Wingnut Wrapup

Let me just jump right into my dredgings from the sewer that is our government's loyal opposition:

Joseph C. Phillips, Town Hall:  "GOP, Don't Fool Us This Time"

Fat chance.

Town Hall Update:  " Fake Tea Partiers Bankrolled by Dems"

Oh, so you're finally admitting that all real tea partiers are Republicans- tea partiers must be fake if they're Democrats. That's novel- a conservative telling the truth for once.

Doug Giles, Town Hall:  "I've got another racist lie to tell you"

Well, okay, that's not really what he called his article.  That's just what it was.

Red State:  "you saw the Marxist March on Washington last weekend."

No, I must have missed that one.

Confederate Yankee:  "I Feel Sorry For John Amato"

I'm sure the feeling is mutual, Mr. Yankee.  If he has a clue who you are.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "1,078 Articles Written About Obama’s Philly Speech – Only One Mentions A Book Was Hurled at His Head...And the AP also didn’t mention that a streaker was arrested at the rally today, too.  Either our media is even more corrupt than we thought or the Daily Mail has the story wrong.  Would they really hide this from the American public?"

The sick, corrupt press just proved that they are nothing but pawns of Obama!  They covered up the fact that there was a streaker at his speech!  Will the evil never end.  If the press had reported that, Obama would be impeached for sure.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Barack Obama: “Republicans Messed Up So Bad” That Millions Are Still Out Of Work"

God, Barack, I love it when you talk that way.  The truth hurts, huh, Jim?

Alan Caruba, Renew America:  "Echoes of 1930s Germany?"

Oh, Alan would never say that Obama is Hitler, but just think about it.  It makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

Let's look a little farther at Mr. Caruba's comments:

"It happens that I have been reading a book, "Berlin at War," by historian Roger Moorhouse. What we tend to forget is that the National Socialist party, led by Hitler, was freely elected to power by Germans"

Apparently you didn't read the book too closely, because that never happened.  Hitler was appointed by the senile Hindenberg.

"and, in general, had their support because of its early success energizing a moribund economy.  Though we know in hindsight that Hitler was a monster, at the time he gave Germans a reason to take pride in their nation again and he proved adept at adding more territory to Germany without firing a shot. In the years leading up to the invasion of Poland in 1939, Berliners and other Germans were generally content with Hitler and the party."

Well, leaving aside the issue of how much real support Hitler had in Germany (as I usually do, I recommend Richard Evans on this subject), we once again see something we saw a couple of days ago from that Ohio Republican congressional candidate:  comments that are apologies for Hitler at best, and can easily be seen as approving of him.  So who are the real Nazis in America today, Obama or the guys who dress up in SS uniforms and like to talk about all the wonderful things Hitler did for Germany?  I mean, really.

Matt C. Abbot, Renew America:  "Priest to Catholic voters: Stop being stupid!"

Priest to Catholic boys:  Stop wiggling around.  This is for your own good.

Which do you think is more likely?

Connie Hair, Renew America:  "Obama enabling violent jihad — The Obama administration's first show trial for a violent Guantanamo Bay jihadi in a civilian court -- a man who has never set foot in America -- and endowing this enemy combatant with full citizenship-level Fifth Amendment rights is unraveling in the courtroom and putting America at risk.

Of course, the case is unravelling in the courtroom because the last President (remember him?  His name was Bush. Ring a bell now?) allowed interrogators to torture the witnesses, so the judge (must be a pinko, huh?) ruled that their testimony was inadmissable.  But of course it's Obama's fault.  I'll tell you what- if it's Obama's fault that judges won't allow torture in the United States, then hooray for him.  And as for you, Connie, maybe you'd like life better in a country that's not ashamed to torture.  Like Iran or North Korea.  I'm sure we'd all chip in to send you to a place where you'd feel more comfortable.

World Net Daily:  "Gingrich sounds off on Obama eligibility"

Boy, that'll put the scare in him.

J. R. Dunn, American Thinker:  "The American Left Slides into Psychosis"

This from the people that think that the world was created six thousand years ago, that global warming is some sort of unexplainable scientific conspiracy, that Obama is both a Communist and Muslim, that Jesus cared more about hating gay people than about the poor, that the thing that will fix this country is giving more money to rich people, that Saddam was behind 9-11, etc. etc. etc.  Talk about projection.

The Astute Bloggers:  ""MEIN KAMPF" MEANS "MY JIHAD"

No it doesn't, you ignorant dicks.

The Astute Bloggers:  "RICH LIBS HAVE NO PROBLEM PAYING ACCOUNTANTS TO MAKE SURE THEY PAY AS LITTLE TAXES AS POSSIBLE"

Of course, what they don't mention is that rich Republicans accomplish the same thing by paying congress members.

The Astute Bloggers:  "Found at Atlas Shrugs comments:  Have you seen this:  Message: My name is Malik Bawwab and I am an Arab Muslim! And we will build our Victory Mosque wherever we want to build it! And there is nothing any of you damn infidels can do about it! We will even build it on top of your grave! You can cry all you want and complain like little babies, but WE OWN YOU!!! And all my Arab brothers and sisters spit on your grave!!!"

And of course, the fact that it was found at Pam Geller's website is a virtually ironclad guarantee that Malik Bawwab is a real person, right?  Good research there, O Astute Ones.

Dan Riehl, Riehl World View:  "Session's Feckless And Corrupt Young Guns Program Drops Iott"

Because what could be more feckless and corrupt than not wanting to be associated with a Nazi sympathizer?

Well, enough for today, huh?  Because there will always be more soon.  In the meantime don't forget to wear your Nazi uniforms tomorrow- we're all going to reenact the Waffen SS shooting of a couple thousand innocent people and burying them in a ditch.  Boy, that'll teach our children a lot about the wonder that was Nazi Germany, huh?

Right-wing bloggers insist the SS cosplay thing is just a beat-up over an hobby related to military history.
I'd like to dissect that for a moment..

Up on top of my bookshelf here I have a Tamiya scale model of German Tiger Tank that my father built, oh, 30 years ago maybe. I was impressed with it as a kid and kept it after dad passed on.

That's an example of unsympathetic abstract interest in the German military of WW2. Like owning a book about the subject.

Dressing up as something and acting it out is a different gig altogether, unless you're an actor doing it purely for someone else's entertainment.

I just got back from Japan where I attended a demonstration of traditional equestrian archery, something the Japanese among other Asian cultures have been doing for about 1500 years. They dress up in period costume and thunder down the way on horseback, drawing and shooting arrow after arrow at targets with great skill.
THAT is a re-enactment society too, and they absolutely express an affinity with who they represent.

The Waffen SS were a political thug unit with a history going back to the earliest days of Nazi organisation. They weren't a bunch of brave farmboys or a purely military unit. Getting dressed up as the Waffen SS - of all the hundreds of German military units one COULD have chosen - is a selective and calculated act of affinity specifically with the Waffen SS. An admiration with what the Waffen SS did, and what the Waffen SS represent.

When we see some dickhead Tea Party jerk dressed up in 18th century costume are we not meant to think they are expressing an affinity with who they are dressed up as?

I went to Disneyland in Tokyo with my kids. Saw a lot of little Japanese girls dressed up as Cinderella...

Not once did I ever hear one say "Hey mum, I'd really rather be an ugly step-sister, y'know...".

You need to get a little closer to the truth before you get busy distoring it.

Caruba's commentary says quite clearly "Obama is hardly a Hitler and the Democrats are hardly Nazis. It's a bad comparison."

The entire purpose of the commentary was to dispell the notion that the present times reflect the earlier period that led to the rise of the Nazi Party.

At issue is freedom, something that allows you to put your own spin on things.

You are wrong, and i believe you know it very well. Caruba is blowing the loudest dog whistle in the world. Of course he denies that's what he is up to, but his real purpose is to associate Obama with the Nazis in the minds of his race hating readers.
