Lying, World War II Style

This is hardly an earth shaking thing, but I found it interesting. On Town Hall today is an article about the decline of the Luftwaffe, by one Warren Kozak, who is either one of the biggest liars in world history, or has determined to write an article about the one subject in the world that he knows less about than anyone alive.

The topic is the decline of the Luftwaffe in World War II. Here's a sample:

Speaking about D-Day, he writes: "There was, however, one vital element that was blessedly missing. There were no German airplanes flying above them on D-Day.

This did not happen by chance. It had been planned long before – at the very start of the war – and it came at a terrible price. Just two years earlier, the Luftwaffe was the strongest and most experienced air force in the world. If the German Air Force had been even a fraction of its former self on D-Day, it could have turned the tide of the battle. But in a fateful decision shortly after Pearl Harbor, the military command in Washington decided they would sacrifice tens of thousands of young Americans as cannon fodder to whittle down the German Air Force and give the Allies time to build up their land forces. In all, upwards of 60,000 Americans would lose their lives in the struggle for the air."

Do you notice anything missing in this account? Here are a couple that occurred to me:

1. The Battle of Britain. I guess this jerk never heard about that "Never in the course of Human conflict" thing.

2. Russia, to which Hitler had diverted most of his army and where the Luftwaffe suffered horrible devastation.

Yes, according to this man, one of the biggest lying assholes I have ever encountered, the defeat of the Luftwaffe was accomplished entirely by the United States without the participation of any other country.

This is an absolutely shameful insult to the hundreds of thousands of Russians and Britons who were really responsible for the destruction of the Luftwaffe. In its sheer pointlessness, 1t is also a perfect example of the casual contempt for the truth that lives so large in wingnut circles.

As you know perfectly well, digging out the truth takes hard work, intelligence and persistence that never lets up. Many people hold opinions and are happy to express them, without having bothered to do their homework.

Poll,

Thanks for the implied compliment, but knowing that there were other countries on our side in World War II only takes a couple of hours watching the Military Channel. If they run that "Commanders" show about Stalingrad one more time, I'm going to start shooting back.
