Accurate as Usual, Jonah

Jonah Goldberg, talking with Glenn Beck last night:

"I'm not calling Barack Obama a Hitler and I'm not calling him Nazis and all the rest. But, you know, in fascism, we saw the people's car. We call it the Volkswagen, where the state said what we're going to do is we're going to take over the auto industry, government and business and unions are going to get together and we're going to create cars to fill a political need rather than a market need and give people these cars."

God, Jonah.

1. There were no unions in Nazi Germany. They had been forcibly replaced by government front organizations. That's because the Nazis were right wingers, Jonah. I know you wrote a whole book claiming the exact opposite, but around here we'll stick with the truth.

2. Apparently the Volkswagen did fill a little market need there, considering that it continued to be bought for decades after Hitler and all of the other Nazis were long dead.

3. Volkswagen did not give people their cars, they sold them at a very impressive profit. That's called capitalism. If you think that is such a terrible thing, just say so. Otherwise, quit complaining.

4. You're not calling Barack Obama a Hitler? That is a complete lie, Jonah. That's exactly what you are doing. You are just too craven to own up to your filthy smears.

5. "The state said what we're going to do is we're going to take over....the government..."- That doesn't even make enough sense to be a competent lie. The state is the government, Jonah, or didn't you ever notice that?

6. The state did not take over industry during the Nazi era. Companies like Krupp, Theissen and IG Farben flourished and earned great riches during the Nazi era, growing fat on government contracts, like Halliburton and Blackwater.

There you go, Jonah, you pathetic tool. Six lies in two sentences. Just about par for the course with you.
