Another Sign that Satan May Not Have Won Quite Yet

This news, from the New York Times:

"Glenn Beck to End Daily Fox News Program...His departure was jointly announced in a statement on Wednesday by Fox and Mr. Beck’s company, Mercury Radio Arts. The statement did not specify an end date for the show, called “Glenn Beck,” which has been telecast at 5 p.m. on Fox News since early 2009. Mr. Beck’s contract with Fox ends in December."

Of course, the Times can't let it go without giving Beck a little wet kiss on the way out the door:

"Mr. Beck is a hugely popular figure on Fox News, averaging 2.2 million viewers each weekday, though his ratings have fallen somewhat in the last year."

In this case, "fallen somewhat" being a loss of over a third of his watchers in the last six months- something which, in the case of Rachel Maddow or Keith Olbermann would be described as a catastrophic collapse, proving that they speak for no one.

This is a phenomenon we are all too familiar with, most notably in the way that, whenever Obama's approval rating gets down to 45% it is taken as an utter repudiation of everything he stands for, while it meant absolutely nothing when George Bush's approval rating was at 22%.

Well, anyway, apparently there are some people that are still too crazy for the teabaggers, although I wonder if his ratings collapse isn't really a result of right wingers finally figuring out that he's gay.

Remember the NY Times' Judith Miller's parroting of the Bush/Cheney Iraq lies? Remember when the Times withheld warrantless surveillance stories at the White House’s demand until after the ’04 election? Some liberal media, eh?

Do I remember? I think I still have a bruise from banging my head against the wall. That was before I had a blog, and my wife had to listen to all my political complaining. She'll tell you that I was going crazy about Judith Miller before anyone else was talking about her.
