Oh Oh, Here It Comes

From the Daily Beast (via Americablog:)

"The Vatican says the pope, as a "head of state," is immune from legal action. But U.N. judge Geoffrey Robertson says the Vatican is wrong—and that the pope could be tried for systemic sex crimes...If acts of sexual abuse by priests are not isolated or sporadic events but part of a wide practice both known to and unpunished by their de facto authority—i.e. the Catholic Church—then under the command responsibility principle of international law (laid down by the U.S. Supreme Court) the commander can be held criminally liable. "

That would be liable for crimes against humanity. Oh dear, I feel that heart attack coming on any minute now. Ratzo, we hardly knew ya.

You're saying they'll off him rather than let him stand trial?

I think that, at the rate that things are going, he is rapidly becoming a bigger embarrassment to them than they can tolerate. I don't think, since they declared Popes infallible, they can have him resign in disgrace, so what are the options for them?
