Infants on the March

Over at Renew America, you can read someone quoting Patrick Henry:

"Gentlemen may cry, "Peace! Peace!" — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"

Forget the ongoing Republican determination to foment violent behavior among their ignorant followers, who are going to pay a horrible price (as will their victims) for allowing themselves to become suckers.

What really stands out to me is the sheer infantilism of these tax-hating codgers to think they are in any way comparable to the people who fought to found our nation. This kind of self-aggrandizing, willing delusion is really pathetic in anyone. It is downright disgusting when it has become the position of an entire major political party.

Or have the religious neocons become the de facto gestapo of the Republican party? They're all so belligerent (at least from in front of their keyboards) that I can't tell.
