Hero of the Day

Bernie Sanders, because it apparently takes a hero to get on a TV talk show and state the truth:

"We are here today because of the disastrous blunder of the Bush-Cheney era, which got us into this war in Iraq in the first place, which then developed the can of worms that we're trying to deal with right now."

That's one of the truths that the republicans are trying to run away from.

And they've spent the last 5 years transfering the blame to Barack.
They also don't like the reminder that under Ronald Ray-gun the CIA operated an airline hauling cocaine into the US and guns and cash out, every day, tons of cash, tons of drugs. So many drugs that the price of cocaine fell from being a rich kids drug to volumes so great the only way to get rid of it was to cook it into crack, sell it dirt cheap into the ghettos. Olie North was part of this effort to save Nicaragua, by killing a generation of blacks. Most of this was put into the black ghettos. 80k blacks were in prison for hard drugs when it started, 800k when it ended, not counting the dead, the ruined families, ruined neighborhoods. There are still men in prison from these arrests. Go see "Kill the Messanger". I remember this when is was exposed, then it slipped away. Told a repub friend about it and how the CIA admitted it a year after the story came out, he doesn't believe it.

And by the way, yellow fringe, while we are on the twin subjects of Ollie North and Air America, the CIA drug dealing operation you refer to, consider this little known fact: First of all, Air America existed before Reagan, during the Vietnam war, when it had 21,000(!) employees- quite a drug dealing operation there. More to the point, the head of Air America was the now little remembered General John Singlaub. Singlaub's adjutant was Ollie North. Yes, that's right- the great Reagan era hero Ollie North was a massive drug dealer since at least the '70's.

And I can't resist one other forgotten fact. When it became clear that there were going to be Iran-Contra prosecutions, Reagan appointed John Singlaub's personal lawyer to a position as a Federal prosecutor, and then made him the head of the Iran-Contra investigations. There's judicial integrity for you.
