Sarah's Ratings Plunge Lower than Her IQ

From the Hollywood Reporter:

"Sarah Palin's Alaska fell 40% on Sunday night...

Not many were in the key adult demo either. Only 885,000 viewers were ages 18-49, dropping 44% from last week.

In fact, the median age of the show is 57 -- that's 15 years older than TLC's average."

I had a suspicion this would happen.  After all, most of us enjoy a visit to the zoo every decade or so, to see the silly animals, but not that many of us go every week.

I wonder if the press, which reported her first week's high ratings as proof that she is the Most Awesome Politician Ever, will have anything to say about this.

I quote a reader's comment to the Sydney Morning Herald's article regarding Sarah Palin's Alaska:

" The decay and putrescence at the core of the US Republican Party, and the US as a country, could be nowhere more clearly illustrated than by the puerile deification of the most illiterate, intellectually debased and fanatical individual ever to take part in the theatre of the absurd which is modern US politics. And that is saying something given the depths of vacuity plumbed by Ronald Reagan and George Dubya.
The leadership stage of every civilisation in decline has always been crowded by such mutant freaks as Palin. That ought to tell us something pretty profound about the state of senescence of the US empire. "

Rather darkly, the article itself says:

" ...what might bring down other politicians seems to make her stronger: the malapropisms and gaffes, the cut-and-run half-term governorship, family scandals, shameless lying and rapacious self-merchandising. In an angry time when America's experts and elites all seem to have failed, her amateurism and liabilities are badges of honour. She has turned fallibility into a formula for success. Republican leaders who want to stop her are utterly baffled about how to do so. Democrats who gloat that she's the Republicans' problem may be humouring themselves. "

In summary: We who don't take her seriously should take seriously the fact that some people do take her seriously.

And now the half-wit, half-term governor is going after Michelle Obama for having the gall to talk about childhood obesity and suggesting ways to stop it.

Palin is a gigantic carbuncle on America's ass.

And there are enough Americans who will suck on it because they think it's wonderful.

She's a stupid woman with very clever ways about her.

If she weren't so pretty, she'd be out on her ass. I suspect all societies cut good-looking people some slack. It's in our nature.

"If she weren't so pretty..."

Typical sexism, from people who refrain to use it most of the time but reserve it for use on occasion.

Magpie thanks for posting this distinctly eloquent disection of Palin and the decline of the emppire.
Another person who is wants the Republican presidential nomination is Bobby Jindel, the governor of Louisiana.
He's pathetic. I have seen him briefly on TV lately pushing his new book "Leadership in Crisis" and my take on it is that the primary purpose of his mission is to defame Obama in whatever petty way he can. He speaks with the kind of vigor of someone who has newly found religion.
I have not read the book but just went to Amazon to find out the title of it and here is the deal offered by Jindel and Amazon. If when you are purchasing the book you also donate $100 to the Republican National Committee (via Amazon) you'll get an autographed copy. You can at the same time purchase Jindel for President t-shirts, mugs, bumper-stickers etc.
We may in the future see a Palin/ Jindel ticket. I don't think so, because he's not white enough.
In Amazon there were blurbs of praise of the book by Newt Gingrich, Jeb Bush, and Sean Peyton. So there you go.

DMarks, you can't deal with the obvious truth that so many of you right wingers are so shallow that you will sell out instantly to someone with the shallowest sexual appeal.

Poll's remark is not sexist, because it is not about Sarah Palin, but about the suckers like you who have fallen for this cheap, corrupt demagogue because of the way she looks.
