A New Low?

Here's a story from the Huffington Post, via Daily Kos, that puts a new light on the vile pack of degenerates who make up the Republican party:

"On Thursday, the House took up the International Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage Act of 2010. The bill would ensure that child marriage is recognized as a human rights violation, and develop comprehensive strategies to prevent such marriages around the world. The legislation seemed likely to garner strong bipartisan support in Congress, and in the Senate, it did. But last night, the bill was voted down in the House by Republicans who argued the bill is too costly and could lead to increased abortions -- gripes the measure's supporters say have no basis in reality and are just excuses to kill the popular bill."

This behavior is loathsome in the extreme, and the Republicans manage to get away with it over and over again, because our mainstream press will not hold them accountable for the most disgusting behavior.  There is, apparently, no point at which the behavior of Republican leaders becomes so bestial that it is appropriate for the American people to know about it.

In recent weeks, the Republican party has managed to endanger the safety of the whole world by their political games with the START treaty, manipulate the hapless Obama into giving the hyper-rich hundreds of billions of dollars in return for any sort of constructive economic stimulus, engage in an orgy of hatred over the DADT repeal, do everything they can to prevent an adult approach to the country's economic problems, deny health coverage to 9-11 responders who have suffered medical problems as a result of their heroism, fight for the right of gangs, the mentally ill, and Mexican criminals to buy guns at will, and generally work openly to damage the country in order to hurt Obama and the Democrats.  Yet, no one in the mainstream press (except maybe Keith, Rachel and Ed Schultz) has the slightest interest in reporting on this mass sedition, which is by far the worst threat facing our country today.  And that is why we are sinking into a third world morass while the rest of the world moves on.

I think we can safely assume that some Republicans get money from people overseas who wish to continue being free to rape little girls and kidnap them into eternal servitude.

Came over from Truth's place GE and agree completely with you. You are a prolific poster and yes it seems we just go through the motions. I don't think there are enough of us to combat a army from the right that have all the bullets. It's real old!
