Wingnut Wrapup

One more descent into the maelstrom of stupidity:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Confidence in State-Run Media Continues to Slide"

State run media, huh? Would that be ABC, owned by Disney, or NBC, owned by General Electric? Or CBS, owned by Viacom? Or CNN, owned by Time Warner? Can't you guys even try to tell a believable lie any more?

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "Obama Lectures America Over Ground Zero Mosque Plans"

Reminding us that we believe in religious freedom in this country. Or at least some of us do.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: "The Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus."

The real Socialist Party of America disbanded in 1972. I can find no information about this current alleged group except their "press release" being featured on several right wing blogs.
One more lie from our Republican friends.

Town Hall: "Black Man Murders 8 Whites, Media Blame Whites"

Well, of course that is a lie too, at least the "media blames whites" part. Needless to say, they couldn't produce a single example to back up their smear.

Michelle Malkin, Town Hall: "Have you heard of the "Great Outdoors Initiative"?...across the country, White House officials have been meeting quietly with environmental groups to map out government plans for acquiring untold millions of acres of both public and private land. It's another stealthy power grab through executive order that promises to radically transform the American way of life. "

By preserving wilderness for our enjoyment, rather than just let corporations rape it and leave it useless.

Town Hall: "GOP senator suggests mosque will be election issue"

And it will be, if they can make it one, instead of the issues which really affect our lives, all of which would lead a rational person to vote Democratic.

Doug Giles, Town Hall: "Now I Know Why Brad Dumped Aniston for Angie "

Doug Giles is, in case you'd forgotten, the guy whose credentials for Republican leadership consist of his ability to pass himself off as a pimp.

Doug, now you know? Now you know why someone would dump their girlfriend for Angelina Jolie? What are you, a eunuch?

Vladimir, Red State: "Is the Islamic community within its rights to build a mosque near Ground Zero? Probably so. But is justice served when we focus on rights?"

Is justice served when we focus on rights? Why no, of course not, Vladimir. So lets start, say, by taking away your right to own a gun. How about that? Does that work for you?

Leon De Winter, Pajamas Media: "A Mosque in New York for a Christian Church in Mecca...A way for those behind the Ground Zero mosque to show "mutual recognition and respect."

Because Muslims are scum, and the only decent Christian response is to act just like them.

Alan Caruba, Renew America: "The first un-American president..."As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country." — Barack Hussein Obama"

What a traitor. Hasn't anyone pointed out to him that the first amendment only applies to CHRISTIANS?

Neil Bryan Goldberg, Renew America: "Barry Soetoro, posing as an American President, just proposed surrender to the psychological and metaphysical act of war against America, in the form of a giant 9/11 Mosque, where huge loudspeakers — five times a day, would proclaim victory of Islam over freedom. Step down Mr. Soetoro, step away from the desk, step out of the Oval Office, and out of our White House. You are not an American President, you are loyal to, and serving foreign powers. Take your dagger from our back, and step away."

Who cares if you were elected by a strong margin. You're BLACK, and so you have no right to uphold the constitution.

Star Parker, World Net Daily: "How, in these tough times, do Democrats who control Congress decide who'll get funded and who will not? This is the latest example, particularly illustrative, showing that Washington is less and less about ideas and values, and more and more about interests, power and money."

And what is Star railing against here? Giveaways to Wall Street? More tax cuts for the rich? No, money voted for food stamps. Yes indeedy, the truly powerful and rich interests in America- food stamp recipients.

Thanks for enlightening us, Star.

Russ Vaughn, American Thinker: "Could Jews Be the Saviors of America? Will Obama's mosque support finally wake up the Jewish community to the idea they are backing the wrong horse?"

No, Russ, you vicious dick. Jews are already awake- to what happens when the majority forbids people to practice their religion. Get what I'm saying here? Here's a hint: Germany, 1937.

Charles Blow, New York Times: "Maybe we should just let the children run the country, at least until the recession is over. They appear to be the only people not bubbling over with anger, anxiety and frustration. "

Man, you must have never had teenagers.

Gallup: "Americans continue to express near-record-low confidence in newspapers and television news"

I wonder why that might be.

"Probably so. But is justice served when we focus on rights?"

Man. That's almost as insane as the commenter who wrote this to me on a rightwing blog:

"Freedom of religion NEVER comes with an additional right to build a house of worship on a particular parcel of land. Freedom of religion doesn't come with a blanket building permit for wherever those of any religion just feel like building. And that is true for ALL, not just Muslims."

How do you fight that sort of stupidity?

PS. Gateway Pundit has to be the worsst of the "morans."

That pundit guy is a moron. Everybody knows the democratic party is the home of socialism in America.

Obama's spreadin' it around comment led to the party press investigating an obscure plumber more than they investigated the democratic presidential candidate.

Keep smokin' that hopium!

Shaw, I agree with you that, at the present time, Gateway Pundit is the most offensive liar on my regular Wingnut Wrapup list. I wish I could tell you that he is the worst out there, but there are people like Pam Geller, who are far worse- so bad, in fact that I can hardly bear reading them at all.

Silverfiddle, most of the people here don't really respond to cheesy Republican name-calling. You know that I appreciate it when you have points to make even when I disagree with you. You clearly have more to say than just repeating right wing slurs, and I think you would be better off to just make your points without joining the likes of Gateway Pundit in churning out nonsense.

I find it particularly offensive that the "state run media" has managed to turn words like liberal, socialist and, now, progressive into into loathsome epithets, How is it better to be a racist, regressive tea party conservative futilely trying to turn back time than it is to try look to the future and find solutions to the problems of the present? I would thin a mosque near ground zero would serve to remind all of the inherent dangers of fundamental conservatism as well as show the world that America continues to live by the principles of its founders.
Silverfiddle said…
They are loathsome epithets because they have brought enslavement, misery and ruin.

Now, if you want to talk classical liberalism, then I'm all for it
Cardinal44 said…
"enslavement, misery and ruin" in what universe? Where? O've spent a great deal of time in may socialist nations and have never seen any of this. I've experienced good and free medical care, seen thrivinf industry and even better school systems.

Then why didn't you stay there?

"Then why didn't you stay there?"

Back to "love it or leave it, huh Silverfiddle?

Well, here's my answer to your question: because people in this country too have a right to a decent quality of life, and despite the treasonous, anti-American behavior of people like you, we haven't quite given up on achieving it some day.
Silverfiddle said…
We agree that we have rights.

I think Cardinal is full of crap, final decision pending more details.

"So many people extol the virtues of places they've never been..."

I'm just curious, Silverfiddle- what places have you lived or spent a lot of time in?

Various states in the American Southwest, Germany, Holland, England,
Various countries in the Middle Ease, Central America and South America.

The opposite of "liberal, socialist or progressive" is not "racist, regressive tea party conservative."

Both of these broad ideological groups operate at the same end of the "lotsa government" spectrum.

The opposite of both is the free markets and free ideas of classical liberalism. People must be free, even free to fail.
Cardinal44 said…
People are always free to fail - and often do no matter where they live, but in an unregulated "free market" might always makes right and they are seldom offered the opportunity to succeed. Even the first forms of government in human history enforced rules against human frailties - they called them sins. Greed was one if I'm not mistaken.

Great! We agree! No rules=Anarchy, and that is not what I advocate.

"The opposite of "liberal, socialist or progressive" is not "racist, regressive tea party conservative."

Yes it is, at least in this country.

"No rules=Anarchy, and that is not what I advocate."

No, that's not what you advocate. What you advocate is no rules for rich people.
