Bait and Switch
I see Trump voters all over the internet crowing over how Trump is keeping every one of his campaign promises!
Well, every one that involves screwing minorities, I guess. Here's a promise that seems to have escaped their attention: adopting a longstanding Democratic pledge to let Medicare negotiate bulk discounts in the price it pays for prescription drugs- something that would actually benefit ordinary people.
Oops:
So, instead of a benefit for consumers, he is going to reduce taxes and regulations on rich people and their companies. What a refreshing change from past Republican policy, right?
You stupid fucking suckers who voted for Trump- are you starting to get a glimmer of how thoroughly you have been conned? You voted for a billionaire because you actually thought he wouldn't be beholden to the other billionaires. You totally ignored the fact that he is one too, and he never did anything in his whole life that wasn't for himself. So now you've got a President who is bent on enacting the entire Republican agenda of stealing it all for the rich, only this time, he's not going to bother hiding it; he's just going to do it out in the open, and if you object, he'll send the feds for you. Hitler had to get the enabling act passed in order to neuter the Reichstag-at this point, it seems like it's going to be just fine with Congress if Trump turns them into a powerless debating society.
Congress has the power to bring this all to a stop in a week, and toss him out into the street. But the Republicans combine gutlessness with having sold their souls to the rich, so that they are just standing there and letting themselves be gelded. Maybe, like many of the Trump voters, they are just fine with living in a dictatorship.

"Today, after a meeting with pharmaceutical industry lobbyists and executives, he abandoned that pledge, referring to an idea he supported as recently as three weeks ago as a form of “price fixing” that would hurt “smaller, younger companies.” Instead of getting tough, Trump’s new plan is that he’s “going to be lowering taxes” and “getting rid of regulations.”

The Congressional Republicans are fine with it just as long as they get to control the dictator. Congressional GOP staffed worked with the Trump administration to draft the Muslim ban.
I think they're waiting until January 21, 2019, to get rid of Trump. At that date, President Pence can run twice as an incumbent. If they get rid of Trump before that, Pence can run only once.
The GOP is very good at playing the long game.
