Trickery

From World Net Daily:

"Analyst: Democrat trickery to force Obamacare
Suggests maneuver will allow simple majority vote on health-industry takeover"

Well, there it is, spelled out in the most simple terms. A majority vote, i.e. democracy, is trickery. Not allowing Republicans to use endless filibusters to prevent the large Democratic majority from enacting something favored by two thirds of the American people is trickery.

On the other hand, as we have seen over the last few days, military dictatorship is democracy. Republican style "democracy," that is.

Actually, it is. Not only is it illegal, it is scummy. We are a Republic, and within our government a simple majority vote won't cut it unless it is a budget resolution. Seeing as how this is an unconstitutional piece of legislation, it would first require an amendment, then a 60+ vote in the Senate.

"from enacting something favored by two thirds of the American people is trickery.
"

Where do you pull these stats from? The current plan is supported by 33%, opposed by 53%. The dissent has been increasing steadily. Reform, yes, most would like to see that before the end of the year, but not this kind of reform.

Note: we are not a democracy.

I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of American, and to the _________ for which it stands.

Ah - the pledge of allegiance, an odd loyalty oath written in 1892 by a prominent American SOCIALIST!

65% of Americans support a meaningful public option. I expect the 60% of the Senate who are not Republicans to give it to them.

Yet only 33% support the current plan.

Also, a large majority dont want a plan that will raise the deficit.

Personally, I'd like to see a strong public option for health insurance where ever dollar of deficit spending is taken back from oil, farm and defense subsidies. I'd also like to see a public option for malpractice insurance available to individual physicians, but not medical corporations to further level the playing field.

Good ideas. Personally, I would like to finance the public option through tariffs on American companies that move their production overseas to get cheap labor. If they want to pay people in China and Indonesia a fair, competitive wage, they won't have to pay a thing, and we will take care of our medical expenses from the tax revenue gained from all of those new American jobs.

Protectionism. You do realize this was one of the main causes of the Great Depression, right?

"If they want to pay people in China and Indonesia a fair, competitive wage"

They already are. What isn't fair to you could very well be fair to them. Leave the economics to the WTO. Besides, this would break all our agreements under the GATT.

"and we will take care of our medical expenses from the tax revenue gained from all of those new American jobs."

If we are harming businesses (which is where a large majority of our taxes come from) then how will it increase tax revenue? Those who make under $50K a year hardly pay taxes as it is (3% of the total bill). A large chunk of them either pay nothing or RECEIVE money (44%). So if we are going to keep the poor poor and up unemployment, let's go with your plan.

If we want to help create jobs and boom our economy while helping other countries pull themselves out of the third world, let's go with the free market.

And GE, I hope this means that you've accepted that our government is a republic.
