Carry a Gun- We Can't Afford Police Any More

And how about this story of life in the new Republican America?

"CLEVELAND (AP) — One judge's solution for citizens feeling less secure because of budget cuts in an Ohio county: Carry a gun.

Judge Alfred Mackey of Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court advised residents Friday to be vigilant and arm themselves because the number of deputies has been cut about in half because of a tight budget."

Republicans- braindead assholes that don't care a bit about paying trillions for wars of aggression or to enrich the already rich, but have decided that they just don't have to pay for basic government services like schools and police. Well this is their world, and this is where we are all headed as long as they are so successful in cranking out endless legions of ignorant, stupid, greedy, violent baboons that blab about what great Americans they are but don't think they owe this country a damned thing.

Wait a damned minute!

The “prophecies” warn that Armageddon is supposed to start somewhere in the Mideast, not Ohio !!!!!

Maybe the judge feels that his job is in jeopardy and just wants more shootings to keep his courtroom full.

Mideast, Midwest, what's the difference?

"Carry a gun" where? To the convenience store? To my dentist? To the day care centre?

Remind me... the next time I'm in Ashtabula County, to assume everyone is armed, not approach anyone for directions in case they simply shoot me in the time I have to say "excuse me", to tacitly submit to the rule of armed thugs by letting them set the tone of the society I find myself in, to not leave my gun with my car keys when I get home lest a friend's four year old pick it up, and to generally live in fear - all the while telling myself what an awesome law-abiding kill-proof dude I am because I never grew up from playing cowboy.

Remember all this next time you pull your cell phone to tell your wife you're going to be home late tonight ("look out! he's pulling a gun...!")

Magpie,

I grew up in northern Ohio, not all that far from Ashtabula county.

I want to give you some advice: If you ever are in Ashtabula county for any length of time, don't carry a gun. You'll be tempted to use it on yourself.

I'm actually not to know that Ashtabula County isn't a perfectly nice place - bar what this Judge Dufus said - but your advice is noted, thank you.
Here's a great irony about this G.E.
These nuts are buying guns to protect them "the government." Not to protect themselves from crooks.

I think they are buying guns because they are in the grips of some juvenile fantasy that they are going to have an armed revolution soon, and their pathetic teabagger militias are going to beat down the United States Military.

Just wait... As soon as the Crips and Bloods start shooting back, they'll all be running home to mama.

The reason the budget is tight is because of low tax revenues and Ohio's general crumbling economy. Note that these aren't Republicans, rather, these are Democrats controlling virtually every aspect of Ohio politics except the Senate.

Nothing wrong with packing heat either, it deters crime extremely well.

"Remember all this next time you pull your cell phone to tell your wife you're going to be home late tonight "

You aren't around firearms much, are you? I've been to Ashtabula and the people there are very nice. Most of them probably have guns in their home already anyway.

"they are going to have an armed revolution soon, and their pathetic teabagger militias are going to beat down the United States Military."

OR they could be buying guns because their police force just got cut in half. The reason why I will own guns in 336 days is for personal protection as well as sport. I'm not overthrowing anything unless it really needs to be overthrown.

Derek,

I recommend a SIG. They're so dependable Out here in Cali, we like the P229 because they are lighter and we can't have the 17 round magazine, but you might like the old standby, the P226.

See, Harry Lyme was wrong. The Swiss did come up with something besides the Cuckoo clock.

And don't forget, Derek, I grew up in one of the most pathetic of the now-derelict industrial towns of Northern Ohio, Lorain. I know what is going on in this sad part of the country, and it isn't pretty.

Not when they're in the hands of amateurs, no.

"Nothing wrong with packing heat either, it deters crime extremely well.'

Apparently not, otherwise wouldn't be so scared in the first place.
