Bill O'Reilly Explains the Bible
That highly respected biblical scholar and all-around great guy, Bill O'Reilly, has graced us with a book explaining what the bible is really about.
Well, here is Bill's revelation of what the life of Jesus was all about:
Well, here it is- all Jesus cared about was cutting taxes. This is the true religion of all of these miserable people who claim to care so much about their faith. In the end, that's all there is. There is not one shred of real belief or decency in any of them. They ignore the open preaching of Jesus to create a false God who is concerned with things that Jesus said nothing about, or would have condemned.
I know that when I have made my claim about Conservatives and taxes, many people disagreed. Well, I have to thank Bill O'Reilly for spelling it all out.

"Bill O'Reilly's new book says Jesus died to free the Jews from taxation
The basic argument of the book is that Jesus died because he interfered with the taxation-heavy Roman revenue stream. The reason the Jews eagerly anticipated the Messiah, writes O’Reilly, is, “When that moment arrives, Rome will be defeated and their lives will be free of taxation and want.”Over the years, I have made the claim that all Conservatism in this country is about is "cut my taxes." Right wingers don't want to pay their share to run the country, and that is the whole story. The rest is nothing but window dressing designed to distract attention from the overwhelming greed of Conservatives, the nation's true bloodsucking welfare class.

I have a number of points to make:
1. Bill James, the great baseball writer, in discussing some of his views, said, “I am not here to end the debate, I merely want to move it forward.” Bill O’Reilly always wants to end the debate. Maybe that’s why he has the audience he has, they want answers, not questions.
2. If what O’Reilly wrote is history, not theology, then what about people who deny that history? If someone denied that 9/11 happened, we would say he is stupid, delusional or evil. Is that what he thinks non-Christians are? Jews, like me, who deny that Jesus is the Son of God have to have a serious problem if we deny obvious facts. Needless to say, ancient history is a lot more complex than O’Reilly is apparently capable of comprehending.
3. The book is a real insult to true believers. Authentic people of faith have, well, faith. Those who have faith don’t need proof, they have faith. If they have proof, they don’t need faith. The book is apparently aimed at those who don’t have faith. I presume that includes O’Reilly.
4. I glanced at the book and to say it ignores inconvenient facts and arguments really understates the case. A twenty minute google search will provide more insight than the book. A much better book is Father John Maier’s book, Jesus, A Marginal Jew. As for his other books, there are at least a dozen books better on the Kennedy assassination including books by Posner, Bugliosi, and Mark Lane. As far at the Lincoln assassination is concerned, Manhunt is the book you want to read.
