Joe Wilson Brings Out The Best in our Wingnut Brothers

Let's look at the dignity and respect with which the Republican party greeted our President's address to congress on one of the most important and troubling issues facing the country. Shall we:

Thomas Sowell, Town Hall; "Hubris-laden charlatans" was the way a recent e-mail from a reader characterized the Obama administration. That phrase seems especially appropriate for the Charlatan-in-Chief, Barack Obama, whose speech to a joint session of Congress was both a masterpiece of rhetoric and a shameless fraud."

Lindsey Graham: " I Think The Speech Was A Demogogic, Unfair, Combative Disaster"

No comment needed on those two, huh?

Erick Erickson, Red State: "Media Matters Lies. Joe Wilson Told the Truth"

Well, sort of. Actually, he told a blatant, deliberate lie, but what's a little distinction like that?

"It does no good to pat Joe on the back or give him an “atta boy.” Joe Wilson needs us to open our wallets and checkbooks. Joe Wilson is now a serious threat to Barack Obama because he dared point out that the Emperor has no clothes. The left will target him"

You betcha. Five hundred thousand dollars worth already, buster.

Kevin Holtsberry, Red State: " Obama’s soaring rhetoric fails to change minds"

Except that the polls say different. But there I am again, quibbling away about my "facts." Oh well, at least he admired Obama's rhetoric. Oh wait, never mind- I missed this part:

"If by soaring rhetoric you mean dishonest partisan attacks"

Pam "The Animal" Geller, Atlas Shrugs: "I. Love. This. Man. America needs men like Wilson. Polite and squishy got us into the fix we're in with a commie regime."

As usual, Pammy grabs control of the low road. Below: I thought, since we spend so much time with Pammy, it's time to let you see her. Here is her picture. Or, at least, a picture of a plastic model of Pammy. I'm not sure which. Pam, if your mother told you once, she told you a million times, don't scrimp on the important things. Like plastic surgery. They just don't do that good a job at Earl Scheib.

Confederate Yankee: "The extent of which our leaders have utterly warped morals was glaringly revealed last night when SC Rep. Joe Wilson shouted out "You Lie!" after President Obama claimed that the health-care proposals he supports would not cover illegal aliens."

Ah, at last, an honest man. It takes an utterly warped mind to make a spectacle of yourself like that, Joe. Oh, excuse me:

"The simple fact of the matter is that Wilson was correct"

Oy. He wasn't, you see, but then the word "fact" has so many meanings. For example, it can mean "lie," if you are a Republican.

Newsmax: "Rep. Joe Wilson is ....not backing down one bit about Obama being wrong in saying healthcare reform won't subsidize insurance for illegals."

And why should he? You know, Hitler never backed down on what he believed either. Until he committed suicide. Think about it, Joe.

Newsmax: "Former presidential adviser Karl Rove said President Barack Obama’s address to Congress Wednesday night was “gratuitously bitter and partisan"

Oy gevalt. Karl Rove. Bitter and partisan. Oy vey. Oy yoy yoy.

“Obama said people are concerned with setting up death panels to kill off senior citizens, but that’s not what they’re concerned about,” Rove told Fox News. “They’re concerned about the proposal that basically says we’re going to incentivize doctors to sit down with [a patient] and go over end-of-life decisions.”

And damn those doctors if they dare to discuss medical issues with their patients. That's communism.

The Telegraph: "Veteran Congress watches had never heard anything like it. Previous presidents have been subjected to the odd ironic chortles, a disapproving murmur or perhaps a jocular heckle, but not a full-throated insult like this.
It was a new low, and a sign of the strength of the antipathy Mr Obama provokes in some of his opponents"

We should have known. It's all Obama's fault. Like those girls in the short dresses.

Jed Babbin, Human Events: "Slick Barry Sells Health Care- And you thought Bill Clinton was slick.

Exactly.

What a pile of crap.

Comments

The right wing cabal will circle the wagons around Wilson. They learned from Bush to never admit a mistake or a lie. Just keep telling it and eventually enough morons will believe it to win an election.
Green Eagle said…
Of course they will. And sad to say, it's not just that they can't admit to any mistake. That's clearly true, but I doubt that they really think this was a mistake. They see it as striking a heroic blow for liberty.
