Pirates, Part II- Four Hours Later

Well, as I predicted below, the first of the wingnut congratulatory messages for President Obama, concerning the successful pirate hostage rescue, has come in. From Red State:

"Playing pansy politics with pirates put the Captain’s life at increased risk. His first escape attempt was thwarted by the thugs as Phillips remained adrift from the aid and cover of the US Navy, which sat restrained by an administration too cowardly to let slip the dogs of war. Each day the tension and humiliation of a nation grew.....

In the end, Captain Phillips wasn’t saved by the President, but by his own courageous plunge and the deadly professionalism of our men with guns. The President, you see, was saved by the Captain."

I am sorry. Though I have spent the better part of my life perfecting the art of bitter sarcasm, I don't think there are words in the English language to describe the cowardly and despicable nature of this behavior. Before the rescue, it was all Obama's fault. Now that the rescue succeeded, Obama had nothing to do with it.

Keep playing to your base, guys. Every time you do something like this, a few more people see the light. Soon there will be few enough of you that, in the words of one of your saints, we can drown you in the bathtub.
