Wingnut Wrapup

I mentioned in another post that there is a concerted attempt to convince people that Obama is failing, in the hopes of creating the right's own reality by manipulating public perception. I want to start out Wingnut Wrapup today with a few examples of this phenomenon. I don't think they need much comment, except to point out that they are, like all right wing claims, false:

Rich Galen: Bad Days in Obamaville
Pat Buchanan: Has Obama's Luck Run Out?
Charles Krauthammer: Why Obamacare is Sinking
Jennifer Rubin, Pajamas Media: “The air seemed to go out of the ObamaCare balloon Thursday.”
T. K. Farrow, Pajamas Media: “Obama's Popularity Falling — But Not Among Blacks”
A. W. R. Hawkins, Human Events: “Obama's Health Care plan is in trouble, and so is he.”
Fred Barnes, Weekly Standard: “Obama's Already Lost the Health Care Argument”

I could list plenty more if I wanted, but I think you get the point. Of course, the few points that Obama's favorability ratings have fallen are well within historical norms, and over 70% of the American people continue to support a public option for health care. Well, on with the rest of the nonsense:

Town Hall: "Schools to Compete for Stimulus Pork
The president will use the money to prod states to toughen academic standards and find better ways to recruit and keep effective teachers."

Tougher academic standards and better teachers. A virtual textbook definition of wasteful government spending, A.K.A. pork. Remember when Bush claimed to be in favor of things like this? I didn't hear any conservatives complaining then. Of course, just to be fair, maybe it's because they knew he was lying.

Hugh Hewitt, Town Hall: "New Media, New Activism, and a New GOP: Newt and the NCPA "

The new GOP- Newt Gingrich. Maybe you should try to bring back Herbert Hoover.

Town Hall: “Cop: Went By the Book for Gates Arrest”

Maybe they need a new book.

Brian Faughnan, Red State: “Waxman: I Won’t Tolerate Bipartisanship”

That's why we love you, Henry.

Power Line: “As I've noted before, President Bush chose his words with great care, even when doing so made him seem halting in his delivery. As a result, he made fewer verbal mistakes--I'm talking about substance here, not minor stumbles--than any politician in memory.”

I know, I know. What can you say? But, just when you maybe thought that the biggest lie they could swallow was that Obama was a Muslim....

World Net Daily: “'Scofflaw' Obama has history with 'stupid' Cambridge police”

And what horrible crime did Obama commit that got him a 'history' with the Cambridge police?

Parking tickets. Parking tickets! That's his history with the Cambridge police. He got some parking tickets when he was in grad school. That's it. Man, why is the liberal media ignoring this story?

World Net Daily: “U.S. missile defense test 'a failure”

This story, which has been circulating around the conservative world for a couple of days, concerns a joint U.S.-Israeli test of a missile defense system.

Funny that, for twenty years, when every single multibillion dollar attempt at a missile defense system failed totally, the conservatives wouldn't hear a word of it. But, if a lack of a missile defense system could give us an excuse to bomb Iran, suddenly it's important news. Go figure, huh?

World Net Daily: “Lou Dobbs: Hawaii destroyed Obama birth certificate”

Lou, you're lying. They have the original in their vault and you know it damn well.

Human Events: “Boehner to the White House: I Don't Believe the Economy Has Been Rescued”

John, you don't believe the earth is older than 6000 years, either.

Jason Clemens, Human Events: “People are leaving the Golden State because it is over-taxed and over-regulated.”

Bye! Catch ya later!
