Wingnut Wrapup

I want to start this edition of Wingnut Wrapup by reporting that, in a poll this week, 30% of Americans claim to approve of the Republican health care bill.  If there is any sign of how little benefit is to be gained from caring about what is true and what is false, this is it.  It's the old 27% of brain-dead haters and idiots, plus or minus a few percent, created by the Republican party, that keep this country from being a decent place, who lap up the "reporting" that I cover in Wingnut Wrapup; and there does not seem to be a thing we can do to change that.

I also want to remember Bob Owens.  Bob used to have a site called Confederate Yankee, which for years provided fodder for Wingnut Wrapup.  Bob was quite a gun nut, and eventually he abandoned that site for one which only dealt with guns.  The content of that site was not of much interest to me, so he pretty much disappeared from Wingnut Wrapup.

Well, I want to sincerely (I mean it this time) send my condolences to his family.  I just heard that Bob died on Sunday.  Of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.  At least we can take some comfort in the fact that Bob made it to the day when his gun liberated him from the coming Commie/Muslim takeover of America.  I hope it brought him some peace.

So, on we go. I guess I can't help starting out with a few of the pathetic right wing responses to the Comey firing:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Chuck Schumer's Shameless Hypocrisy and Faux Outrage Over James Comey's Firing"

Because the fact that Schumer had little confidence in Comey (who did?) means he isn't allowed to talk about the latest clear evidence that Trump knows damned well that he is a traitor, and will do anything to cover it up.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Analysis: Timing, Reasons for Comey's Firing Raise Questions, But Trump's Next Move is What Matters"

Because what Trump has already done is never enough to make a decision about him.  Which leads me to another comment from the aforementioned, miserable liar Katie Pavlich:

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "President Trump: I Fired Comey Because He Wasn't Doing a Good Job"

Well, great.  I guess that means Trump is going to fire himself next, huh, Katie?  Katie actually pretends that she believes Trump.  That's what you get the big right wing bucks for, I guess.

And, of course, we will now get the obligatory right wing character assassination:

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "James Comey was more Barney Fife than Columbo...Well done, Mr. President.  In reality, we're dealing with a bunch of hysterical Democrats shedding crocodile tears and a Mainstream Media full of Ted Baxter journalists who wouldn't know the truth if it knocked them upside their heads with a cast iron skillet. "

Expect lots more around those lines in the near future.

Monica Showalter, American Thinker:  "In Firing Comey, Trump Shows He's Afraid of No One"

Funny, I thought it showed that he is afraid of everyone.  At least everyone who shows the slightest intention of investigating his treason.

"And not just fires him, but does it in the coldest possible way -- publicly, through the television screens, as Comey bizarrely laughed, convinced he was unfireable, just as he began to make a speech in Los Angeles. It was an artful use of the media, of which Trump has a masterly understanding. "You are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately," Trump's letter read, released soon after the laugh.

You're not going to mess with that man."

Well, whoopee, Trump proves once again that he is one of the biggest pricks on the face of the earth.  Or, to put it another way, just what Conservatives look for in a President.  And for a little more laughable historical revisionism:

"Comey's problem is was not a matter of left or right quite so much as it was a matter of leftism and and power. He was a leftist, but he loved swaggering out on establishent power."

Yeah, Comey was a leftist.  That's their story.  And they're sticking to it.  He's just one more on the endless line of committed leftists picked to head the FBI.

"Comey's contempt for Hoover goes in the areas of civil rights, where, like any leftist, he is anxious to distort history into black and white."

In civil rights, Comey tried to "distort" history into black and white.  How do you even mock a statement like that?

Well, on to the rest.  Plenty more to come on this story, I am sure.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Jake Tapper Suggests Dems Have Already 'Undermined their Own Credibility' on Health Care...Democrats have no right to criticize Republicans for their handling of the American Health Care Act, considering how surreptitiously they passed Obamacare in 2009, CNN's Jake Tapper suggested Thursday."

Of course, that was a Republican lie.  Obamacare was passed after months of debate, with the full text of the law available the entire time.  Still it has become a central Republican myth that it was passed "in the middle of the night," with no one having a chance to read it.  Something similar to that actually did happen with the Republican "health care" bill, so time to trot out the old lie once again.  And by the way, apparently it is now the Republican line that therefore the Democrats have no right to speak in public about the true abominations that are in the Republican bill, which is not a health care bill at all, but a successful Republican scheme to steal hundreds of billions of dollars from ordinary Americans in order to give them to Republican campaign donors.

Congressman Paul Gosar, Town Hall:  "Antiquities Act Executive Order: An Opportunity to End a Monumental Abuse of Government Power...the Antiquities Act had good intentions, but in practice, it has morphed into a tyrannical tool for presidents to exercise unfettered land grabs at the expense of state and local interests"

Preserving our national heritage- a monumental abuse of government power; a tyrannical tool.  Using executive orders to go to war or destroy the social safety net- just great, as long as they are used by a Republican, and as long as some rich guy benefits.  Well, I repeated myself there.  If a rich guy doesn't benefit, no Republican is going to be on board.

And now, a little Republican humor to lighten your day!

Because now that Republicans have wrecked Obama's greatest accomplishment, it is our patriotic duty to crush any memory that it ever existed.

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall:  "Rape Charges Dropped Against One Illegal Alien in Rockville"

Because they are criminals even when they are innocent.  Another sickening lie from our girl Katie.

Matt Vespa, Town Hall:  "NY Daily News Columnist Torches Clinton: Just 'Shut the F**k Up And Go Away Already'

Because being gratuitously subjected to one more vicious attack in one of the most right wing newspapers in the country really stuck it to Hillary, rather than being one more humiliation to the wingnuts who lap this stuff up.

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Why Wasn't Huma Abedin Charged for Verifiable, Criminal Mishandling of Classified Material?"

Because she didn't do it?  Just guessing here, but that's my suspicion.

And let's just leave Town Hall with a note that they had seven headline stories up yesterday attacking Hillary or Obama.  I guess that's really what they want to talk about the day after Trump and Congressional Republicans just committed one of the most abominable acts in the history of the United States; and you can see why.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Cher Whines About Pricey Asthma Meds After O-Care Repealed – Cher Is Worth $305 Million!"

A classic statement from a Conservative.  Right wingers cannot even conceive of the notion of someone caring about the welfare of other people.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Obama Interferes in French Election=> As Democrats Cry About Russian Interference in US Election"

No comprehension, apparently, of the difference between openly expressing your opinion, and hiring thousands of saboteurs to destroy the integrity of another country's elections, in order to place your blackmail victim in office.

Curtis Dahlgren, Renew America:  "The Third World War is being waged in your kid's school (no joke)"

No joke, just one of the stupidest lies ever.  According to Curtis, grade inflation is bringing about the end of civilization.

"No wonder our modern radicals have such a terrible time explaining what they are "protesting" or why."

Not that they do have any trouble explaining that; it's just that people like Curtis have trouble listening to the truth.

Cliff Kincaid, Renew America:  "Billionaire funds overthrow of capitalism"

Very evil.  Of course, billionaires funding the empowerment of capitalism until only those billionaires have a say in how the whole world works- well, that is just wonderful.

Cheryl Chumley, Washington Times:  "Sorry, Michelle Obama: You weren't Obama's first choice"

This story is circulating all over the wingnut world the last couple of days: apparently, Obama actually proposed to some other woman before marrying Michelle.  This apparently reveals something grossly defective about Obama.  No mention of the fact that Trump proposed to at least two women before marrying his current wife, and actually married and then dumped them.

Cheryl Chumley, Renew America:  "Trump boots Michelle Obama lunch standards — finally"

Good food for poor kids?  A grotesque abomination.  Let them starve.

Michael Reagan, Newsmax:  "Colbert Lowers the Bar With Crude, Politicized Insults"

Maybe Michael is following his father into the fog of Alzheimer's disease, and he doesn't remember the last eight years of Republican treatment of Obama and Hillary.

Leah Barkoukis, Town Hall:  "(Condi) Rice: Trump Admin ‘Doing as Well as Anybody Could’ on North Korea"

Apparently, we can't expect any more from our leaders than nearly starting a nuclear war over a few belligerent comments from a foreign ruler.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "GOP Senator to Sally Yates: What Gave You the Right to Declare Trump's Travel Ban Unconstitutional?"

Oh, I don't know, maybe being acting Attorney General, whose job it was to determine which Presidential decrees had a shot of being upheld in the courts?  Note, please, that Sally Yates was right, as multiple courts have now declared Trump's travel tantrums unconstitutional.

Jim Jamitis, Red State:  "California Legislators Want to Make State Government More Communist-Friendly"

Remember those 27% I mentioned at the top of this Wingnut Wrapup?  Well, this story is for them, I guess, because they will believe anything a Republican tells them.

Debra Heine, PJ Media:  "Krauthammer Slams Obama: 'Good Riddance'"

That's not a slam, my dear, that's an infantile outburst.

PJ Media:  "Liberal Protesters Laughed When a GOP Congressman Told a Story About His Wife's Cancer..."

You know what?  He wants us to care about his wife's cancer, but he doesn't give a damn about our medical problems.  He's lucky to escape with laughter, instead of a slug in the face.

And you've just got to love this kind of "reporting:"

Bruce Bawer, PJ Media:  "What Happened in France?  How could Marine Le Pen have lost in a landslide?  Why, after the Brits chose Brexit, and Americans chose Trump, did the Dutch fail Wilders, and the French fail Le Pen?"

Yes, there are positive signs. The Sweden Democrats are on the upswing. And Wilders did gain seats in the Dutch Parliament.  But...you may well wonder: what, in heaven's name, will it take for these people to save their own societies, their own freedoms, for their own children and grandchildren?"

What will it take for Europeans to embrace open Nazism, seeing as how it worked out so well last time around?  Yes, this is what things have come to on the right today.  Don't ever kid yourself about where they are willingly, openly going.

And in the "If you believe this one, I've got a subcontract on a Trump hotel I'll sell you really cheap" category:

Leo Hohmann, World Net Daily:  "Obama aide seeks more slaughter of Christians"

And they screamed their heads off when the "liberal" press mistakenly reported where a cartload of beer in the Capitol was going.

James Lewis, American Thinker:  "The Real Reason Washington Post Republicans Hate Donald Trump...Trump has developed an effective way to reach you and me.  We understand his private code, which leaves liberals foaming at the mouth."

Yeah, his private code, i.e. hatred, greed and racism are wonderful things.  Both Trump and his followers agree with that perfectly.  And it does sort of leave liberals "foaming at the mouth."  Because, caring about human decency is such a left wing thing.  Under Trump, we've left that sort of thing way behind.

Daren Jonescu, American Thinker:  "South Korea Lurching Blindly Left"

Because having liberals win an election is "lurching blindly left."  Only electing the most piggish, violent government possible makes any sense these days.  After all, the world can't go on looking to the United States to start every war, can it?

J. Robert Smith, American Thinker:  "Macron’s Election: France Doubles Down on Failure"

Much better if they had doubled down on Nazism, which is what the other party was offering.  And a little more "thinking" from American Thinker on the subject:

Carol Brown, American Thinker:  "France chooses submission...On Sunday, the people of France voted overwhelmingly for their demise.  Of course, that's not what they think they voted for.  But it is. They think they voted for "inclusion," "fairness," "diversity," and all the rest of the hogwash served up by the leftist/globalist/communist/Islamo-fascists because hogwash is a favorite dish among useful idiots.

But make no mistake: the French people voted to assure their ruin"

Which they would not have done, I guess, if they elected an open Nazi to run their government. That would have been the sensible thing to do.

And let's just go out on this story:

Bob Unruh, World Net Daily EXCLUSIVE!  "Is 'grand illusion' about Grand Canyon on verge of being exposed?...A geologist is suing the National Park Service and its operations at Grand Canyon National Park because officials there refused him permission to do ordinary research due to his “Christian faith and scientific viewpoints informed by his Christian faith.”

Yeah, "research" to prove that the earth is 6,000 years old.  Thank you, National Park Service, for refusing to go along with this idiotic religious fanatic.

"Ken Ham, president of AiG, explained his scientist is “just asking for equal access to the canyon and not be stonewalled.”

“The case is about good science being practiced by a good scientist who is being blocked by intolerant government bureaucrats."

Good scientists.  Give me a fucking break.

Ms Pavich,
October 2016, Mr. Trump praised FBI Director James Comey's "guts" for renewing an investigation into Hillary. He also spoke warmly of Comey after he entered office, giving him a hug just days after his inauguration. In April he told Maria Bartiromo that while he believed Comey was "very, very good to Hillary Clinton" and kept her from facing charges, he wants to "give everybody a good, fair chance."

...So, what changed?
