Green Eagle Teaparty News Report

Your intrepid and fearless foreign correspondent, Green Eagle, despising danger, has once more ventured forth to the distant Land of the Patriots, to observe their great religious ritual, the Tealess Tea Party. For yes, no tea of any kind was to be seen at these tea parties. Well, whatever, here is his report.

Green Eagle attended two tea parties today, one in Pasadena and one in Woodland Hills CA. Sadly, he must report that, like so many great cultural traditions, tea partying rather seems to be on the wane. The Woodland Hills spectacle attracted about 220 or 240 people; the Pasadena one less than 100. Green Eagle, who attended three of the last great wave of tea parties, is forced by his elevated journalistic standards to confess that this is far less that he saw at that time. This is enough to depress anyone who cares about our sacred values. Okay, it isn't, but it's sure enough for Green Eagle (a veteran of countless demonstrations of all kinds) to suspect that the jig is already up for the Teabaggers. Boy did they peak early.

Here are a couple of pictures. Not much to see here, but just for the record. The first one is from Pasadena, the second one from Woodland Hills. Much the same type of crowd attended as last time, but there were less of them, and they were less enthusiastic.

The highlight of the Pasadena tea party for Green Eagle is that he got up and gave a speech! Green Eagle has had a lot of experience in giving speeches at demonstrations, and he is proud to report that his two minutes of complete mumbo-jumbo got the loudest applause of the day. This was not nice of Green Eagle, but he has pretty limited self control.

At the Woodland Hills tea party, Green Eagle had a wonderful "conversation" with a man who told him that Social Security cards are communism. Green Eagle asked him if having a Social Security number was being marked with the number of the Beast. He replied, no, but it was a step in that direction. He then gave Green Eagle a nice lecture about how Nazis are liberals. That's what passes for fun at tea parties.

Finally, Green Eagle asked a number of people at the tea parties if they thought the low turnout was due to people waking up this morning and asking themselves, "hey, if Sarah Palin can quit, why shouldn't I?" They all assured him that, no, Sarah Palin had just pulled off a magnificent political masterstroke, and they are behind her decision 100%. Or maybe 120%.

Well, there you go. Green Eagle has managed to return to the land of the sane, without significant injury, and he hopes you all appreciate the effort he has expended to bring you this detailed and totally impartial news report.

On the other hand, he was hardly the only one up there spouting nonsense- just the only one who knew it.
