Succession

With the horrifying revelations today regarding the likely blackmailing of Donald Trump by the Russians, over both financial and sexual scandals, and with his approval rating dropping to 37% before this story broke, I think it would be a good time to take a look at the horrifying story of Presidential succession, if Trump is impeached.

So, here are the top guys in line:

1.  Mike Pence, vice President, religious fanatic and corrupt corporate tool

2. Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, perhaps the most heartless, cold blooded member of Congress

3. Orrin Hatch, President Pro Tem of the Senate, and a long time vicious Conservative

4. The Secretary of State- at this point, likely Rex Tillotsen, the CEO of Exxon.  Imagine that- turning the country over to the head of Exxon.

5.The Secretary of the Treasury- likely Stephen Mnuchin, whose career features 17 years at Goldman Sachs, and who now operates a hedge fund.

Well, that's enough, I guess.  Yeah, it would be great to see Trump go down the tubes fast, but what we would end up with then would not be one bit better.  The Republicans have screwed the country but good.

Gack. The only glimmer of hope in this list would be if Trump screws up so badly that we win the House in 2018 and replace Ryan with Pelosi.

I think Pence would avoid giving any grounds for impeachment, though. Unlike Trump, he's a politician and knows the system.

There's one hope. Slim at best. Trump's downfall will take the Republican Party down also. Enough republican legislators will switch to the Democratic Party to flip both the House and Senate which will present a new line of succession.

Wingnuts Slightly Annoyed about that $83 Million

How can you look like a decrepit old geezer and an out of control two year old at the same time? I thought it might be nice to look in on wingnut world to see how they are taking yesterday's $83 million dollar Trump legal loss.  You kind of know that they will decide it shouldn't affect their opinion of him in any way, but it might be helpful to see just how the Republican party has trained them to reject any fact they don't like.  Not that surprisingly, a lot of the usual wingnut suspects didn't touch this loss at all, preferring to just ignore anything that interferes with their hateful daydreams, but here are a few excerpts from an article at Gateway Pundit, along with a sample of the hundreds of comments it received.  Enjoy.  Or not. If a Tree Falls In the Woods

 And nobody hears it, is it really running for President at all? First of all, a note about my absence lately:  My wife got me to sign up for an account at Threads, which is sort of like X without the assholes.  I've spent a little time establishing myself there, and I have to say, I do like the relatively immediate exchange of views, but I don't mean to give up my blog- there are still so many things that can't be dealt with in a couple hundred words, so, perhaps to your dismay, I am back.
