Where Do These People Come From?

Ever wonder how a malicious lunatic like Ted Cruz materializes out of seemingly nowhere, and all of a sudden he seems to be pulling the strings of half the members of Congress?

Ted Cruz has a wife.  Her name is Heidi.  She is an executive with Goldman Sachs, and is a former economic policy adviser to the George W. Bush administration, dating back to 2000.

Does it make any more sense now?

Until a wacky billionaire mining magnate / crazed James Bond villain won a seat in the Australian senate recently, the richest parliamentarian in the country had been a former local head of none other than Goldman Sachs.

But a lot of people work for Goldman Sachs, though they do not seem to be other than of the conservative persuasion.

Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta.

I observe that this does not seem to be a political crime on quite the scale of being born in, say…. Honolulu, Hawaii. Which is curious.

As of less than two months ago, Cruz was a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. He means to do something about that - it probably being a bit ambitious at this point to simply annex Canada – as the owners of the Republican party have a broader interest in his future prospects. He’s only in his early 40’s… so I’ll think you’ll be seeing a fair bit of him.

If it calms you at all... Erick Erickson endorsed him. What could be more reassuring than that?

As far as I am concerned, Civil War Part II has just started.

Well, they sure as hell are trying to start it. Given the number of people who turned up in Washington to support them, however, I think it's going to be a pretty short fight.
