Wingnut Wrapup

Oh dear, here we are again.  Same stupidity, different day.  Well, here goes:

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "No, Ken Cuccinelli's Sodomy Law Petition Doesn't Have Anything to do with Gay Rights"

Since when did banning "sodomy" have anything to do with gays?  Why, of course, it never did!  It's really about stopping unsafe driving practices, or something.  God, how stupid do they think people are?

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "Student: Teachers Bully Me Because I’m Conservative"

Change your clothes before going to class.

Ha ha, just kidding.

Michael Reagan, Town Hall:  "Renew Our Founding Principles...Billions of Christians around the world celebrated Easter last Sunday, but not our media.Once again the holiest day of the Christian year slipped under their godless radar...I don't care what the media or the atheists think about God or our Founding Fathers. We're a Christian nation. We were founded on godly principles. Read the Constitution."

I have.  You're lying.  As usual.

The Constitution contains two passages related to religion.  The first, in Article VI, forbids a religious test to hold office; the second, of course, is in the first amendment.  That forbids an establishment of religion.  Christianity is mentioned nowhere in the Constitution, nor is there even one word in the Constitution suggesting that it is a good thing to be religious.  If anything, what the Constitution does have to say suggests that its writers were very suspicious of the effects of organized religion on government, not that they had an interest in cramming any particular religion down our throats.  Given the damage that religion is doing around the world today, isn't it about time for right wingers to give up their nonsense already?

Cal Thomas, Town Hall:  "My first question after reading about seven teachers in an Atlanta, Ga., public school accused of altering standardized test scores to make it appear students performed better than they actually did was: How could they!?  ... the children in this elementary school are mostly poor and African-American. How are they helped to develop a moral sense, not to mention an academic foundation that will lift them out of poverty, if they get the message that cheating is better than achieving?
"

The teachers were preparing them for a career on Wall Street.

Ben Shapiro, Town Hall:  "In his pursuit of overarching gun control legislation in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre, President Barack Obama has been dogged. He's been relentless. He's been demagogic, too, flanking himself with schoolchildren (the implication being that his political opponents don't care about dead kids)"

They don't.

David Harsanyi, Town Hall:  "On the Environment, the Alarmists are Still Losing...All that money. All that effort. All the sermonizing and bloodcurdling imagery and still, Americans don't seem to be evolving quickly enough on the environment."

They're not.  They are being lulled to sleep while big oil companies destroy the world.  You seem to be really proud of that, David.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "RNC Chief: Did the Media Miss Planned Parenthood's Endorsement of Infanticide?"

Yes they did.  It's so easy to miss something which never happened.

J. Christian Adams, PJ Media:  "Imagine how Ronald Reagan would have reacted to threats of nuclear attack on the United States by Kim Jong-Un.  For starters, I suspect Reagan would have begun a dialog with Kim’s victims years before a nuclear crisis erupted.  Reagan would not have been quiet about their circumstances."

But of course he was.  Or am I mistaken when I seem to remember that North Korea existed during Reagan's presidency?  Oh well, just one more right wing fantasy about Saint Ronnie.

Oleg Atbashian, PJ Media:  "“Two, four, six, eight — now it’s time to smash the state!” chanted the mob. One protestor climbed up a flagpole in front of the Justice Department. To the cheers and delight of the crowd, he cut down Old Glory and in its place raised a Viet Cong flag. Police fired tear gas. The mob continued: “Tear the f***ing state down!”

This was the so-called “March Against Death” in Washington, D.C., on November 13, 1969. The chant was the rallying cry for the Weathermen, the violent terrorist group that instigated the riot and whose stated goal was to bring down America, replacing the constitutional republic with a totalitarian communist dictatorship."

No, that was not the "so-called March Against Death."  Oleg Atbashian was living in his home country,  the Soviet Union, when that happened (if he was even born then) and obviously doesn't have a clue about it.   Green Eagle was at that event.  350,000 or so other people were there  (there never were more than about 200 Weathermen,) and if this incident ever happened, the overwhelming majority had nothing to do with it, and not a clue that it was even taking place.  Of course, that didn't stop the police from tear gassing the rest of us too- I was tear gassed several times in the course of it, even though I was most certainly not a Weatherman.  And by tear gas, I don't mean just the relatively harmless CN gas.  God knows, I had been tear gassed so many times before, that CN hardly slowed me down any more.  No, that day was when I first experienced the military grade CS gas- quite a different thing altogether.  So Oleg, why not just hang on to your lies until those of us who know the truth are all dead.  Then you can emerge like some sort of Holocaust denier, and hope to get away with spreading your hatred.

Barry Rubin, PJ Media:  "What Really Happened in the Benghazi Murders...Read this paragraph from the Washington Post:

Obama administration officials have expressed repeated concern that some of about 20,000 of the weapons, called MANPADS, have made their way from the arsenals of former Libyan dictator Moammar (sic) Gaddafi to Syria...just imagine the very real possibility of commercial passenger planes being shot at, or even shot down, by terrorists armed with a weapon they obtained because of U.S. government ineptitude or even involvement."

We've already imagined that, Barry.  We imagined it when the Reagan administration gave tons of Stinger missiles capable of shooting down airliners to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, who were in the course of creating the Taliban and Al Qaida, to fight the Russians.  We also remember Reagan illegally (and treasonously, if you care) giving 2,000 missiles to the Iranian mullahs.  Anything that Saint Ronnie did is just fine with you.  But you are willing to work yourself into a shreiking fit over something that, as far as we know at this point, only ever happened in your imagination.  I wonder why that might be.

Victor Davis Hanson:  "America in the Age of Myth...In this mythical age, we all know that Barack Obama won the Nobel Prize, but none of us quite know what for."

Oh yes we do.  He won it for taking the world's most powerful military out of the hands of war criminals who used it for a war of aggression.  And he did it without firing a shot.  That's why he got the Nobel peace prize.

And now, the latest Republican Outrage Going Nowhere:

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Another Democrat Spouts Complete Nonsense About Guns, Blames Victims Of Colorado Mass Shooting!  Robin Kelly, candidate in the IL-02 congressional election, claimed Thursday evening that victims of 2012′s Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting failed to “pull out their guns to kill the gentleman that did all the damage that he did.”

Of course, Kelly was just pointing out that having guns would not have helped the victims of this atrocity, but no, according to Hoft, she was blaming the victims.  This malicious nonsense has appeared already at Breitbart and a number of other right wing sites, but is doomed to fade away quickly, thank heaven.

Mike Flynn, Breitbart:  "Media Can't Blame Dismal Jobs Report on the Sequester"

Or Republicans will throw a great big tantrum!  So there!  Try it and see if they don't!

Mark Krikorian, Breitbart:  "Roll Over or Walk Away?  Which will Marco Rubio choose?"

Either works for me.  Unfortunately, it's far more likely that he's just going to stick around and keep acting like a jackass.

Jonah Godberg, National Review Online:  "The New Welfare?  America’s disability problem."

Injured on the job?  Get off your backside, you goldbricking malingerer, and get to work.  Who gives a damn about you, as long as Conservatives can save a few bucks?

Sarach Hoffman, Daily Caller:  "CDC: More than 500,000 kids have lead poisoning"

Is this the Republican plan to win the youth vote?

Alolahpundit:  "Did Obama tell a Democratic audience that a “fully automatic weapon” was used at Newtown?"

Yeah, he did.  He was wrong.  It was only a semiautomatic weapon.  So what?  The kids are still dead.  But Conservatives all over the internet are screaming that now he has no right to say anything about guns.

Listen, do you guys remember when you said that it was a great idea to start an invasion against an innocent foreign country, and told us it would all be over in a month because, well, because they were all ragheads Arabs, so they were too dumb to resent it when we invaded their country?  You were wrong about that.  Remember when you told us that if we just stopped taxing rich people, why, the economy would burst into bloom?  You were wrong about that too.  Remember when you told us that Global Warming was some sort of incomprehensible conspiracy involving about ten thousand scientists?  You were wrong about that also.  Remember when you told us that black people and women and Latinos and Asians didn't need any civil rights legislation because white people treated them just great?  Well, that's another thing you were dead wrong about.

So how about if you just shut your lying mouths about all of that stuff, and let grownups deal with it, like you want us to do about guns?  In return, you can keep your God damned guns, which we were going to let you do anyway.

World Net Daily:  "Bible shaped America, historians at forum say"

Not true.  See- Bible:

America:

Look carefully now- the shapes aren't the same at all.  See what I mean?  These guys can't tell the truth about anything.

Dan Riehl, Riehl World News:  "Democrats: 2/3 believe Obamacare will hurt, or not help them personally"

And yet a large majority of them still support it.  Imagine- people who are for something that they think will only help other people.  How can they be so stupid?

And now, some Bush Era Idiocy that Won't Die:

Michael Ledeen, PJ Media:  "I don’t really follow North Korea (mostly, I try to stay up-to-date on a few countries that begin with the letter “I”), but it seems to me that we are looking at recent events in the wrong context. North Korea is a charter member of the Axis of Evil, and works hand in glove with the other surviving regime of that infamous trinity, Iran. I’ve been writing for years about the intimate relationship between the two, ranging from North Korean assistance in digging tunnels in Iranian mountains and in the Tehran subway system, to Iranian cooperation with North Korean missile and nuclear programs."

The Axis of Evil!  How 2003!  And the horror of it- North Korea helped Iran dig some subway tunnels!  A total threat to our existence!

Michael Ledeen- the sort of expert in which right wingers place their trust:

"Ledeen was involved in the Reagan administration's Iran-Contra scandal. As a consultant of National Security Advisor Robert C. McFarlane, Ledeen vouched for Iranian intermediary Manucher Ghorbanifar."

Ghorbanifar led the Mujahedeen forces in Afghanistan, which were the origin of Al Qaida, the Taliban, and virtually all of the Muslim terrorists we are now afraid of, as I mentioned above.  Here is Ledeen's opinion, from 2002, on Iraq:

"(Brent Scowcroft) fears that if we attack Iraq "I think we could have an explosion in the Middle East. It could turn the whole region into a cauldron and destroy the War on Terror."  One can only hope that we turn the region into a cauldron, and faster, please."

Well, he got his wish- and we got the cauldron.  Of course, it was our country that got cooked in it, but then, I guess you have to go to war with the idiotic leaders you have.

Hassan Nurullah, Renew America:  "God is Speaking...As I intend to be very candid here, this article will be offensive to a variety of people with a variety of political and spiritual perspectives."

Well, why don't we just skip it, then.  Oh, okay, since this is so important, here's a little of Hassan's proof that God is speaking to us:

"November 5th 2008, the day the country celebrated the election of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. His home state, Illinois, the state he represented in the Senate, had an unusual occurrence. The Lottery evening pick 3 came out 666.  Was the 666 meant to tell us that the day of the Antichrist is at hand? I am not saying President Obama is the Antichrist – I don't know! I can't dismiss that possibility out of hand, I have seen some interesting arguments made. God is saying something!"

What is frightening is that, among millions of American voters, this is what passes for meaningful political discourse.

Well, here's a particularly transparent lie:

Michael Thompson, World Net Daily:  "Warning makes travelers beware of … Chicago!  Tourists also told that Detroit, New Orleans can be violent"

Man, that's scary!  Let's read further:

"A new map created by the CBC News using the warnings from Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs offers travel warnings and advice for those planning trips that will have travelers rethinking the sight-seeing excursions originally planned.

Travelers to the United States are warned to take “normal security precautions,” while travelers to nations such as Brazil and China are urged to “exercise a high degree of caution” while visiting."

So actually, the report said nothing of the kind.  Here's the map of risk from Canada:

See? The entire U.S. is in the lowest risk category.  That didn't stop World Net Daily from lying, of course, did it?

Bruce Thompson, American Thinker:  "Was the White House Bin Laden Photo Photoshopped?  President Obama's recent appointment of Julia Pierson to head the Secret Service provides an opportunity for the Republican senators to put her on record regarding the veracity of his claim to have gotten bin Laden.  Interesting questions about the photo have been raised here on The American Thinker. She ought to be able to answer the question: "Was the really Obama in the photo, or was it someone else?"

Of course, they have some really convincing evidence:

"A prima facie look at the photo shows him wearing a jacket indoors.  Why was he presumably so cold when no one else was?  Is he ill?"

Hey, I've got a good idea- why not spend some more time on the birth certificate?  Or on whether his wedding ring proves that he is a Muslim?  Or on whether he really is the Antichrist?  Because no matter how you twist things around, you aren't going to change the fact that Obama got Bin Laden, when your macho jerks failed.

Astute Bloggers:  "I would rather live in Honey Boo Boo's America, than Hussein BHO BHO's."

I'm not surprised.  Nobody is stopping you, dumbass.  Knock yourself out.

And I think that's a good place to pull the plug for today.
