Not A Damned Thing Is Sacred To Them

Here is a bit of the text of a bill introduced by Senate Republicans to attempt to further exploit the outrage of their ignorant base over simple issues of health care:

"Nothing in this title (or any amendment made
by this title) shall be construed to require an
individual or institutional health care provider,
or authorize a health plan to require a provider,
to provide, participate in, or refer for a specific
item or service contrary to the provider’s religious
 beliefs or moral convictions."

Now, let me turn for a moment to one of the great Republican demons of the last couple of years- their incessant claims that Obama and the Democrats are paving the way for Muslims to introduce Sharia law in the United States.  Of course, as with virtually any Republican claim about Democrats, this is a vicious, racist lie without a shred of foundation in the real world.

But here, in order to exploit an issue for partisan advantage, Republicans have introduced a bill in the Senate that actually licenses Muslims to legally introduce Sharia law into the country, via their businesses, thereby openly endorsing the idea that it is acceptable to force other Americans to act in accordance with Sharia law.

There is simply no act so vile and so utterly without principle that it is beneath Republicans. They will scream bloody murder about something that they know perfectly well Democrats are not doing, while at the same time unashamedly doing the same thing themselves.  I just don't know what kind of ruthless opposition is going to be necessary to get them to stop their treasonous behavior; obviously, no argument based on human decency or truth is going to work.
