It Can't Happen Here...

This great news from the New York Times:

"KABUL, Afghanistan — Fraud and mismanagement at Afghanistan’s largest bank have resulted in potential losses of as much as $900 million — three times previous estimates — heightening concerns that the bank could collapse and trigger a broad financial panic...The extent of these losses make it clear that keeping the bank afloat — something the government has said it is determined to do — would require large infusions of cash from an already strained budget.
Banking specialists, businessmen and government officials now fear that word of Kabul Bank’s troubles could prompt a run on solvent banks, destroying the country’s nascent banking system"

Man, aren't you glad that we'd never have an administration that would let something like that happen here- the President and Vice President would have to be really corrupt to sit there and let people rip off the whole banking system, right?  And, I mean, American voters would never fall for someone so corrupt and traitorous as to send us all into poverty while their friends steal us blind.  That's for sure.  Why, our democracy is so secure that it would take something absolutely impossible, like five corrupt Supreme Court justices conspiring to place a crook in the White House, despite the result of the popular vote.  And the constitution loving American patriots we hear so much about these days would be out in force to put a stop to that.

Oh well, at least one thing we don't have to worry about like they do in Afghanistan (see story below)- high military officers having sex with 9 year old boys.  No, we would never sink that low.  Here in America, we leave that sort of thing to Catholic priests.

If I wanted to be really cynical...

I might say that the Right wing response to such an issue would NEVER be to blame the fraudsters... NO they EARNED that money and must receive it so as to retain the best and brightest in this essential economic sector.
It would NEVER be to tighten regulation... NO that would instantly destroy freedom in every corner of the country and lead to Marxist Communist Fascist Black Panther domination and make everyone's guns disappear.
No no no...

It's the fault of people trying to help the boys escape sexual slavery, who have no-one but themselves to blame for being abused and helpless and poor.

Just like it's the fault of minorities and those terrible people who forced the banks to give money to poor people, who have no-one but themselves to blame for the factory they used to work in being shut down so people in another country can work for a dollar a day.

When will we ever get the message?
Never stand up for the weak. That's the stupidity called "compassion".
Never ask for a fair society. That's socialism.
Never ask for decency. That's "social justice" and boy has Glenn warned us about that.
Fuck everyone else. Don't retreat. Reload. And god bless America as we pillage it mercilessly and pay for astroturf grassroots hillbilly redneck revolution to make sure ordinary people screw themselves when we're too busy to do it.

That's the Right way.

Has the US ratified the international convention on the rights of the child yet?
Be careful about doing that... last I heard it will leave the vaunted land of peace and prosperity known as Somalia as the only country who hasn't.
