Bird Trainer
From Huffington Post, of all places, this bizarre story by right wing author and American Enterprise Institute associate, Rachel Ehrenfield:
"Osama Bin Laden is in Iran, asserts Alan Howell Parrot, the director of The Union for the Conservation of Raptors (UCR), who for many years served as a Falconer for the rulers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and members of Saudi Royal family. Parrot has been offering evidence of Bin Laden's sighting in Iran since November 2004 to a great number of U.S. government officials at the Department of Defense, the FBI, Senators and even to the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Gen. Michael V. Hayden. Government officials who asked to remain nameless confirmed Parrot's contact with the government. Still, no one responded......
......Parrot claims that he has negotiated with Iranian officials the transfer of bin Laden from Iran "to the custody of the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud al Faisal, whom I know personally" he said."
Okay. It should be obvious to any reader of this blog that we couldn't resist any item about an alleged person named Parrot, who spends his time allegedly taking care of falcons, which are almost like eagles.
May I first point out that Iranians are Shiites, and offered their help after 9-11 in the effort to put a stop to Al Quaeda, which they see as enemies. They are as likely to harbor Osama as Israel would have been to provide a comfortable retirement to Hermann Goehring. In order to even begin to believe this story, you have to erase that fact from your mind. But as long as you subscribe to the great neocon axiom that All Muslims Are The Same, you're probably well along to reaching that point.
Next, I suppose, you need to convince yourself that the Saudis would employ, for the purpose of negotiating custody of the world's most wanted man, a bird trainer. Cheney, yes. I could see him doing something that stupid. But we're talking Someone Other than Dick Cheney.
Sorry. I can ignore facts as easily as any wingnut. I do not believe there is or has ever been a bird trainer named Parrot, and I never will, no matter what the evidence. And as for his connection to Osama Bin Laden, fat chance.
