Wingnut Wrapup

Let's start out with a shout out to Alphonso Mobley, an Ohio Sovereign Citizen who unfortunately blew both his hands off while trying to make a bomb to use in an armored car robbery.  I was going to say there's nothing funny about this latest in a long string of Sovereign Citizen violent incidents, but I take it back.  Sorry, it is kind of funny.  Not as funny, however, as watching the Republican party trying to cheat its way out of the fate it has spent so many decades carefully constructing.

John Hawkins, Town Hall:  "When Did It Become Controversial To Keep Men Out Of The Women's Bathroom?"

When did it become controversial to keep black people out of white people's bathrooms?  Except in certain parts of the South, where that still seems like a good idea to lots of people.

Stephen Moore, Town Hall:  "Why Do Liberals Hate America?  The idea of American exceptionalism has been embedded in our collective DNA for generations. It is the faith-based belief that, as Ronald Reagan put it, America is a "shining city on a hill."

Yeah, it is also the belief that lets most Americans crow about how we are the greatest country on earth, when the circumstances of our lives are near the bottom of all industrial countries.  It's the belief that allows people to buy into massive, criminal aggressions against other countries, over and over again, to be just fine with torture and imprisonment without trial, and to blab all day long about the Constitution, when they obviously don't give a damn about what it says.  So, in answer to your question, we don't hate "America."  We hate you, and all of the damage that  your greed and your hatred and your violence have done to the America that we thought we knew.  Suck on that, brother.

Mike Adams, Town Hall:  "Sexual McCarthyism...I'm old enough to remember a time when civil rights struggles focused on noble causes"

Well, first of all, when those struggles over "noble causes" were going on, people like you condemned them just as strongly as you are now condemning today's struggles.  And secondly, nice try there, picking one of the most disgusting Conservative demagogues in our history and trying to claim that he was just like liberals.

And now, let's take a moment for Comedy Corner:

Dennis Prager, Town Hall:  "The most profound thinkers in America are conservative."

Hope you got a chuckle out of that one.  I was going to list some of the profound Conservative thinkers that Dennis mentioned, but it would only make you lose your lunch.

Leon H. Wolff, Red State:  "Are the Democrats Going to Have their Own Contested Convention?"

Misery loves company, I guess.

Dan Speyer, Red State:  "Voters Want a Leader Willing to Say or Do Anything"

REPUBLICAN voters, that is.  Republican voters want a leader willing to say or do anything.  You forgot to add that part, Dan.

Mychael Massie, World Net Daily:  "(Barack Obama and his wife) are the worst kind of racialists; they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit it, Michelle Obama’s raw contempt for white America is transpicuous...

(Obama) is one who has rejected truth and replaced it with a vain attempt to change the ramifications of his flawed theory. He is confused, lost and “hellward” bound. He is a person unable to make sound decisions for his own life and yet he has convinced people he is able to make decisions for them, which explains in large part why his administration has been the model of failure."

Disrespect for the office of the President...replacing truth with cant.  Man, what a great summary of their own behavior.  But then, as always, that's what wingnut attacks on Obama are really about- an attempt to blot from their own minds just how terrible the results were when we had a President who followed their rules.  Make that two- Reagan and W.

Jeannie DeAngelis, American Thinker:  "Hillary Clinton’s Abortion Quagmire"

See what I mean about projecting their own problems onto the Democrats?  Trump makes one of the most piggish statements about abortion in years; the response is that it is really Hillary that has an abortion problem.

Breitbart News:  "PANAMA PAPERS: LAW FIRM AT CENTER OF LEAK LINKED TO CRIME, CORRUPTION SCANDALS"

Kill the messenger.  By the way, just what do the guys at Breitbart think the scandal is about?  Are they really surprised that a law firm that would do this would do other crooked things too?

Roy J. Ramthun, National Review Online:  "Why Is Obamacare Regulating Health Savings Accounts Out of Existence?"

Maybe because "health savings accounts" are just one more way for the rich to thieve money from the middle class?  No, it must be because Obama is a Communist, right?

Todd Starnes, Town Hall:  "North Carolina Won’t Be Bullied By Big Business Hypocrites"

They are, however, not objecting to big business bullying them to hand over more money to the rich. That's not hypocrisy, just greed, and since when was there anything wrong with that?

Guy Benson, Town Hall:  "Reports: Cruz Poised to Dominate Delegates in Colorado This Weekend"

Maybe they should have thought twice about legalizing pot.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Pro-life groups are demanding California Attorney General Kamala Harris resign her post and end her bid for the Senate after her office stormed into the home of pro-life activist and journalist David Daleiden on Tuesday. They were searching for his undercover Planned Parenthood videos exposing the organization's inhumane treatment of unborn babies."

They might as well be searching for the Ark of the Covenant, since Planned Parenthood never engaged in "inhumane treatment of unborn babies," as has been established by investigations in at least eleven States so far, all of which have found that Daleiden's videos were lying distortions.

And now, how about the most pathetic right wing conspiracy theory of the day?

Susan Wright, Town Hall:  "Clinton Staffers Blast Press With White Noise...At a Colorado fundraiser on Thursday, reporters outside of the event had an unpleasant surprise. Staffers for Clinton blasted the press with static noise, preventing them from hearing the content of Clinton’s speech."

Right.  Like they couldn't find out what Hillary said any other way, and like the noise was so cleverly designed that it only affected the press, and not Hillary's audience.  They will believe anything, and they will try to turn anything into a scandal.

Caleb Howe, Red State:  "Lindsey Graham Agrees To Meet With Obama SCOTUS Pick Because Why NOT Undermine Entire Republican Party, Right?"

Thanks, Caleb, for admitting out loud that a Senator who follows the Constitution is undermining the Republican party.  A lot of us have known that for a long time, but it's nice of you to abandon even the pretense that you care about the Constitution.

Kimberley Ross, Red State:  "Planned Parenthood Wants to Kill Disabled Babies, So They’re Suing Indiana"

This is distinguished from Republicans, who are actually trying to kill as many disabled children as they can, by taking away their medical coverage.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "Calvin Klein Model Antonio Sabato, Jr: “I’m Behind Trump 100%” – “I Cannot Trust Cruz”

Need any more proof how pathetic the Republican frontrunners are, when the best either one can do for an endorsement is a Calvin Klein model?

Chad Felix Greene, American Thinker:  "Want to Improve Your State? Pass an Anti-LGBT Law!  Want to be more in charge of your own laws, your own economy and your own path with less interference overall? Pass more ‘anti-LGBT’ laws. "

Yeah, that will work.  Say your State is North Carolina or Kansas.  Just give in to the haters in your population, and soon you will zoom past California or New York in economic strength and quality of life.  Give it a try, red states.  We'd love to see the results.  Really.  We really would.

Town Hall:  "WATCH: Cruz Sponsors Bill With Schumer to Recover Art Stolen By Nazis"

Well, so glad that he's doing something so brave and controversial.  Of course, it will probably turn out that all of the recovered art goes straight to the Koch brothers. Can't say I know that for a fact, but if past experience is any sign...

Awr Hawkins, Breitbart:  "Ex-Playboy Playmate Gets Long-Awaited Gun Permit, Pistol for Self-Defense"

The right is getting pretty hard up for good news these days, I guess.

Breitbart News:  "Conservative Jews Look to Gamble on Ted Cruz"

Both of them.

And now, the laugh line of the day:

Jack Cashill, American Thinker:  "The political establishment and the media refuse to credit the GOP primary outcome to this point for what it is: an unprecedented triumph of the Democratic process."

A "democratic process" that threw up an authoritarian demagogue and a religious psychotic, and now seems posed to stab them both in the back in favor of the rich guys' choice.  What a triumph!  Jack Continues:

"This year, the Republicans have defied their own party mandarins, the high priests of political correctness, and a complicit and corrupt media to stage the most exciting and energetic primary process since they nominated underdog Abraham Lincoln on the third ballot during a tumultuous Chicago convention."

Well, they have done exactly what their party mandarins have been teaching them to do for decades: go on an irrational, savage tantrum which offers the country the chance to destroy itself permanently.  If that is a triumph, it is on the level of the one the Germans had in Czechoslovakia in 1938.

By the way, pretty pathetic attempt to link Cruz and Trump with Abraham Lincoln.  Really, you should be ashamed.

Cortney O'Brien, Town Hall:  "Bolton: Will Obama Apologize For US Destroyer ‘Getting in Way’ of Russian Airplane?"

John, will you apologize for that damned stupid moustache already?  Jeez, don't you ever look in the mirror?

Bryan Crabtree, Town Hall:  "Support Trump? You're a Corrupt, Violent, Bigoted Dimwit."

Well, you could say the same thing about any Republican, really.

Neil Stevens, Red State:  "Bill of Rights under attack: Democrat Don Beyer wants to ban gun stores"

Funny, I don't remember anything in the bill of rights about a right to sell guns.  In fact, I don't even remember the second amendment giving citizens a right to own guns.    If you read the Federalist papers, you will learn that a part of "regulating" the militia consisted in the government supplying them with their weapons.  Of course, the clear words of the Constitution mean nothing when right wingers want it to mean something else.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "VIDEO=> Watch US Patriot Shout Down Anti-Trump Protester in Pittsburgh"

No thanks, Jim.

Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit:  "NEW YORK VALUES=> Ted Cruz Speaks at NY GOP Dinner – Audience Speaks Over Him"

The audience did not cease all activity and listen with rapt attention when Ted Cruz spoke.  ABOMINATION!!!!  On the other hand, a "US Patriot" shouting down an anti Trump person- that is just fine and dandy.

And let's just go out on this:

Sarah Palin:  "I can't see any of them inviting me," she said of party leaders. "I think they are afraid of what I would say."

Aren't we all.
