
The Catholic Church is not (and has not been for probably centuries) a real religion; instead it is far more comparable to some sort of mafia-like gang of criminals. It's long past time when we as a nation stop giving them tax breaks and other signs that they have any more role in decent society than any other organized group of pedophiles.
"WASHINGTON—The Obama administration and BP PLC are close to a deal to use future revenues from the oil giant's Gulf of Mexico operations to guarantee its $20 billion cleanup and compensation fund"
I wonder how long it will be before the Obama administration makes a deal to allow burglars to pay reparations using funds from further burglaries.
Let the God Damned company go bankrupt, Barack. And then fire anyone in your administration that went along with this idiotic idea. It's about time you figured out who your friends are, buddy.

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."
Well, what do you know? Could this be part of the conservative plan, which we already know includes looting the wealth of our country to give to the rich? Without the repeal of the fourteenth amendment, it wouldn't be possible for them to just default on our national debt, and on all pensions which government employees worked a lifetime to earn. If they succeed in their campaign, presumably it would be perfectly constitutional for them to strip the nation of all assets, and then simply refuse to pay its liabilities.
It is my firm belief that everything the Republican party does, other than some contemptible pandering to the ignorant and greedy masses to keep them in line, is for the sole purpose of enriching the already rich. So I'm sorry, I can't convince myself that this clause isn't what the Republicans are really aiming for when they talk about doing away with the fourteenth amendment, and I am certainly going to keep my eyes open for any signs that this is the case.
