The Violence Never Stops

Today's story- and yes, Poll P, it does seem to be becoming a daily occurrence:

"Police in Arlington, MA this week seized a “large amount” of weapons and ammunition from local businessman Travis Corcoran after he wrote a blog post threatening U.S. lawmakers in the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ). In a post on his blog (which has since been removed)...Corcoran applauded the shooting of Giffords and justified the assassination of lawmakers because he argued the federal government has grown far beyond its constitutional limits. “It is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable to shoot indiscriminately. Target only politicians and their staff and leave regular citizens alone,” he wrote in the post.

... Corcoran calls himself “an anarcho-capitalist” and while his blog has been taken down, based on his Twitter page, he appears to hold views similar to those of many in the anti-government libertarian wing of the conservative movement, like many tea party activists."

The frequency of this sort of thing is increasing rapidly, and it is unfortunately inevitable that we will see increased incidents in which right wingers succeed in carrying out their threats.  That is bad enough, but what really worries me is how long it will be before we start seeing militia-style mass attacks perpetrated by these people, as they continue to be openly driven to violence by the Glenn Becks and  Sarah Palins out there, and far too many Republican leaders too.   An intolerable situation is being deliberately brewed up in this country, and it is going to carry a very high price tag if it is not stopped.

On January 18th on the floor of the House, Rep. Cohen compared Republican dissent of Obamacare to Nazi propaganda. Ahh the new civility.

Ahh, the new truth.

The massive lies which are all the Republican party has to offer the American people are similar to Nazi propaganda.

Don't get in an argument about the Nazis with me, Anonymous. I guarantee that I know about a thousand times as much about them as you do.

lies like the CBO score on the health care bill using fuzzy math or the fact that health care costs would come down when actually for many have gone up since this bill.

yeah it's the republicans who are liars.

And by the way, I looked at all three of your links. They were to a bunch of typical right wing lie factories, featuring a long discredited story about union "thugs" beating up a black guy, and also characterizing union members as thugs for holding a perfectly legal demonstration. When people try to preserve their jobs, they're thugs, but of course when you teabagging suckers get paid to turn out to protect the fortune of the Koch brothers, you're patriots.

Anon dishonestly frames the lies as "Republican dissent". That's not what Cohen said.

Of course it isn't and you get to decide who meant what. Maybe you shouldn't try analyzing too much because things tend to get twisted in your analysis to make them sound logical.

Cohen said the lie was "government takeover of health care". Yes, that is a lie. Insurance companies still manage my health care payments.

Deciding "who meant what" is based on who said what. Crazy liberals think words should have meanings.
