The Sound of Music

This news just in:  Fox news broadcasters, thinking they are off camera, call Sarah Palin's TV show "like The Sound of Music without Nazis."

Wrong as usual, Fox News.  Sarah Palin's new show is like The Sound of Music starring the Nazis.

Ooops, and former FLOTUS, Barbara Bush said on Larry King's program that she hoped Palin would "stay in Alaska."

Is there an effort afoot to discredit The Quitter even before she launches her presidential bid?

Apparently her newest "book" is as awful as her reality teevee show.

And more Republicans are feeling bolder about dissing the ex-beauty queen.

And we get another round in the tit-for-tat of calling political opponents Nazis regardless of any meaning. No different at all from the right-wingers with Obama = Hitler posters.

dmarks,

I believe you have not read this blog for all that long. I have, I think I may fairly say, considerable knowledge about Germany and Italy in the period 1900-1945, and over the last couple of years I have laid out exactly why I believe that the American right, with its short and very shallow memory of history, is absolutely recreating, as far as it is capable, the economic conditions which made the rise of Nazism possible. Furthermore, though the rank and file teabaggers are utterly incapable of facing this fact, the leaders of the right are working as fast as they can to complete the missing details, by deliberately triggering the sort of massive economic collapse that coerced the German people to give up their freedom.

I have dealt with right wingers for decades, and I know that you will never face this malignant truth, but it is true nevertheless.

You see, Anonymous, here is the difference: The comparisons of Obama with Hitler (and Stalin and Mao and Idi Amin and Satan and God knows who else) are filty, lying smears.

Bush and Cheney WERE involved in an attempt- remember the "unitary executive?" -remember torture? -remember detentions without trial? -remember armed aggressions against innocent countries? -to institute a dictatorship in this country, and thus when we look to past dictators to understand their behavior, we are engaging in historical analysis, not a well financed smear campaign.
