Death In America- We Should Be So Proud

Proud that nothing in the world is more important than our fictional "second amendment rights."

From The Economist, this news that will surely warm the hearts of our right wing fellow citizens:

"ACCORDING to data gathered by the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), deaths caused by cars in America are in long-term decline. Improved technology, tougher laws and less driving by young people have all led to safer streets and highways. Deaths by guns, though—the great majority suicides, accidents or domestic violence—have been trending slightly upwards. This year, if the trend continues, they will overtake deaths on the roads."

I am sure that the news of this milestone in our evolution as a country will be met by this guy and the people like him with tremendous rejoicing:
Proud to be an American, Hooyah!!!

Anon is wrong. The number one demographic for gun death is middle age and older white men. Violence and accidents drifts to suicide as they age. Suicide kills more old white men than gangs kill young black men. Suicides don't get in the news unless it's a celebrity. In my family (over 50 years there have been 3 gun deaths, one 20 something by hunting accident, and two elderly suicide with a rifle to the head. I have these numbers somewhere, come back with them if I can.

1) What does any of that have to do with the fact that YOUR chance of dying from a bullet wound is now greater than your chance of dying in a car wreck?

2)Where did that list of delusion come from?
For example, please show me some evidence that Obama funded mandatory Arabic language and culture studies in Grammar schools.

I want to apologize to Weird Dave for having made his comment incomprehensible by deleting the typically disgusting post from Anonymous that he was responding to.

The comment was deleted because it was a collection of accusations against Barack Obama which had nothing to do with this post. I wish to add that, before I deleted it, I went through it carefully. It contained 34 accusations against Obama. By my count, 32 of them were out and out lies, and the other two were so distorted as to be nothing but baseless smears. Not a single one of them was true.

  Of ocurse I am going to take the opportunity to talk about the Hamas attack on Israel.   First, I'd like to talk about my background, or baggage, regarding the country.   I have lived in Israel, some years ago.   This was not for religious reasons; I spent several months there working on a movie.   During pre-production, weeks of location scouting and shooting the movie, I was all over the country, and spent a fair amount of time in the West Bank, where we also shot.   This included a lot of places that normal tourists would not see, including predominantly Arab areas such as East Jerusalem, the Arab quarter of the old city, Ramla and the southern part of Jaffa, which is predominantly Arab.   It also included heavily Orthodox areas like Mea Shearim.   I dealt with Israeli Arabs, Palestinians and Bedouins.     Here are a few things I believe I learned there:   First of all, the Palestinians I knew were perfectly normal people with the same interest in living a safe, secure
